So basically 3 more years of Cutler Bears fans. Seems like he sort of got a Schaub-like contract. Well played Bears.

Was cutler that bad this year?

I mean of course it was his fault that AR threw that TD but outside of that mistake he made on defense. Was he that terrible when he wasn't hurt?

There is no alternative. They had to resign Cutler... The alternatives are all worse.

They can easily be a playoff team next year and going forward by improving the defense to even acceptable levels.

56-48 career regular season record.

One playoff appearance.

Almost any QB can succeed with Trestman.

Hell no, they had one of the best offenses in football. Obviously Cutler doesn't deserve sole or even huge credit for that, but he's shown he's capable of running it.

That's gotta be the #1 concern with him... He gets injured every year

I think they just sat down and asked "Can you win a Super Bowl with Jay Cutler?" And decided the answer was yes, which is not something every team can say about their QB.

And I tend to agree. He is in the Flacco-Eli tier in terms of talent level.

To get injured you have to for the most part get hit. And if Cutler is getting hit a lot it's his fault? His Oline has been terrible until this year.

If they think that the Bears are in more trouble than we think.

56-48 overall career record.

17-20 with the broncos.
39-28 with the bears.

foolish to leave out the fact that many years under lovie they REFUSED to build an offensive line, or anything on offense in general.

he got there in 09, until they got brandon marshall, he was throwing to the following:
devin hester
johnny knox
earl bennett
greg olsen
roy e williams

fun fact of the day: In 67 starts with the Chicago Bears, Jay Cutler has been sacked 167 times!

So what is the Eli/flacco tier?

The beat/outplayed Brady in the playoffs/SB tier?

I would never put Eli in a category with Flacco. I don't think Eli is elite but Flacco is a bum. He's always had a good defense and is why they have made it to the playoffs every year. Suggs and Reed didn't like him because he held them back for so many years. Congrats on the magical run he had but he's a pile of ****. Cutler >> Flacco

QFT

Anyone can win. Flacco, Dilfer and even Rex Grossman made it to the SB.
NE didn't have enough talent last year to win and they have even less talent this year.

On defense?

Because up until this year I was told Brady can win with anything. What has changed?

There was no doubt that we were gonna re-sign Cutler. The key figure in all of this is the guaranteed amount, which has yet to be disclosed. The seven years mean nothing. I've been listening the the press-conference by Emery and Trestman the last hour and a halg. I've no doubt that Jay took a home town discount.

The only other option was going with McCown for a couple years, while we draft a young QB and develop him for a few years. Plan could've worked, but I trust that Jay will get better in this offense.

Let's be honest here, if the Bears had even an "average" defense, like just a medicore one, we wouldve finished at least 10-6, won the div. and gotten into the playoffs. This Bears' defense was god awful. Losing Peanut, Briggs, Williams, Melton, and Collins was too much too overcome, and Emery alluded to the fact the our depth was an issue. Our defense will be better next year, and that alone is worth a couple wins. The offense will continue to develop. We hit on two offensive lineman in the past draft, and that does wonders for the success of an organization.

Lots of changes will be made, but I think we can win with Jay. He'll never put up the numbers that Bears' fans all crave, and he's showed the ability to be clutch...he just cant continue to make stupid mistakes. Another year with Trestman should help him with that, because believe me, Trestman is an offensive genius. Getting the Chicago Bears to a top 5 NFL offense is nothing short of a miracle around these parts.

You remember Kyle Boller? He was holding that team back. The Ravens got a lot better once they drafted Flacco and Ray Rice. He's not great but I don't think any Ravens players have problems with Flacco.
