As a dude that works on a daily basis in a prison, I can tell you that a lot of drug traffickers get life sentences.

A lot of it has to do with priors. Rarely do you see someone getting life right out the gate with their first felony conviction.

I know countless dudes who done time (Fed and State) who'll say the same thing
