F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

I kind of believed his presser at the end when he said he was pretty disappointed with the ending of Ferrari not winning the constructors championship. He looked bummed on the podium also. They were so close, I'd imagine there are a lot of "what ifs" for that team to loose it like that, especially with max taking out Oscar on the first lap.

Charles was also probably a bit bummed at the fact that he has nothing to hang his hat on prior to Lewis’ arrival.

No constructors title, no drivers title, fewer than 10 wins and some pole positions.

If they start winning consistently when 44 shows up guess who is getting the credit? 🤣 I wouldn’t be thrilled about that either.

Logically, it should have been Yuki, if anything, for his experience and "seniority"... meanwhile, Liam gets a bit more time in the STR. I still find him a bit rough around the edges. And if things didn't work you, then swap Liam in mid-season.

Obvs RBR has more data to back their decision so it's hard for outsiders to comment on what's "logical", but they've had so many opportunities to put Yuki in and never took it. Looked like it was never gonna happen. Maybe they just don't like him and is just keeping him there to keep Honda happy.

Looks like Hadjar might get the 2nd STR seat.

What does Yuki do now? Keeps getting passed up, but no other seat till Aston-Honda becomes a thing.

Gonna really enjoy watching Yuki outqualify Liam in an inferior car regularly  I see both sides here though. If Yuki is expected to move to AM at some point in the near future because of the Honda link, makes sense to put Liam in now as prep for the regulation change in '26 if they're willing to overlook the fact that he'll get Vandoorned next year and not pressure him like Gasly/Albon were in '19. Otherwise absolutely a terrible choice and our man got robbed

Stroll isn’t going to push Alonso out to make Honda happy.

AM has two drivers pretty close to retirement, nobody needs to get pushed.

The Stroll “retirement” narrative is based on the fact that the people who cover the sport are too simple to know the difference between lack of interest and a diagnosable disability. [I’m not cosigning what that weirdo Italian commentator said about him, however there’s clearly a diagnosable issue present]. Lance is not going anywhere until they’ve exhausted Newey’s services or Senior sells his shares.

I could see Alonso needing to be pushed. He’s already said himself that he’s basically going to try to hold out until he can see a car with Adrian’s influence which basically puts him at 2027.

Lots of pushing could be required especially if the car trends in the right direction with Honda.
