**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Didn't even know Rob Williams was back. 3 games and he's played well too.

Clax is too expensive and Jonas can't move. I'd rather take my chances on Rob guarding Jokic than the others. Especially since Grant might be coming with him. :D

Even though Gabe and JHS suck, I need to see Time Lord healthy for a decent amount of time before trading for him.

Trying to get to $42.2 mil in salaries and not come out worse on the other side is really hard, at least for who the Lakers are. Especially when they'd be dealing out draft comp too.

For example if you're getting Grant + RWIII. Rui is the one that needs to go out. Just on salaries and poistions.

Rui + Gabe is only $28mil. Even if you threw Max & JHS. Still $3.5mil short, and maybe you can add Wood or Hayes + Max Lewis. But that's 6 guys for 2., that's a lot. Just not a believer in Jerami at this stage of his career to be a starter and defend the best win player, and definitely not at his salary and length of the deal.

If you combine Rui + Vando + Gabe, that's the same $3.5mil short. If you toss in JHS. Then you have almost no movement for whatever else you need.

If it's DLo going. You can't trade Gabe because then you have the worst Guard Rotation in the league, and that is more about how ****** Gabe, Cam and Max are as your 2,3,4th guards are, and AR not being a good enough best guard on a team to deal with that ****** of guards behind him if you trade out DLo.

Unless they are end of the bench guys JHS, Max, Wood, Max Lewis and maybe even Vando because of his injuries. Whoever they trade, needs direct replacements or else they will have issues.
But if you were to go DLo + Rui & Max. That's not really a worthy deal of anything. I'd rather have Rui & DLo and see if I can get something for Max based on promise of a player than Jerami and RWIII

Would be selling really low because of the promise he's supposed to develop to, and I'm not sure I would because I think he could be used in a trade for a better player. But thinking about guys without consistent minutes.

But Max Christie, JHS, and Max Lewis would work. That is hedging on keeping a slot for Gabe.

But the injury history on Time Lord would be a signal of they are just done with Christie.

I think a Christie + JHS + unprotecting 2027 and working out some draft comp for Walker Kessler and Svi Mykhailiuk is probably the way I'd be looking at for Center. A lot of RWIII consideration to be had if you trade for him because it is as likely to be a lemon as it is to work. If it works HUGE win, but that 50% chance it's going to be a garbage truck on fire is RISKY

Brogdon and Valanciunas is the REALISTIC option where the Lakers can get salaries to match easily and not have to give up half their roster if they traded for Grant and Timelord.

DLo and Brogdon are both on expiring contracts that are similar so it will be attractive for both LAL and WAS. Lakers get a guard back to replace DLo plus the starting caliber center they desperately need.

Lakers can then swing another trade to acquire a two-way, 3&D wing player

Players 3-5 are generally role players… here all the ways that those type of guys can contribute to winning and also how I think Rui checks those boxes.

Rebounding? No
Defense? No
Playmaking? No
Shotmaking? Sometimes
Hustle/motor? No
This is 75% of the NBA.
