Basketball Thread About Nothing

All these techs is wild. Poor girl with the travel calling timeout. I see no travel there, and that was a petty call smh. Dude with the tech for hanging on the rim cmon now. If he let go right away he woudda fell on his side. Dude with the clap after the layup also really now. Maybe if he cursed out loud with the clap but still cmon. Taking all the emotion out the game.

Didnt Lowry or someone get called for tech for tossing the ref the ball recently too?

These refs needs get fined or suspended smh. Joey Crawford must be their life idol.

Explain to me how this is not a travel. They all pick up their pivot foot before the ball is released from their hands
They release the ball before the pivot foot touches the ground which is legal

I’ve been playing ball for 30yrs ( playing both collage and semi pro early 2000s) and it’s always been when your pivot foot is lifted not when it is lifted and then hits the ground again.

From my understanding, it is OK but you have to shoot or pass it

Explain what happens to your pivot foot when you do a regular, moving one footed layup.

Is it NOT lifted once you take your SECOND step?

Let me articulate it better, both feet have to leave the grown at the same time and you must pass or shoot. You can not lift your Pivot foot and take another step to advance your position.

I will find vids of the difference but it’s a very distinct difference between the two

Like if youre stuck at the 3 and your pivot is your left but you use your right foot to hop to one side or forward and shoot before you land?

Im confusing myself now. Where the NT refs at. These traveling tings and step throughs got complicated

Traveling calls do get confusing sometimes nowadays but this ain’t even complicated

so, Liz’s move is 100% clean

Nobody link him to @mdwbasketball, man will have a heart attack lol
I’ve stated my case with examples . Feel free to link me a College player or player in the league that does what WNBA players do.

I have plenty of examples I can post up an up and under that is not a travel but not one step through.

No sweat off my back if I am prone wrong but like I said I have first hand experience in everything from pick up games to pro and what Liz does is a travel everywhere else besides womens basketball

I agree with kaz109 kaz109 but I respect DCAllAfrican DCAllAfrican and usually agree with his posts so I feel like there has to be some merit in the opposing view.

But to me, you start from the basic understanding that if you've stopped your dribble, you now have

1 pivot foot
1 foot you can move

We can agree on that right. Like if you dribble and come to a stop, you have 1 pivot foot, and you can move your other foot anywhere.

If those step throughs in the video, and by Cambage are legal, then you're getting multiple pivot feet. Like lets say you do the step through like Cambage. She picks the ball up and stops her dribble and her pivot foot is her right foot. That's easily discernible because she uses it (her right foot) on the ground to pivot with.

Then she steps through and picks it up and now her pivot foot is her left foot and she has picked up her right foot.

She moved her pivot foot. My basic understanding having, like kaz109 kaz109 played basketball for longer than he has but without the pro stuff in there, is that you can't pick up your pivot foot and make another move. You can pick up your pivot foot to shoot, and once you do that you have to let the ball go before your feet hit the ground.

But rather than trying to argue, I legitimately want to understand how people who are saying it isn't a travel, are getting around the easily viewable part where you can now move your pivot foot after establishing it, and create a 2nd pivot foot.

Man. That’s a long video that only takes a few seconds to explain 😂

5:23 when Dev asks what does the rules say, ref says you can lift your pivot foot to shoot or pass

End of discussion, good night

Just for fun kaz109 kaz109 Tell me how you feel after browsing this page, trying to see something

I'm lazy af to look up videos but Kobe did it a bunch if that makes it more convincing for you lol
