**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Russell was stuck in a really bad position. Deng should've gone behind/between the 2 defenders for an easy escape valve for Dlo.

Deng staying on the sideline did no help

Incredibly rare to lead an NBA team by 20+ points for 4 quarters. Nice job closing this one out by the baby lakers

******** call by the ref on that Nance foul

Only thing stopping Larry from being great or even better than Randle is his mindset
Yup.

Until Ingram gets better, this team needs Randle's force. When/If Ingram does, then there can be some more thought into Nance starting.

It's amazing how we already have 2 more wins than last season's record

Just need PHX to win tonight to negate this. Is there no contender that would like 47 points a game for free? C'mon dudes.

Lakers can acquire a star before the deadline, still end up with a bottom three record because it's so late in the season that our record won't improve much, and we can still manage to keep our top 3 pick if the ping pong ball bounces our way.

There's a reason Mozgov hasn't played in 3 straight....that's an $18 million annual salary they're about to trade for a tier 1 or tier 2 star.

Ain't no way Lakers would be dealing Mozgov plus one or two players to be named and only get picks and chumps in return.

They're 2 wins away from going from 3rd to being tied for 9th in the win column. Acquiring a star would literally be the dumbest thing they can do right now.

Nope, that's the smartest thing they can do right about now. This team has no identity. A star would give them one and would jumpstart the quest to build the next playoff contending team SOONER than later, which is Magic and Jeanie's NUMBER ONE GOAL.

It's clear Jim and Mitch's opportunity to build through the draft hasn't worked because Magic and Jeanie have realized #7 pick Julius Randle and #2 pick Russell have turned out to be underachieving stiffs who play with very little effort each night. Jeanie ain't havin' it, so she called Magic to help save the day.

At which point Magic immediately came out and said we have no leader, no alpha, and we need to get one on the team ASAP.

Lakers don't want to tank. We can finish with the 7th worst record and still wind up getting a top 3 pick. It's about being aggressive and being pro-active if the opportunity presents itself to acquire a star.

Don't underestimate the barbershop sources

If you're the source, not worried at all about them doing something stupid. You clearly don't know how probability works.

Of course I do. The better the record, the worse your chance is to get a top three pick. But it doesn't mean the Lakers have zero chance to get a top 3 pick even if they finish 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th worst.

At the end of the day, acquiring a star now is still better than acquiring an unproven college player whom you're not even sure will turn out to be anything great. So far, Lakers are O FOR THREE with their picks the last three years. Ingram is still largely a question mark and a lot of people will tell you that our second rounder - ZUBAC - could end up being the best player we've drafted in the last 3-4 years.

If it's Anthony Davis sure, knock yourself out, but Melo and Boogie, get all the way the **** outta here with that BS. Nobody wants to come play with them now. No reason for that to change on what would be a worst situation. If Boogie wants to come he'll do so after next season, otherwise let him rot in Sacramento.

The best time to acquire them is when there is a perception nobody wants them. That's when acquiring them could cost less. Which means, the Lakers can conceivably get them while still keep most of their young core assets.

Remember when nobody wanted to touch Rasheed Wallace who was causing all kinds of havoc in Portland? What happened when he went to Detroit? Only won a chip when put on a team with a good coach and a solid combination of veterans and young players who had a lot to prove.

Remember when nobody wanted to touch Tyson Chandler? What happened when he went to Dallas? Dude turned into an absolute beast of a monster and won a chip when he played with another All-Star next to him. Next thing you know, Chandler was on the Dream Team lol

Remember when everyone used to think Chris Webber was a problem at Washington? What happened when C-Webb went to Sacramento and played under a solid coach and was surrounded by the right kind of system? Dude went to the playoffs damn near every year and would've won a chip if not for Shaq and Kobe.

And you want Anthony Davis, the same Anthony Davis who is about as brittle as DLo? Dude can't even stay on the court for 20 straight games without one of his numerous injuries flaring up. LOL.... dude is 23 years old, been a pro for 5 years and still has yet to play a full season lmfao

Every single situation you mentioned was a team that was a contender or close to one willing to take that chance to see if said player would put them over the top.

We are nowhere near that scenario. Stop with the faux news. Pun intended.
