LET'S DISCUSS HEALTHY EATING VOL WE OFF RED MEAT

Straight from a can, water based with low sodium it's as healthy as tuna with omega 3s. Frying it sounds good. Maybe make something similar to a crab cake?

Exactly. I'm not sure if she used something extra but I'm having lunch with her tomorrow and will ask her what the recipe is exactly and share it with everyone.

I'm definitely about to get on my salmon game hard. I've been eating a decent amount of tilapia lately and want to change that up.

Does anyone coupon clip? I swear I wish I could put forth the effort to catalog and use them efficiently to really get into saving some money.

I need some tips on how to eat healthy without breaking my budget.

it's soooo expensive to eat healthy, and so cheap to eat those fast food joints.

i want to lose 20 pounds, and i've been running and excercising but i also know that it's also diet.

I NEED help with the food/diet part....

You're wasting your time running and exercising if your diet isn't in check.

You got some smoothie recipes you can share?
1. My post-workout shake
Almond Milk
Frozen Bananas
Peanut Butter
Old Fashioned Oats
Nutmeg

2. Green Smoothie
Frozen Bananas
Celery
Kale
Fresh Ginger
Water

3. Fake Sorbet
Almond Milk (not a lot)
Strawberries
Frozen Bananas
Fresh Ginger

***I do not use unfrozen fruit in smoothies. This way I don't have to use flavorless ice cubes to thicken/chill my smoothies. I allow my bananas to get a little ripe (black spots) and then I cut each banana into 3 pieces and place them all into a gallon zip lock bag and place into the freezer.***

My freezer is stocked with strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, kale.

I do not use these as meal replacements. I usually drink one in the AM with my breakfast (oatmeal + eggs of some sort).

And I drink one later on in the day,.

Lost 30 since Christmas.

We have these in Houston, a lil pricey but if you compare it to fast food its about on par but way healthier.
The food is really good as well.

Food is put in these reusable containers and I place my own meals in them to keep down on my portions.

Chefs prepare the food weekly and the food has very limited chef life.

Good point about the ice cubes. I think I'm gonna scoop some bananas tomorrow and do the same thing as far as freezer goes. Never really thought about doing that way as obvious as it sounds.

Anybody else enjoy egg whites? I didn't use to but go with them most of the time now. Ill throw a regular egg in the mix as well to get some color/flavor. LAWRYS is a staple on them.

When I eat hard boiled eggs I eat the white and give the yolk to my dog. Healthy for his coat. I only like the whites. I'm about to go make a breaded salmon patty if I can figure out how. :lol will post pics if I don't ruin it :lol

I have learned that you cant go cheap on egg whites and 0% milk. I buy the expensive stuff it tastes a whole lote better than the other crap.

I have learned you cant go cheap on most healthier option, due to the cheaper versions tasting like crap.

Another key to diet is variety. You gotta change it up or you will get bored and give up.

A blender is ideal as well. You can blend alot of vegetables with fruit, allowing you to get your fruit and vegetable intake.

What do you mean about cheap on the egg whites? I was under the impression all liquid egg whites were generally the same?

Salmon is a pain to cook has the house smelling like a hot ****. Ex used to steam hers in the dishwasher.

I've just stared eating healthy, I was sick of feeling like crap and getting fat
So I stopped eating all fast food and cut out soda and junk food. I'm eating a lot more fruits and veggies,
Ground chicken and turkey instead of beef. And drinking lots of water.
I've lost 13 pounds in 2 weeks without any exercise and I feel much better.
I'm going to be checking this thread for some good recipes and If I find some good recipes i'll post them. Great thread :hat

13 lbs in 2 weeks? seems like a lot. did you cut carbs out of your diet? do you exercise everyday?

That's the main reason I want to eat better overall is to FEEL better and actually be healthier.

Half the battle is knowing, the rest is actually DOING it. I feel like my knowledge is pretty damn good but the execution is the hardest part.

EBW, if you're gonna go with canned tuna, I suggest going to an Asian market and buying Asian branded. Much tastier than Starkist, etc ...

Excuse it's ugliness, I'm no chef and I rushed it :lol

Half of it fell apart when it took it off the sheet. It tastes good though.

I shaped half the can into a patty, then breaded half of it. Flipped it and layered old bay on it, then breaded that. (Plain bread crumbs) put it in the oven at 425 for 15 minutes. Stayed moist, but the outside is crunchy. Perfect, what it lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in taste.

I think it's a successful first try, I'll work to fix it as time goes on :lol

Nope not for me. I had converted from buying the cheap eggs 99cent/12 to the Eggsland Best $3/12. Taste is night and day. I get some egg whites from whole foods. Im out at the moment and cant remember the brand.

Well I can safely say beef or pork is a no go for me and has been for like....forever.

I do love lamb though....I have that like 2x a month.

besides that I've cut down on overall protein consumption for about 2 months now. I eat more salads and whole grains, I take a krill oil along with a spirulina & chlorella pill. I just came off of a 2 week cleanse I got from trader joe's....It was pretty good.

Now I need to work on my sleep schedule.

No I did this and lost 8 pounds.

i hope you're not continuing this diet. seems mal-nutritious and unhealthy if done for extended periods. any diet that tells you to eat ice cream and hot dogs is questionable
