FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

I mean I get it, Costco is probably one of the worst shopping experiences you can have but you already know what it is so go at 7am if you're gonna have melt downs.

I just move the carts if I have to in a much chiller manner.

Yea it's elite to Blacken things. #

Frying will not take place in my house because I dont want my house smelling like grease.

For the house sure, I don’t fry much because it’s a pain.

If I went out to eat and ordered something fried and they said “we only air fry” after I got it I’d be pissed.

I might try to blacken something in it. It might be good at that.

I just don't understand the infatuation with fried food. Never have.
It's just... the taste is just the product & oil.
Fried catfish? All I taste is fish & oil.
Fried chicken? Chicken & oil.
French fries? Potatoes & oil.

And I know you can put seasoning in breading, but you can hardly taste the seasoning afterwards.
It's just the product + oil.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t think we have to tell you what the actual problem is..

I find your lack of regard for texture disturbing.

Do you not UNDERSTAND the infatuation?

or

Is it just not something that you are infatuated with?

Don’t mean to toot my own horn but beep beep.

I worked fryers at few places ran by some James beard winning dudes. There’s a level to it you will never do at home.

I used to cure the fried chicken overnight in aromatics, salt and pepper. Then confit it in duck fat to cook it then fry it after. I promise you it didn’t taste like oil.

It’s just not happening for the home cook, it would cost you 200 bucks to make it.

You could do fries at home easily though.

You been an expert fryer this whole time?

That is facts though. Fried foods don't hit the same at home for the most part. Mostly due to the prep.

But a deep fryer at home helps.

I mean I've had fried food from folks that OTHER folks say is top-notch ("You gotta have my auntie's fried chicken"), I've been to chains that people say are top-notch (Harold's is the best I've had, and Harold's is pretty effing good TO ME), I've been to mom and pop, hole in the wall places that people say are top-notch, I've obviously fried things myself at home...
At a certain point that I have definitely passed, you just come to the realization, 'Maybe this category of food just isn't for me.'

Nice. 😂🔥

I mean, of all the different fried food that I've had that were prefaced with "This is the goods right here" and I'm like "I don't see it," I think it's pretty safe to say I don't understand the infatuation.

It's starting to get to the point where I legit think that people are like "Fried chicken? WHERE?!" because they're afraid of the backlash for saying otherwise.
It's so unappealing to me that I don't get how it's so popular (infatuation).
👀😬

Yeah :lol I just never do it at home and figured you guys had used an air fryer because I sure hadn’t.

I was the fryer/sauce maker/butcher and the guy that called the food to cook and plate (basically control the pace) for a long time.

Fun job if you can keep a cool head. Just pays like crap.

Solid spot. Never had the fried chicken but their grilled chicken is AIGHT.

I go there all the time. It’s 5 minutes from my crib.

It’s best to eat there imo if you get fried, skip the mac and cheese and get yuca, plantains or beans.

The girl gives me free horchata :hat
