im not even mad at melo... the guy wanted to get traded here and stayed loyal during free agency when he could of left us... never even demanded a trade either... i dont blame him for not wanting to not waive his NTC since NY is his home... the problem with the "melo trade" lets forget about saying he could of came here during free agency instead of trade because thats done already but the bad thing is we never properly built around him... look at the warriors for example they were a joke for a long time and even more of a joke than us but now they look like a dynasty... they won the chip in the 70s like us but we won it a few years earlier than them and went to the finals a couple times while they never really made the playoffs... they built around steph curry with a proper rebuild but also good drafting and some of it was luck nobody picked their players when they were able to draft their guys but they did hit home runs... they traded monta for bogut and tossed the keys to steph early and then sign our dlee in the summer... after that they drafted klay and a year later got barnes, ezili and draymond in the same draft and picked up iggy during free agency...it might be too late to build around melo but at least we got kp he should be our focus to build around.. i agree a backcourt would help this team a lot...lopez, kp and melo we can keep everyone else can go... every team with a good backcourt is pretty good in the nba okc, gsw, portland and maybe even washington

They originally offered us Monta for DLee in a sign and trade. And we turned them down and instead took the other package.

Would love Batum. A do it all guy like him would do wonders for us.

After Conley, this summer's PG class is really weak so I'm okay with finding a transitional guy for a season then going all in for Westbrook, Lowry, Holiday, Paul, etc.

Can't expect a 31 year old to wanna sit through this. And he got his money too just in case. We'd be dumb to keep playing this game. Gotta smarten up eventually.

melo/kp can be such a problem. we've seen the few times theyre both on and clicking how unstoppable our offense looks. like u all are saying if we could somehow get a backcourt and a coach who will get them locked in on defense they can be trouble.

That's what kills me!

A KP & Melo 2 man game can be unstoppable! They're both match up nightmares. We don't even utilize then properly. It's mind boggling.

This franchise is just inept.

TBH all the other team would have to do is help with a guard because our guards don't cut, shoot confidently or move without the ball. AA is prob the best but he is so inconsistent and lazy to me idk if he would even help.

To be fair, regarding your point with GS--They got really lucky with a lot of their picks. During the Bogut trade, a lot of people got upset when Monta left. The team struggled at the SG position and put a lot of the burden on Curry very early on. Harrison Barnes was their lottery pick that year, and many people were disappointed with his progress. They had higher expectation for him. Ezeli and Draymond Green were late picks in the draft as well. Ezeli was expected to be a rebounding backup center, and the Warriors weren't sure if Draymond would even make it onto the team.

Klay Thompson was a smart pick up at 11 during the 2011 draft. He was the replacement for Monta and fit in well with Curry. But even then, Curry was battling a couple of ankle injuries and the Warriors organization wasn't sure if Curry would even pan out. I remember there were some serious reservations resigning him when his rookie deal was up. The other good signing was the Iguadola pick-up. He was the perfect addition to the team. Not a lot can be said, that's not already understood with this one.

The start to everything was when Mark Jackson coached the team and taught them how to kind of win. He introduced a winning culture and different brand of basketball the Warriors never really played. Steve Kerr was just the icing on the cake. He introduced the motion offense with principles of Triangle and Princeton, and most importantly, everyone on the Warriors team simultaneously was ready to take that next step. That is also a little luck as well.

There's a lot of work culminating to the success of where the Warriors are now, but sometimes you need a little luck in your favor to get to that "next level". Good news for us is we kind of had some of that luck landing KP. He was a major "high risk, high reward" type of player. Most times, guys like him don't pan out and the team is left holding the bag. There is no reason we can't be like the Warriors, but somethings have to go in your favor. This upcoming off-season will be very prudent of our trajectory as a team in the coming years.

Bring in Thibbs, give them that winning culture. Acquire a back court. Buy some draft picks and hope you get lucky.

This is pretty much what every "good team" does in today's NBA. You can transpose as few of those items, but that's pretty much the formula right there. Good news for us is that we drafted a very talented player. Just hope he pans out.

Yeah we have KP long term, Melo in the interim. So we can be a playoff team each year until KP is ready to be the guy and at that point, we'll have a winning culture built and a good supporting scorer in Melo.

You can't buy players though. It'll work for a short period of time, but if you want the most success, you're going to have to draft players and keep them.

this Dolan-Melo thing is kinda concerning...
I think its being blown up by the media. Its not like he ran into the stands and took a swing at a fan. Melo already apologized as instructed what else should happen. End of story..

What Melo said to the fan isn't a big deal, it's what he said to the media the next day. The Knicks put out an apology from him then when he was asked about it he said Dolan made him do it & he doesn't think he did anything wrong.

There's clearly some friction between Melo & Dolan.

If that was news to Dolan, then maybe. Hopefully it is the media and Melo and Dolan already had that convo as the apology was just a PR move. An owner can't circumvent the ntc in a contract anyway, so Dolans stuck with him
