NT: Sportsbook Thread

I just hate the matchup for the Reds against this Phillies team. I took the ML for the Phillies. I'm going with the heavily proven playoff pitcher and team. I'm not betting against a trend right now.

Giants game is too iffy for me because their offense is just terrible. One lucky swing by the Braves and the game could be over. Giants O was hella disappointing yesterday.

The Braves have a terrible defense all around and Hanson is the type of pitcher who gets a lot of outs by pitching in the strike zone. His out of the zone stuff isn't deceptive enough to get guys to chase/strike out. If they make contact, they're going to get on base especially if they hit it towards Ankiel, Conrad and Infante.

my degenerate play of the day was a 4 team soccer bet based on the advice from my European soccer junkie

Portugal
Netherlands
Austria
Germany

parlay...wasn't much but it won. woo

Just got back to my computer. Here are my plays tonight.

PHILLIES/REDS over 6.5 (2 Units)
GIANTS -145 (1 unit)

GL Everyone.

yea he hasn't pitched well today, guess the Reds were out for blood following the no hit bid...still got half a game to go

I took OK St earlier in the week.  Still feeling good about my play.

OK St -24.0 $165>$150

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns (+24, 62)
(4-0, 3-1 ATS) (2-2, 2-2 ATS)
Traveling to take on Sun Belt schools is always something dangerous for a BCS conference team to do, but that’s the task that the Oklahoma State Cowboys are going to be in for on Friday night when they take on the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at Cajuns Field in college football betting action.

There might not be an offense that has impressed more this year than that of Oklahoma State. The numbers that this team has been putting up week in and week out have been absurd. QB Brandon Weeden has thrown for 1,259 yards and 13 scores, while RB Kendall Hunter has rushed for 574 yards and eight TDs of his own. No one can stop WR Justin Blackmon either, as he has 34 catches, 558 yards, and nine scores in just four games! Needless to say, Okie State ranks in the Top 3 in the land in total offense (534.8 YPG), passing offense (364.8 YPG), and scoring average (52.2 PPG). Last week’s 38-35 win over the Texas A&M Aggies was the “worst

God the Phillies got so lucky. I feel for people who bet the Reds. They were the right side.

That was such a lucky cover for me with a RL of 1.5 with the Phillies. Thank you Jay Bruce aka Based God

not sure if any of yall bet MMA, but for those who have taken an interest in my analysis and picks in the past, here is my unsolicited pick/analysis for this weeks event

BET NICK DIAZ

In my opinion, Diaz v. Noons 1 is not relevant. While Diaz has decent to good cardio, that weight cut to 160 was just a bit too much for him. Fighting as a legit WW, I dont think the cut is going to have as much an effect (if any) this time around. As much as I hate Diaz, I respect his fighting abilities. Even though he may act like a knucklehead in interviews, press conferences, etc... etc.. I honestly believe that he is not a "dumb" fighter. Both Diaz brothers have a knack for getting their opponent to fight their fight, not the other way around. I will admit that I have not seen a ton of KJ Noons before, but what I have seen has not been that impressive.

Looking at KJ's last fights, he was able to out-strike Huen and Gurgel. But neither fighter made a concerted effort to take this fight to the mat. No one is doubting Noons abilities as a boxer/striker. While Nick's unorthodox striking style can be difficult to counter, I would still give the edge to Noons on the feet. The problem is, any advantage that Noons has standing, he more than gives up on the ground. While Diaz doesnt have overwhelming takedowns, Noons (as far as I can tell) does not have a great sprawl or takedown defense of his own. Eventually, Diaz will be able to take this fight to the mat with his guile and size/strength advantage. On the ground, Noons is in dangerous territory. If Diaz can get into top control, it could make for a short night. My only concern is that Diaz tries to get too cute, and passes up the freebie submission just so he can batter Noons a bit. Hopefully his arrogance does not give Noons an extra opportunity to get back to his feet and pull off some sort of KO.

I booked Diaz at -210. Line appears to be in the -230 to -240 range. Personally I think there is still value up to -250. Anything above that I might stay away.

SWAGTISTA IS IN DIAZ'S CORNER.  HE'S NOT LOSING.

^ i know that, that fumble made my day.

Is Brantley playing tomorrow vs. LSU. anyone know?

if not. I'm liking LSU +7. I think they're defense will keep it a really close game

"John Brantley is expected to play for Florida on Saturday night against LSU, but uncertainty remains about how effective the Gators quarterback will be."

Damn Giants.  Knew I might be in trouble when the line dropped all the way to -115.....in the Bay Area.  Oh well.  4-1 in posted plays over the past 3 days.
