Guardians of the Galaxy (Film) - 8/1/14 - Starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Benic

I assume other people like myself have been wanting a space adventure movie. A comic book space adventure movie is something different that might get people's interest. This is the movie i'm anticipating most this summer.

this might be marvels first bomb in cinematic universe trailers effects are dope but it just seems off to me its like what dc did with jonah hex why now so many other properties u could touch like black panther or an iron fist/luke cage movie.... i really hope im wrong tho.....BLACK PANTHER....

Marvel is already doing Iron Fist and Luck Cage shows on Netflix

I think Jonah Hex's biggest probably is being a western, westerns do terrible nowadays

Just looked up jonah hex..never even heard of it and wow. 47 mill budget, made only like 11 million lmao. The cast alone should have made it break even

What in the hell about Jonah Hex was 47 mill?

Marvel studios would have to try really really hard to produce a movie as bad as Jonah Hex and bomb the way Jonah Hex did. I mean just announcing a movie is apart of their shared cinematic universe will get it grossing 150 mil+. Their weakest movies are better than Jonah Hex.

They'd have to do no early promo, have one movie poster, release the trailer like a week before the movie and the day of the movie would have to be a Monday. Plus it'd have to be an obscure character like The Torpedo starring David Spade and Tori Spelling with a 15 mil budget directed by Tyler Perry & M. Night Shyamalan.

You could throw in a Adam sandler cameo

What marvel is doing today in cinema is really unprecedented! They are bringing comics to the big screen like they should be brought to the big screen. The whole universe concept is what sets them apart from the other studios. I wonder when this movie takes place on the marvel tine line.

I was dead *** about to say starring Adam Sandler but then I thought he's actually funny enough to make the movie at least get some profit

It's cool cuz that's the same thing that set them apart in the comics when they debuted as Marvel :pimp:

I would say what set them apart is that their characters were somewhat more relatable.

Marvel from DC? What sets them apart is that DC's characters, besides the batfamily, is just short of gods and are never actually in any real danger. Their storytelling sucks for that reason.

Ohh and Marvel characters are way more relatable.

Read Guardians of the Galaxy prelude 2. Nowhere near as good as the first one but if you want to know the story:

Rocket and Groot arrive at an intergallactic city spacehub strap for cash. Someone pays good money for them to sneak into the good part of town, normally restricted to the rich, and steal a package that got intercepted at customs. You basically learn that Groot can stretch any part of his body which was useful for reaching air ventilation shafts. Once they get their they steal the package and a really big gun. They meetup with the person who hired them in a restaurant. He partially pays them and they reveal the package. Turns out it was some sentient snails. The guy wanted the snail shells for remodeling some rich guys floor tiles. These sentient snails are rare. They tell Rocket and Groot they will pay for them to be escorted home so rocket and groot cross the alien who paid them and left the city with the sentient snails in hand in order to get them home for the promised fare

This is one of the stupidest looking comic book movies I've ever seen in my life thanks to a talking raccoon and tree being main characters. I can't see how non die hard comic fans will watch this

Because it looks fun. I don't read comics at all and this is the movie i'm anticipating most this summer.

They are not the only main characters, but perhaps something less stupid is a dude that turns into a raging green beast when Angry, or a Thunder God?...oh wait, maybe a vigilante dressed in a batsuit

I'm not a diehard (never owned comics, just watched the cartoons) but this movie looks fun as hell

I doubt there are more than a couple million hardcore comic fans across all comics. The movie will appeal to more than 3-4 million worldwide comic fans much less the 30 or so thousand GotG fans

When did a talking animal hurt a movie?
