Jimmy Clausen not ready to give up his Job or Jersey # (QB Competition??)

jimmy clausen is boo boo. Cam will easily beat him out, as for the number he'll get it when Clausen is cut or traded.

Newton is too much of a physical speciman to have been passed up, but if Clausen is commited to making Cam sit a year that is in the Panthers best interest.
Clausen is playing for his next job and he knows it.
The key is to stay professional though. Dont be an %!# about the situation. If Cam offers anything over 75k do the deal if only cause dudes in the locker room will lose respect for you if you $$%+! and moan about a number for half of training camp.

Carolina took a HUUUUUGE gamble with this pick, word to the Piston's drafting Darko; they'll either look really smart or really dumb

Didn't have much hope for him when we drafted him

. He's showed a lot of maturity though. Training camp will be very competitive and we need that.

It's not like Cam has a right to that number though.  If Cam !$#%$#% and moans about it, it's just as bad, if not worse since he hasn't played a snap.

I was under the impression that it was usually looked at like dudes with seniority, had a number in the pros for years had more of a say.

Everyone has a price for their number though.
All im saying is that if this is an issue for more than 2 days of training camp both dudes are going to be looked at funny. Cam may want the number and his salary prob guarantees he will get it. If its known around the locker room how much Cam offers for the number and its over 75k and Clausen doesnt take it. He will be looked at like a fool

If Cam wants the number, he needs to give Clausen the same amount Auburn gave him. Giving up your number to a rookie says a lot whether he's better than you or not.

disagree, you think Jerry Rice, Deon Sanders, Tim Brown, Michael Irvin, Emmett Smith etc would have given up their number to a rookie for $$$.... I don't. That said Clausen is none of the above and never will be, he might not even be in the L in a few years. If he won't give up the number this year Cam can rock a different number and get his #2 when Clausen is cut or traded.

Didnt the new coach say that they drafted Cam to play right away, not to sit and wait.

Clausen showed a flash here and there through out the season though. It wont matter who the panthers have out there playing if there isnt enough talent around him or Cam.

My point is that Cam has to earn the respect of his teammates before they're going to make an issue of Clausen not giving his number to a rookie.  If it was a veteran that came to the Panthers, then yeah, but it's not like Cam's proven anything, #1 pick or not.

And where are you getting $75k from?
