Because we had nothing else to offer. No free agent was wasting his prime to watch Kobe chuck shots. No free agent is wasting his prime babysitting 90s babies in hopes they can compete in 2/3 years. They would rather play for a competitive team for those 2-3 years and then, after they peep how good our core is, they'll come here to compete for a championship. That simple.
