**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Larry is not gonna get bent over by the Lakers, come on.

If we called with just Randle and a pick, you don't think another team could beat that offer? Larry would just accept it and be cool?

Ainge has already shown to horde and overvalue his assets. PG13 has made it clear he his either signing in Indy or coming to LA. What great offers are going to come in from other teams when they know he’s not staying on said squad?

Law of diminishing returns the longer Bird waits the less he's going to get for him.

Boston can offer a more realistic package in attaining Paul George if they really want him and they would be in win now mode.

Larry isn't trading him to LA for someone who's own fanbase deems him trash.

It's just not realistic
What is realistic is IF Paul George's agent is putting the word that PG would like to play for the Lakers, then Boston isn't going to trade their assets and best players for a one year rental. That would be far too risky.

As far as trading with the Lakers, as any executive in the NBA, you would have to put your ego and pride to the side and do what's best for the organization.

What pops out to me is Robinson's BF compared to Randle's.... pretty much the same size.

Robinson probably had to get that to stay in the L

Also D'lo, Ingram and Zubac working :pimp:

THE FUTURE.

Clarkson getting out worked by MWP and Moz

Proud of Zupac for putting in more work than anyone else :pimp:

Deng's old lazy *** corpse chilling at home collecting checks not even putting a ******* work out in to at least show some veteran leadership

I believe it is Zubac

Just watching the other playoff games.

Indys offense is turrible.
Probably gonna get flamed for this but what is the difference between Rudy Gay and PG? I don't watch pacers that much so enlighten me on his game.

Grizz and Spurs just thinking how we somehow could have kept Marc in the Pau trade.

MARC

Update 'Demar should have gotten him Derozan' turned back into a pumpkin as soon as the playoffs began like clockwork.

No update after game 1 tho? [emoji]129300[/emoji]
The game where he went 7 of 21 and was a -16 on the floor? Even in game 2 which they won they were -1 with him on the floor. And then tonight a great 0-8 from the floor and was a -23. He's at 19 ppg on 34% shooting and been the worst player on the floor in terms of +/-. Pumpkin.

Here's why you don't trade for Paul George...

1. Current Pacers salary structure
Paul George, Thad Young, Monta Ellis, Al Jefferson, Myles Turner & # 18 Pick = $58mil

That is 6 players, with about $44mil in Cap Space (Not including anything else)

Now let's look at where they need help.... PG / SG or SF / PF & bench

At PG: Jeff Teague, Jrue Holliday, Derrick Rose, or George Hill.... The best choice is Jeff Teague because his cap hold is $13.2mil rather than having to pay Jrue $20mil, George Hill $17-20mil when they already had George Hill and it was the same result.... Or become worse taking DRose over Jeff Teague for similar money as his cap hold.

So now they are down to $31mil in cap space with Teague's cap hold.

Let's look at SG, since Paul George played entirely the 3, and small ball 4 this season....

KCP is getting matched even at the max. DWade is a bad choice and isn't going to leave Chicago for Indiana.

That leaves JJ Redick, Tyreke Evans, Andre Roberson.....That's all bad choices for them... Redick wouldn't be bad, but he's going to get PAID

So move Paul George to SG in Indy & sign a SF..

Gordon Heyward has either more money in Utah, or a far superior team in Boston with a coach he loves... That's not happening.. Otto Porter is staying in Washington

Danilo Gallinari, Andre Iguodala or Rudy Gay

PF: Blake, Serge & Milsap have either more money, better situation, or better suitors than Indiana

That leaves Nikola Mirotic, Erysan Ilysova or Taj Gibson.

But let's get fun.... Let's say they go Jeff Teague, Danilo Gallinari & re-sign CJ Miles (whose cap hold is about $6mil)

Jeff Teague
Paul George / Monta Ellis / Joe Young
Danilo Gallinari / CJ Miles / Gorges Niang
Thad Young / #18 Pick / Kevin Seraphin
Myles Turner / Al Jefferson

That team isn't better than the Cavs, Raptors for all their playoff stank is a better team, Celtics are better and will be better than this past season, Wizards, Bucks...

So at best the Pacers are a 6th seed, and losing in the first round again.

2. You assume that Bird will ask for Russell + Top 3 pick + Clarkson (And that's assuming we keep the pick, if we lose it, it would be Russell + Randle + Clarkson... Probably Nance or Zubac as well)........... Why the hell would he take Deng or Mozgov when trading George indicates a rebuild? No reason to.

So now you're sitting at

Jrue Holliday
Paul George
Brandon Ingram / Luol Deng
Julius Randle / Larry Nance Jr.
Ivica Zubac / Timofey Mozgov

Good luck being the Indiana Pacers in the Western Conference playing 2 teams absolutely better than the Cavs.

3. The alternative of waiting is far better.

Top 3 Pick
Russell / Clarkson / Nwaba
Ingram
Randle / Nance
Zubac

That's 7 rotation players at only $42mil in the year Paul George is a FA...

Paul George puts you at $72mil.. Stretch Deng & Mozgov and save about $20mil... From there you only have 1 hole and that's at the Center spot... You're more than covered 1-3 spots.

Unless you're getting a sweet heart deal where you're not trading guys that you won't be able to replace (that includes Russell because Clarkson and not the Top 3 pick will be replacing Russell, if we assume we are keeping the pick.... JC is never going to be as good as DAR is, even now) then any trade looks stupid, and will crater the team in the 7th or 8th seed up to the time that Randle, Nance, Ingram & Zubac's salaries will triple or quadruple.

If you look at all the young guys we have... Ingram / Russell / Zubac / Randle are the guys you will have significant trouble replacing... Clarkson can be replaced, Nance may not be replaceable at his position, but a similar role guy off the bench is possible

Randle, JC, and Houston pick gets it done. DO IT MAGIC!. Bird can't dictate anything at this point. PG13 wants to leave and come to LA, he's in salvage mode. Nobody is going to offer him the moon for a rental knowing he is going to leave anyway.

Then why trade for him?

Then why trade for him?

To get rid of Randle and consolidate some of the talent. There's only so many minutes to go around. Especially if we keep this pick. They're likely going to end up doing it anyway as many have been saying for years. This unit as is is not going to be together forever.

You don't do it just to do it.

That would be something you do after you have Paul George. Add a 2nd guy in FA after stretching Moz & Deng.

THEN you say hey, let's consolidate for a 3rd guy because we're running out of room here

You don't consolidate before you even have any of that.

Also Nance isn't going to be able to replace Randle.

You can do it either way.

Get PG13 now, you get his Bird rights and see how they play next year with hopefully a top 3 pick and how BI and D'Lo continue to progress. Maybe make an actual run at the playoffs which makes the situation more attractive for the 2018 FA class.

Stretch Moz and Deng, then go after the 2nd max FA.

We aren't going to have room for a 3rd guy unless some unforseen jump in the cap comes cause it'll be time for D'Lo's extension soon should they decide to keep him.

You actually can't do it either way.

The team will be better next year. If Paul George WANTS to play here. You wait. Just like his circle told us to.

Then at that point you can sign him and hold ALL THE CARDS.

as opposed to trading him and holding a pair of 7s.

And Cousins who was absolutely going to leave fetched 2 lottery picks. 1 being valued as much as Brandon Ingram.

Just  at a better player only getting Randle JC and the 28th pick.

Randle was a lottery pick was he not? Clarkson has proven he can play as well no? Plus they get another pick. It's a fair package for somebody who is desperate to get something for him.

Ultimately you end up with a roster that has PG13/D'Lo/BI/hopefully top 3/Zu/Nance/Nwaba and hopefully another FA in 2018 to begin 2019 and Randle and JC gone whether you trade them now or after we get him.

We trade Randle jc and the late pick only if bird is going to pull the trigger to another team...I think those guys are going to get traded anyways

Buddy Hield was valued as much as Brandon Ingram by the Kings. That's an undisputed fact from everything that they have said and every thing that has leaked.

JR, JC & # 28th Pick
