My point is that Cam has to earn the respect of his teammates before they're going to make an issue of Clausen not giving his number to a rookie. If it was a veteran that came to the Panthers, then yeah, but it's not like Cam's proven anything, #1 pick or not.Originally Posted by gangsta207therevolution

Newton is too much of a physical speciman to have been passed up, but if Clausen is commited to making Cam sit a year that is in the Panthers best interest.
Clausen is playing for his next job and he knows it.
The key is to stay professional though. Dont be an %!# about the situation. If Cam offers anything over 75k do the deal if only cause dudes in the locker room will lose respect for you if you $$%+! and moan about a number for half of training camp.
I was under the impression that it was usually looked at like dudes with seniority, had a number in the pros for years had more of a say.
Everyone has a price for their number though.
All im saying is that if this is an issue for more than 2 days of training camp both dudes are going to be looked at funny. Cam may want the number and his salary prob guarantees he will get it. If its known around the locker room how much Cam offers for the number and its over 75k and Clausen doesnt take it. He will be looked at like a fool
And where are you getting $75k from?
