Late thanksgiving/Christmas trial run today. Did this 11lb turkey at 450° for 30 minutes then down to 300° for an hour or so - until it hit the right temp. Took my eye off it a bit at the end and pulled it at 160° instead of 150° but it looks pretty good to me. Just did salt, pepper and butter on the outside - I think for Christmas I’ll do something a little spicier.

What you’re missing for the whole experience is my dog going crazy behind me - he thinks I’ve been torturing him with this enormous bird for a few days now.
My (first) plate:

Turkey, green beans, corn bread stuffing, other stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, gravy.

Thanksgiving @ grandma's

Consisted of turkey, oven roasted chicken, stuffing, yams, sweet potato, mashes potato, stewed pork, callalou, Mac & cheese, etc. Some other stuff not pictured like home made ice cream and cheesecake

Shockingly, my grandma cooked the majority of the food this time. I got two aunts, my mother, other grown women "aunts"/cousins and they only brought small things. So luckily I got to keep my ham at home while my mom brought hers

Scotland, but yeah. Just the 5 of us but we had a big meal and are watching a movie.

Like I saw this week if people from here celebrated every time we had invaded and usurped a nation we’d never be at work...
