**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

You guys see Bronny’s running hook shot that hit the bottom foam of the backboard? Feel bad for the kid but he’s not NBA material. Getting kind of thrust into this position, crowd cheering for him to shoot, wanting him to play. Tough

Dont listen to NT Jeans, I appreciate your moves to bring us the Disney Title and the NBA NIT title.

Sell the damn team.

This comment from Lue alone lets me know Pelinka and Jeanie are some of the worst negotiators in the basketball player personnel business and more importantly they both don’t know how to “read the room”

I’m glad Lue stood his ground and went to the Clippers. He deserves the best because he’s PROVEN. Too bad Lakers brass showed little respect and look where the coaching KARMA has gotten them lol

Yeah I'm not losing sleep over the current HC of the hapless LA Sailboats feeling slighted.

An un-serious trade I cooked up.

Pelicans: Jones will have a high price tag, but this trade gets the Pels under the tax and off McCollum's contract. And they get another crack at the Lakers' future.
Jazz: Unprotect the 2027 pick and send them the 2029 pick. Can haggle over the protections. Frankly it's an overpay, but that's what it will take to get Ainge to do it.
Lakers: Get a two-way wing with Jones (cold shooting start to the season) and big with Kessler. McCollum replaces losing D'Lo off the bench.

Roster:
Davis/Kessler/Hayes
Bron/Vando/Wood
Jones/Reddish/Lewis
Knecht/Christie/Bronny
Reaves/McCollum

Opens a roster spot. Would probably target a guard defender or a backup four.

I saw Reeves and got nervous.

That trade would be perfect considering it circumstances. Too good to be true tho.

Too many people have the ability to put out these stupid trades on a social media platform....

Who says no? Every Laker fan....

I don't like D.lo but a 1st round pick for that?

I'd trade Gabe & JHS for DFS...
Or
Rui + JHS + Wood for Cam

No reason to circle back to Dennis a third time.

Do the Lakers blow it up?

L.A. is at 13-11 with a negative point differential despite having LeBron James and Anthony Davis available all year. Yeah, the rest of this roster isn’t good enough, and no, trading a second-round pick for Jonas Valančiūnas isn’t going to fix that.

The dilemma for the Lakers is that they have enough asset-wise to make a trade for a sort-of good player but not quite enough to push their chips in for a true third star. While depth pieces would certainly help (have you seen this bench?), the fact is the main group isn’t good enough either. Lineups with James and Davis are getting trucked by 7.7 points per 100 possessions.

The reason L.A. might consider the audacious idea of blowing it up is not to tank for this draft (the Atlanta Hawks have their unprotected pick). No, the idea is that James and Davis have massive trade value right now, the type of players who would let the Lakers build up a Thunder-esque hoard of draft capital and rebuild quickly toward something with grander aspirations than that of the current group. However, that trade value may drop off quickly in the coming months and years, especially in the case of James. Is it possible that now is the time to cash in?

Realistically, it seems more likely L.A. would pursue such a drastic move like this after the season than in February. But 90 percent of front office work is preparing for unlikely-but-possible situations in case they come to fruition. This certainly qualifies.

The San Antonio Spurs won a championship with Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili all way past their prime only one year after they drafted Kawhi before Kawhi became “All-Star Kawhi.” Kinda like future All-Star Dalton Knecht. Hmm…..

But because Popovich had the expertise and savvy in acquiring legit pieces like the 4th year 3&D specialist Danny Green, the veteran stretch big Matt Bonner, the veteran battle tested do it all forward Boris Diaw, young sharpshooter Patty Mills who played like a veteran, and young 7-footers Tiago Splitter and Aron Baynes TO HELP TIM DUNCAN, Pops surrounded his aging hall of famers with legit role players and they stayed competing for one last run at a chip. That roster had a perfect complement of young, high IQ’d, fundamentally sound players and hungry vets with playoff experience who had a chip on their shoulder.

That’s how you surround your stars with legit role players and build a title contender.

Now compare the above Spurs’ role players to DLo, Reddish, Rui, Vando, Christie, Gabe, and Wood lol.

There are ZERO excuses for wasting the last two years due to the incompetence of Pelinka in assembling the right player personnel to compete for a title..

Too bad Pelinka is a mediocre architect of championship teams.

This failure is 100% on Pelinka and Jeanie. But they can right the wrong by cleaning house with its role players starting Dec 15.

Get me some damn BIGS and two-way players ASAP!
Yeah JJ Reddit ain't Pop though. I would take a senile, diaper wearing Pop over JJ Reddit. Remember what Lakers were doing before Phil showed up, players past there prime has worked in the past. Unsure it will work in today's style of play, however it will never work with a terrible coach, no matter the personnel.

Herb next to Bron :emoji_blush: Would they be willing to move Herb just to get off of CJ contract? It sucks, but CJ can still contribute. Then you got a $30 million dollar expiring next year. 🤔

I don't like any Kessler deal if it runs you two 1sts. I understand why, but that's a tall ask.

Just wish he had more to show forth, because his Clips is underperforming like crazy. New stadium just to pile up losses. Like buying a new house and putting lawn chairs in the front room.
I can almost guarantee that if they landed Luka & Joker that they’d average 6 pts on this team and get injured the very next week and out for 2 yrs 😂
Old head I guess but I remember back in the 90's when the Blazers ALWAYS had players hurt. I was like damn training staff use to be trash.
You can argue that the rebuild has already started with them not trading last season’s draft pick and selecting DK. If they don’t trade any future picks this season more evidence to support that.

Now if you want to tell me that they should trade all their more valuable players to tank and stockpile picks I will remind you that New Orleans owns their pick this season and the Lakers have to probably never have intentionally tanked for draft picks outside maybe the B Scott years lol.
Sigh oh yes that pick gone to. Lakers really out here playing just to keep the lights on and keep the popcorn machines popping.

Herb would be perfect. On offense l, higher percentage 3Pt shooter sitting in the corner to help space the floor. On defense, take the hardest matchup, and do a great job

CJ similar to AR l—can shoot and create a bit, but bad defensively.

All you faithless jabronis dont deserve the Lakers, Kendrick or LA.

I have a full vote of confidence for JJ.
