Politicians are actors. She needs to play the ROLE. You have to be aware of how you are looking. If you want to maximize support. So I agree here.
For the sake of her playing her role correctly, she should have tipped. IF she wanted to keep the, "I support the little man" persona.

If it was like a expensive meal at a fancy restaurant with a server, then maybe this statement holds some truth.
I'm a big tip, and I don't tip at Chipotle, just because I mainly pay with a card and I don't believe it is that expected.
