The problem is this country is full of babies.
What I've learned these past few months is that very few people are capable or serious enough to make sense of all the information surrounding covid-19. Even among doctors, it's not a given that they understand what's going on.
I agree though with what I think is the point of your post. Censorship is not the solution. We need instead to educate people and, more importantly, give people the ability to do critical analysis of information. And, no, being contrarian or peddling fringe theories is not critical analysis. Critical analysis is hard.

There are so many people who are either uninformed or could care less (or both). We've had several cases and close calls at our company that were the result of people engaging in obvious high risk situations that could be easily avoided. One female employee with a newborn baby allowed a family friend (not from her household) to visit and hold the baby without a mask. Guess what... 2 days later the lady who visited got sick and tested positive. The employee, her baby, and 3 y/o all tested positive as well and the newborn was even admitted to our local Children's Hospital. AFAIK they are all doing better and are expected to make a full recovery. Another employee had a drive-by birthday party for her 9 y/o daughter, but allowed family who is not part of her household to come inside to sing and eat cake and hang out for about an hour with no masks. Later that week one of the family members had symptoms and tested positive. Our employee was tested and thankfully came back negative, but they are still waiting on results for the rest of the family. 3 employees decided to go to the Indian casino on their day off and don't seem to understand why that would be a problem ("We wore masks!?"). These are just the ones we know about, but I'm sure there are many more engaging in similar activities that put everyone at risk. We have attempted to communicate the risks, but there are a small minority of people just don't seem to care and put the rest of us at risk.

That is equally horrifying and amusing. No rational competent person would be involved with this administration. It really does seem like they were banking (haha) on re-selling the hydroxychloroquine. It is so incredibly dangerous to push disproven medical treatments with serious side effects on to the public. Now a whole bunch of people are wondering if the crazy demon lady might be right. If you dismiss actual peer reviewed science, it’s over. He’s already made the CDC a laughing stock. God knows how long it will take to regain its reputation. I fear he will go after the NIH next.

I agree, educating and giving people the ability to do a critical analysis of the info is the purpose behind any thread and sharing information inside of it.
I'm glad you bring up these talking points because what I see more often, or let me say what I experience more often than not and specifically in this instance in regard to the Hydroxychloroquine video is that I shared a video and gave people that chance to discuss and analyze the information BUT, folks have been coming at me like I'm actually Dr. Stella Immanuelle or that I support and defend the video

You mention that peddling fringe theories is not critical analysis and I agree, but outside of sharing the video for discussion, no peddling took place on my part, or defense or said info.
In fact, I think the video(now deleted) was shared by a few posters here, but I'm the SUPPORTER and Peddler.
Not accusing you of this, or anyone...we've all read and followed the thread since.
I'd say the vast majority here would tell you I promote Hydroxychloroquine as a CURE.

also, i think any perceived overreaction on my part (or from others in this thread) is that we already went down the hydroxychloroquine rabbit hole a few months ago, and we went over it again, and again. so at this point, more than anything, it's just strange that it's still even being discussed. like back in march people were saying that africans would be immune to covid-19 or that the virus would go away in the summer. we don't see anyone making those claims anymore. but we still have people (including the president) trying to sell us on hydroxychloroquine.

ignorance being a personal choice isn't only limited to the US. to solve the "Freedummies from being ignorant about it" issue, we would need to live in an authoritarian state (China, Cuba, Russia, etc.)
