HBO’s ‘Watchmen’ Pilot Casts Regina King, Don Johnson, Four Others

Damon Lindelof’s “Watchmen” pilot at HBO has set a number of actors in key roles, Variety has learned.

Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, and Andrew Howard will all appear in the series, with King in the lead role. King previously appeared on “The Leftovers,” the HBO drama series co-created by Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, based on Perrotta’s novel of the same name.

The exact details of their characters are being kept under wraps.

If he's so damn adamant about not doing a faithful adaptation why not just create something completely different and not tie it to Watchman altogether?
Completely missed that news about Street Fighter...

That dude looks like a 'Bruce Wayne'

Agree 100 percent, and dude can really FIGHT, if he aint Bruce I'd be okay with him playing a villain just for the fight scenes

Quite the opposite. Son turned each down cuz he didn't want to be the guy that did a superhero movie given they were still having a bad name (as far as serious actors go) despite the OG Spider-Man's success cuz there were still X-Men trash around.

Then dude got disllusioned with the business and just wanted to be a regular guy again. So he moved back home (somewhere in middle America I think) and just watched paint dry or farmed.

When he tried to make a comeback it was mostly in B movies until he got a good gig with Penny Dreadful which was good and had a cult following. Then he did interviews talking about he'd totally be open to do any of those superhero movies, he just needs to get the call

Poor fool passed up A-list roles thinking he was Cruise or DiCaprio, then saw guys like Maguire, Garfield, and Bale get their careers on a higher level to make bank and basically tried to walk back his stance and change his tune too late.

this is great. I did not know this and always wondered. Dude is an idiot for that.

Eh, at the time marvel studios wasn’t around so being in superhero movies could be hit or miss. What superman role did he turn down, superman returns? That movie was a big disappointment anyway. What batman movies? If it was the stuff before nolan then he avoided those goofy movies.

He turned down Raimi's Spider-Man, Nolan's Batman, and Superman Returns.

Granted Returns sucked and arguably ruined Routh's career to a point he no longer does feature films but that's a hindsight judgement.

He turned down 3 A-list roles and he's not an A-list actor. Any of those roles could've made grown his career and made him a movie star. If the timing is right he could've done 2 of the 3 roles.

This ain't even about Marvel studios success. Dude made poor career decisions.

The a-list money for those roles would’ve been good but after the spiderman movies tobey really hasn’t been in anything major except maybe great gatsby. bale has been in some ok stuff after batman but the guy is talented anyway.

You just making excuses here

Since the first Spidey, Tobey has gone on to be a major producer.

Son is getting paid.

A-list money is more than half of why most actors want to become movie stars. Then there's those who do it for awards and most will tell you they do it to tell stories and entertain.

Hartnett made a foolish mistake.

Yeah those Spidey flicks probably set Tobey up for life and for him to reinvest and be a major producer.

I wouldnt mind being remembered as someone who played Spiderman either.

As for Routh its unfortunate his career got ruined by Superman Returns smh

I think I would've liked him for Nolan's Batman... Oh well

*edit

I think I can understand his thought process... Casting for Spiderman came out at a time when comic book movies was just starting to make a comeback. Maybe he wasn't sold on the genre. He dodged a bullet with Returns. Superman Returns came out in 2006 and it sucked... Probably that was fresh on his mind when he was asked to do Batman.

He was asked to do a movie with Nolan though.

Like man's not smart. He could've got an in to being one of the actors Nolan rotates in all of his movies.

Even liked his cameo in Sin City and his role in 30 Days of Night
