there are rules change every 2 years.. the rules committee is actually made up of mostly coaches and i believe 1 official is elected out of a panel of 20. the "Euro" has been "allowed" in college and HS for last 5 seasons.Good to have an expert opinion in here for these calls.
Do you get annoyed by the amount of Euro-steps in modern basketball?

this season the "harden" step back got approved for NCAA but still not for HS.
yea as the game changes and evolves so do the rules. the 1st year of a rules year is always a tough one. i remember the year the "cylinder" block play got instituted... alot of guys got it wrong and techs were given out. It’s interesting - I know these sorts of calls were getting called on me back in the day - I remember the hop step coming out and causing an uproar. Just means the game has changed - which it always will
imagine taking an elbow to the face and a block being called on you...
the average basketball fan is mainly watching the NBA... their rules are slightly different hence why i have emphasized that NCAA/HS that move was a travel. the ncaa game is still the purest of the all only because HS doesn't have the 3' restricted arc under the basket..Hmm. I see your screen shot but don’t see how anyone can watch the video and call that left foot as “step 1”.
Besides that there are countless examples of step throughs being legal in college
