FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Damn I would think AZ has some top tier Mexican food with it being right above Mexico. When you say really extreme- do you mean too over the top & nothing plain in terms of presentation & options for foods? I've always heard good things about Mexican food from TX all the way up to Cali.
az i been to dozens of times in my life for it being so close to mexico i expected better. gone to so many spots too. going again next week and trying stuff out too. Everywhere i went in cali it was either unbelievably good or pretty bad, thats what i meant with the extremes. i have been to LA area and SD area but not many spots so thats probably why i had that experience in cali

probably some of the best Mexican food I’ve had was recently down on a recent trip to Disney, it was in a surrounding area there and someone we went to Disney with had a foodie friend who took us there.

10/10 great food, loved it.

I think y’all need to realize that this discussion is on the overall average for each state.

On average, you’re going to find amazing Mexican food a LOT more consistently through CA then you are most other states. This includes NY. I feel like this is a known fact.

I’ve heard TX has good Mexican food as well, but if I hear another NYer say y’all competing with CA’s Mexican food tier because you know some spot that’s down 2 boroughs and 4 alleyways and this dude named Big Joe told you one time it was good when he went on a Sunday between 2-4PM - we gon button this right up.
Have you been to NYC before? If so, you would know that there are Mexican restaurants in every borough.

There’s Mexican restaurants in all states man

What I’m sayin is if you have to look far and wide to find the great ones, you’re not touching the consistency / volume of top notch Mexican food you can get here in CA.

Just within 5 minutes from my house I have 4 different taquerias. All of em are great and each has their specialty that everyone in the area loves them for.

And tbh that’s fine - I have a few friends from NY / NJ who came here and live here and there’s MAYBE 1 or 2 pizza spots they say is “good” pie.

Y’all got yours. We got ours. The issue I’m raising is when y’all claim you almost got us on ours. Namean?

Respectfully

Imma need to see some proof of you enjoying good food after the taco fiasco

I appreciate the input tho and come in, generally, peace

People can tell what it tasted like from the picture? :nerd:

I come in peace.

It was basic 2 dollar deal taco Tuesday special. Maybe I should've poured the salsa Verde on it to make it look more appealing:lol:

When I think Mexican food my mind automatically thinks about TX/NM/AZ & especially Cali. West Coast does Mexican better than anywhere East Coast ever will. In NYC we have a huge Mexican population & there are legit food trucks/fast food & fancy Mexican restaurants all over the 5 boroughs.

But I feel like our Mexican population & influence/foods pales in comparison to of the 4 states I mentioned earlier. TexMex is known countrywide & Cali has dime a dozen legit Mexican food spots like NyC has pizzerias. I've actually never in real life ever heard anyone say NYC has > Mexican food than Cali.

Now, what we really lack here is a good philly cheesesteak. I can only eat halal so I'm lmtd to Crown Fried or halal burger joints that do have phillys. Everytime I order a philly in my city I can't help but laugh since I know what a legit philly is having gone to Philadelphia hundreds of times.

All the pics look 🔥. My man eating well as always 👌. That buss up looks legit.

Twin cities has good Mexican food too.

A lot of places have Mexican food but sometimes it’s weird like when you go to south Florida and it’s central and South Americans making “Mexican” food.

I know some spot in South Dakota that makes fire Mexican food.

Dude is from LA though. He started on a black stone cooking for parties and festivals on the street since there is no regulation there and they basically insisted he opened a real restaurant. :lol

More expensive here to start a business be it a food truck or restaurant and also here they aren’t the dominating Latin American culture. Here they compete with generations of Puerto Rican, Dominican and Colombian immigrants and the new waves that come every year that already have family and networks established. Speaking as a Latino from immigrant parents I mess with Mexican food but presented with a plate of mole and tacos or pernil, rice and beans I’m taking the pernil.
