F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

^ Yep. definitely blown out of context. Must've been a real slow news day.

In other news... Jenson to stay in McLaren, after all. Would've been a welcome addition to Ferrari, though.

didn't know this could happen in F1 2011. Wow.

Man, I want to give F1 a chance, glad to see you guys liking it.
[h5]Williams news[/h5]
I can offer more than Kimi - Rubens

http://en.espnf1.com/williams/motorsport/story/60581.html
Rubens Barrichello insists Kimi Raikkonen could not do a better job than him at Williams, amid rumours the 2007 world champion will replace him next season.
"I don't believe that anybody else, including Kimi, can offer anything more than I do," Barrichello was quoted by Autosport. "They already know what I can offer. Young drivers can have more money, but they can also have bad things happen on the first lap and all of that money goes away with crashes.

Great to see Kamui out there in front of the home fans. Get some points young man.

Good move by the FIA to clarify the spots from P7-P10. Kob deserved that P7.

Lewis was so pissed, but he's only got himself to blame. At least he raised his hand and accepted blame. Still...

those errors shouldn't happen.

Yup. That was the first thing I did when I fired up the game, actually (taking out Seb at the first corner).

You have to be on "Hard" difficulty, and set the race distance to at least 20 percent to make it come out. It does pick up the lead driver, and does what it's supposed to do. You can't overtake the guy ahead of you since the game "auto brakes" your car, but when the "SC in this lap" sign is on, you get back full control of your car just before the rolling restart at the final corner... and it's quite easy to overtake before the line (which results in a penalty).

Great drive by Fernando and Jenson. Well-deserved win.
Well, season's not done just yet... four races left. Anyway, congratulations to Seb on his second driver's title.

Better late than never. Welcome.
Massa calls on FIA to take tough stance with Hamilton
"The contact with Hamilton? My car was definitely damaged by it: when I looked at it after the race, I saw there was a bit of the front wing endplate missing and the floor was not on properly on the left hand side and I could feel it in the way my car was behaving," Massa said. "I think the footage speaks for itself: he was struggling with his tyres and I had almost come alongside him and for no reason, he moved over and hit me. I let you be the judge… It's pointless for me to say any more about it."

After the race Hamilton said he had struggled to see Massa in his mirrors, but the Ferrari driver was not interested in Hamilton's version of events and called for the FIA to punish his rival.

"I don't care, to be honest, about what he said," Autosport quoted Massa as saying. "The only thing I care about is what he did. He was so slow in 130R and he stayed on the right-hand side. I was much quicker, I went to the left-hand side and I braked there. I stayed on my line; he moved his car and touched my car. There's nothing more to say. For what he says, I don't care. I care about what the federation says and what the FIA does.

"They have penalised people for much less this year and this time they didn't do it. It's the second time in a row after the problem in qualifying as well in the last race, and after what happened yesterday. And after many times this year. The FIA needs to take care of that. They are the only ones who can take care of that."

Massa said the incident had ruined his chance of a podium.

"Once again I finish a race with a very bitter taste in my mouth," he said. "Today, our pace was good enough to finish on the podium, as Fernando demonstrated, but instead I am here commenting on a seventh place. It's a real shame."

OK pal.
Lewis Hamilton 'gobsmacked' by 'shocking' Japanese GP
Asked by BBC Sport why he thought he struggled for pace, Hamilton said: "I think it's me and how I dial the car in.

"I don't know if I've dialled the car in as good as he [Button] has maybe. Who knows? I'm clearly not driving as well as he is.

"I'm not even thinking about next year. Today was one of the slowest races I've probably ever had in terms of performance so I just need to find out where I lost all that time.

"In qualifying, I was very close, but in the race I couldn't hold onto him to save my life.

"I just need to keep my head up and keep working hard. Hopefully in the next race we'll have another chance."

Great win by Jense, but an even better season by Seb...
Alonso would accept Vettel - Domenicali
http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/driver/2941.html
Stefano Domenicali believes that Fernando Alonso would have no reservations about Sebastian Vettel joining Ferrari in the future.

"Would Alonso accept it? I think so, I think it could work," Domenicali told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Fernando's strength is that he is not afraid of anyone, a force that comes from his maturity."

I'd love to see this happen. I hope they crash each other out of every race.

An interestingly downbeat Lewis today, despite his P1
Perhaps just keeping his emotions in-check and just focusing on the bigger picture... tomorrow's race.

Great lap by him nonetheless... He needs a win in the worse way to get his confidence back up.

Just taking my time until I pounce on the restart... or I'll just wait for DRS to kick in and artificially overtake his $##% Red Bull.

Fell asleep after Vettel took a 10 second lead. Was way too tired to stay up through the race. Wonder what's gonna happen with Hamilton after this season; the broadcasters were saying he was pretty disconnected with the team when the race started.

I think he'll be fine. If McLaren can make a more competitive car, and if Lewis can be just a little more patient, he'll live on the podium next season, just like in the past.
