Matthew Vaughn Has Talked To WB About A Number Of Projects

Kingsman: The Golden Circle director Matthew Vaughn - who we know has discussed the Man of Steel sequel with the studio - is looking to save this comic book world and confirms that he's spoken to Warner Bros. about a number of DC projects.

"I do love the world of DC, and I’ve been talking to them at the moment about a few things," he revealed in a chat with IGN. "It’s more fun getting involved with franchises when they’re on the down, because then it’s easier to make a good film. So if I got involved with a few of the superhero films out there that have been disappointing, it’s going to be… if I do OK, it’ll probably be better."

"So when I did X-Men there was, you know, a pretty low bar — X-Men 3, no offense, was not a fantastic piece of work," Vaughn added. "It’s much more fun saving and reinventing something — I’d be more intimidated trying to do a new Guardians [of the Galaxy], for example."

"If I was going to do Batman, there’s no point doing the Dark Knight, because it’s been done to perfection — if I was doing Batman, I’d go ‘Christ, let’s bring out the Adam West version,'" Vaughn added, teasing a take on Batman which would probably be pretty divisive. "I’m not interested in copying somebody else’s take on the genre. I’ve got to figure out what I’m doing next and I feel like flexing a muscle which I haven’t used before. And I’ve filmed quite a few superhero movies."

:lol

not sure Disneys gon' care much when it's going to be only trailing TFA in $$$ and probably on it's way to close to $2b anyways

BO $$$ + checks to RT% = Rian with his own trilogy

:lol

i dunno man. the last jedi leaving such a bad taste in a big chunk of the star wars fanbase mouth disney may want to not only start from scratch but start with a clean slate. anything with rian johnson name attached to it gonna get the eyebrow from many from now on.

this ***** musta been high or something doing last jedi

I'm a casual fan looking on the outside and I get the hate it's gotten from the diehard fans but I do think it's still a minority...?

Critics loved it. General Audience loved it. More than half of the audience reviews seems to be troll jobs (movie is no half a star, it's not Fan4stic level). It's crushing the BO.

Hell there are bots creating bad reviews for the film and other users making multiple accounts to bring the score down as much as possible :lol

Again, casual fan here and I have no dog in the fight but I just don't think the outrage is as huge as it actually is or at least not big enough where Disney might care and change plans.

It's gon' take a big drop due to bad word of mouth and the film not making $1.5b for them to do a course correction. I guess we'll see if all the bad audience reviews will affect it's second week BO.

i just dont get how anyone can say its a good film. you remove the star wars branding and we are looking at a hot ******* mess

im bout to go see twilight in space again tomorrow. pray for me that i like it a bit more

I think it will take a big drop off on the second week. Don't get me wrong, it'll still make massive amounts of money. But I sense that the negative push back will hurt it's overall worldwide gross.

Don't think there's a negative word of mouth outside of the internet. If it doesn't have a great second weekend, it just speaks to it not being that great of a film to people

She looked like she was grossed out. Looking like professor snape covered himself in baby oil.

Matthew Vaughn Wanted Mark Millar To Team Up With Him For MAN OF STEEL 2

We've known for a while that Warner Bros. is interested in Vaughn taking charge of that project and while he's mulling over a number of DC Comics adaptations, he sounds particularly keen on reinventing Superman. Unfortunately, Millar has explained why he could say yes to his friend's surprising offer.

"He and I are massive Superman fans. I mean, we worship Richard Donner. We love the Christopher Reeve movies. He actually phoned me up a few months ago, and he said, “Hey, listen, DC, they’re very interested in me doing Man of Steel 2. Do you want to come in and do this?’ And I was like, ‘I’m exclusive to Netflix for years. We can’t even have that conversation.’ And he was like, ‘Oh, man. What’s the chances of this?’ And then he kind of drifted away. And he’s attached himself to a couple of things and all that. Y’know so, it’s one of those things that might, I mean — if somebody phones Matthew up and offers him enough money it could all change tomorrow."

Matthew Vaughn's SUPERMAN Movie Would Reportedly Be A "Big, Vast Fun Epic"

Millar has now shed some light on Vaughn's possible plans for the hero and they sound pretty exciting!

"It was actually a massive, uplifting, hopeful thing," he says of how the filmmaker's take on the character would differ to previous iterations. "There’s no point doing Superman unless you feel good. You should walk out of ‘Superman’ just feeling like a million dollars. You should feel great after a Superman film. The movie itself was going to be a big, vast fun epic. But 'Superman’s got to be a laugh, as well."
