Like I've been saying, Palestinians have been playing to not lose since 1967, and I've been critical of their leadership (the PLO yesterday, Hamas today, PIJ tomorrow?) because theyve been leading their people on for that long.

Everyone knows that what matters in geopolitical issues is facts on the ground and those with the power to establish them. In a one-sided fight, it's irresponsible to tell the losing party to keep fighting.

Jihadism wasn't some belief that magically popped up only after US/Western imperialism in the middle east.

Al-Anbari had already formed the basis of ISIS' policies long before the Iraq invasion, as Al-Anbari's son also confirms in addition to other writings and associates. He was Al-Zarqawi's closest associate and later helped formalize the ideological policy format for ISIS.
He wanted to accomplish what ISIS eventually tried and partially accomplished due to growing religious extremism after the US invaded Iraq.
The US-led invasion of Iraq obviously spawned a large increase in religious extremism, and the years that followed played in Al-Anbari's favor, aiding him in uniting other factions.
