Second U.S. coronavirus case of unknown origin confirmed in Santa Clara County; two others reported in Oregon, Washington

The news suggests the deadly virus may be spreading undetected in multiple locations.

In a troubling turn in the nation’s fight against the new virus that has killed thousands and alarmed health officials and investors around the world, a second U.S. case of unknown origin was confirmed Friday in Santa Clara County.

The case — a 65-year-old woman with pre-existing health problems, reportedly now receiving care at Mountain View’s El Camino Hospital — is the second in the Bay Area this week in which the infected person had no known exposure to the disease either through travel overseas or another infected person. She had not traveled to Solano County, home of the previous patient and site of Travis Air Force Base’s quarantine of Diamond Princess passengers.

“This new case indicates that there is evidence of community transmission but the extent is still not clear,” said Dr. Sara Cody, Health Officer for Santa Clara County and Director of the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department. “I understand this may be concerning to hear, but this is what we have been preparing for. Now we need to start taking additional actions to slow down the spread of the disease.”

The infected patient is an older adult woman with chronic health conditions who was hospitalized for a respiratory illness, county officials said. Her infectious disease physician contacted the Public Health Department to discuss the case and request testing for the novel coronavirus.

The WH falsified an official weather report because the real version contradicted a false claim Trump had made about the path of a hurricane. Rather than just admit he was wrong and made a silly mistake, they committed a crime (18 U.S. Code § 2074) by deliberately using a sharpie to falsify the hurricane's path on the official model and then passing it off as authentic on tv.


There's really no bottom to what these people are willing to lie about no matter how blatant and self-damaging it is. In Trump's press conference a few days ago about the coronavirus, he started lying almost immediately about the severity of the virus and projections of its spreading, directly contradicting what Dr. Anthony Fauci said right next to him. Trump's instict is always to lie and paint himself in the best light possible, even though it is clear to anyone that he's clearly lying and just making matters worse.

Surgical mask 1. Don't protect and 2. They are single use only. Once they get damped they are useless.
 
If you’re referring to the dog, they found “trace amounts” of the virus on that dog nasal and oral cavities. So far they’ve only proven that the dog came in contact with it, not that he is infected.
 
Anyone have any traveling plans this month or in the upcoming months? I have a trip booked to London at the end of March, thinkin bout canceling it. Anyone cancelled any of their traveling plans?
