F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

At the Singapore race the price for a cup of beer was the most extreme i've ever seen at an event, $17 for a cup works out to US$13.

They probably price them so high at recents like that to ensure people don’t have 20 beers in one sitting.

Welp... both Maccas just not on it so far, despite all those upgrades. 😞
At least they'll be able to make some setup changes after the Sprint.

All after that and Max puts it on pole. 😅

Welp... Max is back.

P2 would have been great, but P3 is still decent given how fast the Ferraris were (even with their battles).
Tyres were cooked, so Lando was probably lucky to even finish on the podium. Just didn't have the pace today + tyre deg.

And after all that, Max has actually extended his lead to Lando by 1 pt. Just focus on the WCC, please.

A strange Quali with different cars in different places early in Q1 and Q2... Lawson and Gasly came outta nowhere!
Lando nailed his first run, but def got lucky with George's crash cuz Max and probably Carlos were likely gonna jump him.
Even if he doesn't mess up his start, I don't see the Macca's beating the Ferraris and Max. 😕
But I'll take any luck I can get... and hoped they sorted out their deg issues.

Lando folding under pressure again. What a shame. Entertaining sprint, though.
A bit harsh, IMO, cuz his tyres were done... and the margins are so fine.
He had a lot of graining and you could see his laptimes steadily dropping towards the end.
Carlos was so much quicker, so he would have gotten him anyway, lockup or not.
But as far as Sprints go, that was pretty good one.
LOL @ Fernando complaining about Liam racing him. 😅

Missed the Sunday afternoon bottle service smh lol

Saw the replay and  How do you mess up that badly

Welp... Lando actually had a good launch, but he wasn't aggressive enough in slamming the door on Max on the inside. He did move to the left, but not enough as Max obvs had room to divebomb into there. What was most frustrating was that Max forced Lando wide off the track at T1, opening the door for both Ferraris. I think even Max was outside the track limits there, but it wasn't even looked at by the stewards. I'm sure they'll have that down as a lap 1 incident, but it's still frustrating cuz Max has been doing that for years and it never gets looked at. 😕

Obvs frustrated with the incident at T15 cuz Max was also off the track at that point. Hindsight says that the team should have told Lando to give the place back and try again, but the rule about having your car in front at the apex meant that Max could have just eased off the brakes to keep his car in front, even if it meant going off the track. Having said that, credit to Max's defending and positioning of his car with his fight with Lando prior to the incident at T15. That was excellent car placement.

And we shouldn't be surprised by Ferrari's pace. They were good with their tyres at Monza, they were quick at Baku (Osc just made a fantastic overtake for the win) and they were also very fast at Singapore. No one talked about it cuz they had qualified so poorly, but their lap times matched McLaren's... and, of course, they were unbeatable at COTA.

Also, fantastic job by Colapinto and Lawson. Both were superb.

Toto on Lewis going out early:

“100% car. I think he was not even pushing at that stage. We’ve seen it yesterday with George, that was maybe over pushing it but still… losing it, up or up, putting it in the wall… and today, such a situation, there was wind, and there was a little bit of dirty air… We have definitely an issue… I don’t know if was the same yesterday and today but, definitely…. Lewis Hamilton doesn’t lose a car on lap 5 like this.”

just got back from Austin earlier today. was my first live F1 race and definitely an experience. felt like a three day festival with race events. can't remember being part of a crowd that big in a long time. probably the bruins cup parade back in 2011. bummer that lewis had a dud of a weekend but the lando v max fight at the end of the race was awesome to see unfold over the last 10 or 12 laps. definitely looking forward to going to more races in the future

Something I was reminded of that happened while listening to a review podcast, after the formation lap when Lewis was like “damn I’m far back” like he hasn’t won a race from last place before . That made me laugh in the moment. He was not feeling it that day.

Well, that was eventful. P3, I'll take that. Don't think Lando could have gotten more and it's not a bad spot to start from.
But Oscar tho... 😟😟😟 Could be a long day tomorrow.

Carlos is absolutely on fire and so are Ferrari, judging by their longruns. 😓
"The fastest car" title can swing just like that... first it was RBR, then it was McLaren, and now it's Ferrari.
