I don’t even know what’s going on but weird people losten to something reddick says.

Almost certain it was an honest mistake but the skeptical hippo in me thinks how do you even say that accidentally unless you've been saying it regularly

Unintentional based off the fact that I don't think any player would do that on purpose when the team is doing a promotional video specifically for Chinese people, but I wouldn't be surprised if dude is racist. I read on RealGM that one of his exes alleges he called her a **** (racial slur for hispanics) in an email.

That apology was trash too.

I think it was an honest mistake and if you actually hear it, it’s not like he clearly said it. His apology was trash though and should have been much better. Also not sure how this clip got pass through all these people and nobody noticed he might have said a racial slur to the fans it’s meant for.

Cause there was a report a few years ago apparently of his hispanic ex alleging that he called her a racial slur. She doesn't look like a reliable source, which is why I'm kind of discounting it partly as well. I read that she tried to pull something with Shaq as well. This looks accidental enough on it's face, but two incidents, I just wouldn't be surprised tbh.

At the moment though, it just looks too accidental and the situation overall is too iffy for me to get upset about it. He should come with a better apology than that though regardless of his intentions.

FWIW, a part of me does believe his reasoning.

At the same time I can't see how when fumbling his words, THAT word came out.

I had a thought that no athlete would purposely say that in a promo, but then I remembered the Spain National team.

Tongue -tied, maybe.... I have a hard time imagining it was deliberate. Possibly a Freudian slip type of thing. If only he just kept it simple and said sorry. Reminds me a little bit of Shaq's "joke" about Yao his rookie season. But then again, sometimes, the unimaginable happens too. Remember the ESPN article headline about Linsanity and "***** in the Armor".

I'm surprised that I still come across people who think this stuff is ok to say, albeit without any malice. Then again, I'm not that surprised :smh:, H&M hoodie for example. Which reminded me of Abercrombie's blatant racism back in the day.

The overall blatant commercial pandering by NBA to Chinese fans is too much. It's nice to acknowledge and try, but don't really need to hear players wish Happy New Year. And certainly not after that vid.

Original vid

Edit: sure he may have been tongue tied or was trying to hard be street slang talking. Don't care. Still annoying.

One of the last names to be confirmed dead from the FL school shooting: Peter Wang. Chinese kid whose Parents speak limited English. We should remember them ALL and their families in our thoughts and prayers, but always gets me when seeing an Asian face as victim of any crime.
Feel for the kid and family. Peace.

Why daF would they allow a commercial to tool around such a beautiful area?! Forget the car, disturbs the serenity of the location:

I remember hearing about the Philippines cracking down on drugs. Does anyone know how that's going? Or what the general opinion on that president is now from the average Filipino?

From what my friends from Manila have told me...

Many rich/well off people have no issue with what he's doing since his crackdowns are mostly targeting the poor people that they look down on or just don't give a ##%@ about :smh: to them it's "cleaning up our society", meanwhile rich politicians/businessmen's kids are out doing drugs all night long with no repurcussions. It's very similar to the mentality here in the US, sadly

+1 and to add, dudes own son was revealed to be a drug dealer/user of course nothing happened. People getting gunned down in the streets by cops and vigilanted but everyone is still drinking the Duterte kool-aid HARD. Its a cult seriously. And if youre not, youre a hater or a "yellow-tard" or fake news :|

Its very similar to here, people are big time duterte supporters until their son/nephew/brother/baby gets shot up by dudes on motorcycles on a drive by at the house because someones uncle is a drug user. When i was out there id watch the news and its like showing a wake with a baby coffin :( :|

Trump called up Duterte to congratulate him on his drug crackdown "efforts". We already have our police murdering so many innocent minorities for no justifiable reason (and getting full support of half the population), but if it were up to Trump and his inbred supporters, it would definitely be at the same scale as the PI.

They were touting Duterte as "Trump of the East" which made sense to me because theyre both clowns and idiots. Its crazy the inbreds who cape for Trump and get destroyed by his policy are parallel to the poor folk who cape for Duterte and get murdered in the streets by his vigilantes/cops

I hate Duterte. I noticed that Fil-Ams don't like him, but Philippines-raised Filipinos literally worship his ***.

My family would say, "Be lucky that you're here. You don't know what life is like in the Philippines, so you don't have the right to oppose Duterte and what he's doing at all. He's doing a good thing." :smh:

Extremely ironic because Filipinos are extremely religious -- doesn't the Bible say that you shouldn't kill? Hypocrites. Cruel hypocrites.

Like frink85 frink85 said, it's all good until it's one of your own family members that's gunned down.

Scary how that applies to shootings here too...Americans don't have much to act superior about

Ever lived in the Phils ? I grew up there till I was 10. Family is well off. Erap was the godfather at my cousin's wedding since my uncle is a major backer. Dutertre was supposed to show in the wedding too since my uncle was spearheaded the chinese filipino chamber of commerce advisory convoy with Duterte to China after he got elected.

The Phis went from a top asian country to the bottom in under a century. Why ? Government corruption.

People like Duterte because he symbolized the shift of power from Manila to Davao. He also represented the fight on drugs which did messed up poor peoples lives for a few generations. Not only the upper class likes the results so far, but also the working class. I would visit the Phils 3 times a year and would inquire to the working folks about Duterte. His strict stance in petty crime and drugs made Manila much more safer. It seems like people are willing to give up a bit of liberty for safety because its that bad.

Then again, he teamed up with the Marcos Clan. That family is the reason the Philippines is went the best in Asia after WW2 to now one of the worst countries.

Filipinos are dumb. I say that with all respect but us/we/they can't or most likely don't want to look deeper. Duterte goes on TV curses and talks crap on China and the crowd cheers. In real life hes letting China run all over the Spratlys and the Philippine Sea. He gave a blogger/"porn star" who slobs his knob on the internet a government position and the crowd cheers. Anything bad, blame it on the Aquinos or "his enemies" and the crowd cheers. The kool-aid is full of cut up hot dogs and everyones drinking.

I lived there from 2010-2017 for school, around Sampaloc area. Sad to say corruption is never going to go away. Duterte talks big but hes surrounded by yes men and nepotism and an old boys network of hooking up your fam and friends with positions/jobs. Doesnt matter who, marcos to aquino to GMA to erap to duterte.

I don't want to insult your fam but I can't get down with Erap. Impeached as president and shown to be corrupt...few years later becomes mayor of Manila.

edit: giving up a bit of liberty is one thing, people being massacred in the streets is another. the cops and the vigilantes arent looking for drugs or dealers or shabu labs, theyre coming in guns blazing. "war on drugs" weve heard that story before...

I only vacationed in the Philippines for a few months. Haven't been back since 2005.

Regarding the statement in bold, that's my family's argument as well. To be fair, he is actually doing **** compared to Noynoy. However, it might be the Fil-am in me, I still think Duterte's approach is cruel. =\ Police don't give a **** over and kill whoever they please. Corruption just is unfair to the people back home.

Yeah. It's ridiculous. Like someone above said, his following is literally cult-like and it's disturbing. Almost like Trump's cult. And you mean Mocha Uson, right? :nerd::lol:

Feel free to insult... I wont take it to heart. Its Erap. They're just mob bosses guised as politicians. His family needs to die slowly.

Previously to the wedding, last time i saw him,he was at Sapphires during the may-pac fight. He brought his youngest son (probably 20) and, his current wife and mistress, plus the entourage. What a guy, he moves like he is 90 years old.

About a month ago there was suppose to be a DOTA 2 tournament in the Philippines.

A lot of the major teams dropped out once they found out they were gonna be drug tested. Valve dropped their sponsorship, cutting the prize pool from $1 mil to 500k.
