Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Hey guys,

I stay lurking this thread and now I finally got some reasons to "dress better". I just got an internship with an investment group, the dress is pretty business casual(dress pants/slacks, golf shirt/sport shirts/dress shirts, and dress shoes).

I'm looking to get two more pairs of pants, a few shirts, and a pair of shoes any recommendations?

The shoes I'm looking for are something similar to these http://www.jcpenney.com/dotcom/juni...ss+shoes&colorizedImg=DP1213201217005160M.tif

I'm open to any suggestions, I just need some pointers/places to look. Not looking to spend >350 total, I know I'm on a small budget but I am saving to study abroad.

Thanks in advance!

To stay within your budget, I'd highly recommend checking out the Allen Edmonds/Ralph Lauren sale going on through Monday. Lots of options at $129 and many of us have purchased pairs here in the thread. Check them out here: http://www.ralphlauren.com/family/i...Q&utm_source=Affiliate&utm_medium=J84DHJLQkR4

Drop an email to [email protected] with your size to see what they have in stock.

For pants and shirts, J. Crew Factory is having a sale right now. I picked up a couple of shirts for $26 each after the 50% off discount and stacked with using my student ID for an extra 15% off. Also for pants, I have been wearing Dockers Alpha Khakis for the past 2 years (own 7 pairs, fit is on point) and they have a 30% off $100 sale on their website right now. Otherwise, you can get them for $45 each on Amazon.

Thanks guys repped for the replies

Got a wedding in October...these are on the short list of shoes for my suit (navy suit). Should probably hurry up and decided since it may take a while to get here. Heard Nordstroms is having a shoe sale too gonna go check that out today see whats up

Yes they come out to about $215-217 depending on the conversion rate. I did get hit with a $15.15 customs fee by FedEx after though, still not bad.

I'm looking to get a pair of Carmina dub monks. I'm a size 7 in Converse and a size 8 in Nike. What size do you guys recommend I get in this particular last?

Any feedback would be great.

If those are going to be your only pair then they aren't going to last. Dappered.com gave the shoes a pretty good review but just know that them being suede and not necessarily of the quality of the likes of like Allen Edmonds they wont last if you wear them daily. I would suggest if you get these that you also get their brown leather wingtips from the JCP Stafford brand which are about $50 as well. Rotate between the two during the week and you'll get a decent amount of wears, probably enough to get you through the internship. If you do just want to have 1 good pair of shoes, spend the extra $29 and order a pair from the Allen Edmonds second sale, the RL line for $129.

In regards to pants, honestly if you go to JCP you may as well check there. I know mine had quite a few on clearance and for $30-40 I think you can pick up at least 2-3 if not more. Same with shirts they had a lot of shirts on clearance.

Wis would be best to answer this question but if you are in LA or NY, I would suggest going to Epaulet and trying on a pair. Pretty sure though you're probably a 6.5 or 7 with them.

Just called the shoe bank to see if they had any ralph laurens left in 10.5. They sent me a list and none listed. Waited too long, ah well

E-Mailed them not too long ago with my size. Think you can forward me the list?

Thanks, man. Unfortunately, I'm not located in those areas. I've been following Epaulet for some time but I think the smallest size they offer is a 7. Also, I think they only offer store credit if you end up returning the item you purchased. Trying to avoid that route.

thanks guys! I have a pair of cole Haan leather dress shoes currently and just wanted to get a second pair that will last me for my internship and then be done. I'm going to check out the pants and shirts you guys recommended, repped! Any suggestions on "must have" colors colors if pants? currently I have a black and a khaki pair.

400
. I'm feeling this jacket but is $450 really worth it or wait for a sale?

I have a pair of 11.5 Sanderson's in tan and khaki, I posted the picture a couple pages back, that I'll be returning so just let me know if you're interested so we can find a way to make sure you get them before someone else.

Not a problem!

Then I do think the Clairborne pair would be good enough to last you through the internship. How long is the internship if I may ask?

In terms of "must have" colors, definitely Navy and Gray (and really you can go with whatever shade you like IMO, however the lighter the gray IMO the better it looks with brown shoes). You can pair navy and gray pants with pretty much any shirt(s) you can think of. I would also add a pair of khaki chinos, which as well pair up with pretty much everything (ooops just saw that you have a khaki pair). Black I'm just not a fan off. Shirts try to stick with basic colors and subtle patterns. If you go with patterns go with shirts that the dominant color is white, if checkered cool or stripe great as well make sure those colors are also subdued. I would recommend if you go out and buy 5 shirts to get the following: 1. White Dress Shirt or Sports Shirt (buttoned down collar) 2. Light Blue Dress Shirt or Sports Shirt (buttoned down collar) 3. White/Blue Vertical Stripe 4. White/Blue or White/Lavender micro-check shirt (little small squares made by the colored line) and 5. light pink or lavender solid shirt.

The 5 shirts can get you through the week without doing laundry, the 3 pants including your khaki chinos, as long as you rotate them you're good. Great part is that they all go together.

That must have been misproperly titled because those items are currently on their website as the F/W '13 stuff.

What are ways to "dress up" while being dressed down?

If that makes sense. :lol

Like jogger pants, etc.

Isn't this the fall/winter collection? I don't know, but I'm not a fan of the double breasted vest, its a bit too much.

The backgrounds are very distracting. Can't really get a good idea of what the clothes look like. Bad move by them on that one.

For advertising purposes, I wholeheartedly agree. The stuff is up on their website and some of it, I can get jiggy with. Those double breasted vests are no bueno in my book
