NEW YORK METS 2010 SEASON POST: Collins named New Manager

Great win...

Also wanted to point out that Benitez blew a game for the Royals yesterday.

He's still pitching? Wow.
Anyway, good win. Santana looked good and hopefully Wright found his power again.

Figgy got picked up by the Phillies...of all teams. Guarantee he beats us this year.

Figgy should have been on the roster over Mejia and Green. Some of the decisions this ball club makes irritates me.

Figgy has been "not bad" for us, but no matter where he goes the team will appreciate him. Mets don't need him since they have other guys who can start if someone goes down (Phillies don't).

Guarantee he beats us this year.

He's not THAT good now.

Maine vs Nolasco tonight.

Ummm, I'm not saying he's great but:

A) He's good enough to beat...the Mets
B) He'll have extra motivation
C) He's now backed by the Phillies lineup
D) That's just how things seem to work, release a guy who probably should've made the team and it comes back to bite you

We have like 3 Figgy's on this team though, and the Phils needed depth.

Not really a big deal considering he's serviceable at best. I think we should've kept him but at this point we have other options.

45 minutes.

Nelson Figueroa, who was designated for assignment by the Mets when Sean Green beat him out for the final bullpen spot, has been claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Figueroa pitched for the Phillies in 2001, going 4-5 with a 3.94 ERA in 19 appearances (13 starts).

A Brooklyn native and Brandeis University alum, Figueroa had a strong spring training for the Mets, despite one poor outing skewing his numbers and leading to a 4.61 Grapefruit League ERA.

Weird.

Not even concerned with pitch count, but the gun reads 91? I know you gotta work your arm out a bit after a few games but he has to throw 94 minimum (he was effective throwing 94-96 with ease).

He's healthy but damn he needs his fastball, he's laboring but doing what he can.

Ya know..I knew it was wrong to get hype after Santanas debut but I did...welcome back to earth people. AND

at the Mejia sighting....Second game? Analysts were saying all June and July...

That first homerun he gave up came from an 88 mph fastball. I'll give him some time to get stretched out, but I think John Maine is done, unless he learns how to pitch ala Mike Mussina's last season.

Was that a balk? I'll take that anyway. Come on, Mets. Let's get a win tonight.
