**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

^ I guess Brewer's gonna be bought out tomorrow. So JJ and who? Kinda mad we missed out on Barron.

We cut Buike, too?!

jesus christ what's going on here?

so now brewer's departure isn't confirmed? who started the rumor that he was gonna be cut/bought out in the first place?

whether him or azubuke, the knicks could've at least thrown one of those two in with mason for a big(ger) guy before the trade deadline

how do you finally figure out azubuike is no good for the team less than a week after the trade deadline? we really could've gotten someone in exchange or used him in a package deal. you let him linger on the team, spend resources to bring him back to health and then just let him go for nothing in return?

none of us are there to see practices or whatever, but azubuike has been a good player and to just cut him like that seems crazy

Well I have been stressing the need of bigs. So outside of a surprise backup pg or someone from Euro-leauge/D-league the only other bigs I know of out there are Powe and Murph. Unless Donnie knows about a guy about to get bought out we don't. (Pryz

The Knicks staffs don't think Buike can play this year.

Just found out that Rasual Butler is a FA now. I hope the Knicks cut Roger Mason, Jr.

Azubuike told me last week he was 80 percent. With little time left in season, no chance for him to play. Knicks had to move on for spot.

why is mason on this team if we're not going to use him at all?

why do we have any players on this team if we're not going to utilize them in any way???

can someone explain this?

I have no doubt that Donnie wasn't shopping those guys. I'm sure he couldn't get the bigs he wanted for those guys or any bigs at all or a backup pg. So the only reasoning left is to check the waiver wire or keep them. With the guys Donnie's probably targeting I'm sure they would be more a help than what we have.

Interesting... guess he wasn't going to be healthy enough in time. That's too bad, I would have liked to see him play here.

Everyone needs to calm down until we see what management is doing, people are making snap judgments like we've cut Billups or Fields here. If Azu won't be healthy, then cut him and bring in someone else.

I'll say again, Brewer is a bum... shoots too much and doesn't shoot well, not to mention most people who are saying he's good defender probably don't watch him play often.

This sounds like Shawne Williams over PE Jr. all over again, that one didn't workout too bad... TRUST DONNIE

Off season trade pieces. Good locker room guys. Works in progress (that goes for players 12-15 like Rautins and Mozgov were) Good for practice, teaching, influence?

I do agree that Mason Jr. should be cut though but there's still time. Look how quick this news has come out consecutively.

Also I forgot that like a dozen pages back there were rumors about Jerome Jordan right? We still own his rights and he's been laying in Europe or the D-league? He's probably still a project but could be some help.

The fact that Donnie has cut these guys shows he's trying to make a push now and get solid players for the playoffs. Lets not forget his job security is still in limbo.

i have faith in walsh but an empty roster spot would rub me the wrong way. we know someone has to get cut for the defensive specialist to return.

I don't think there is anyway we go down the stretch run with an empty spot.

An empty roster spot after the deadline to sign players so they can be eligible for the playoofs would be unacceptable since it's not like we'd be saving a lot of money by cutting these guys.

The Knicks spent much of the weekend deciding how they'd open roster spots. They told potential free agents they would have room by Tuesday.

Hm, players are interested in playing for the Knicks. We will find out then.

It's really sad. Turiaf is the only player left from the David Lee trade in less than a year.

The Knicks must be real serious about making a run this year.

My bad. Shelden Williams is the obvious candidate to go. Renaldo Balkman is second followed by Azubuike, Mason and Brewer.

you're probably right, but having good "lockeroom guys"doesn't mean much at this point imo. it's like the equivalent of moral victories

it's just weird as a fan to not know what and why

.

wake me up tomorrow. The Media FTL yet again.

No problem with cutting Kelenna if he's not gonna play anyway. Shocked that they'd cut Brewer though. Doesn't he have some trade value? I've said it a billion times, but there's no chance we can pick up Sean Williams right?
laugh.gif
He was super athletic, and was a good defender and rebounder in his time w the Nets. I wouldn't mind giving him a last chance, he has to bring more than what Jared Jefferies can. I never disliked him bc he always gave 00%, but JJ is NOT a center.

@alanhahn Alan Hahn

Expecting his buyout done tomorrow. RT @Breidbaht: @alanhahn what does this mean for Brewer now that Knicks waived Azubuike?

Good locker room guys was just an answer to the question overall. Of course it doesn't matter in the playoffs. But yeah yours and my guesses are as good as anybody else. I'm lost on why certain guys are still here.

Why not? Rautins has been an "empty spot" practically all year. He's just there to keep Landry laughing
