adidas Continues to Dominate the Market Vol. nike hold this kevin hart

I'm sure Kendrick is rocking Jordan's now. He's just not name dropping them in his songs or posting pictures of him licking the soles.

which clothing industry has ever imploded in modern history?

domestic manufacturing side. i seen a nike bible da other day and i forgot how abundant USA made nike kicks & gear was.

the thing is Jordan brand died because hypebeasts moved onto Adidas, Adidas will probably stay around at #2 for a while but I can't see them ever challenging Nike for #1 unless Nike's corporate team is so out of touch they don't get it but signing Kendrick tells me they get it

Adidas is #2 with 11%

nike is #1 with 43%

there's no way Nike gives up that big of a lead in da United States.

their portfolio is too thoro, Nike could sleep walk for da rest of my life and it would still be #1.

Jordan Brand however can fall further than #3

or reclaim #2 if they sharpen up their team Jordan offerings outside da retros/hybrids.

Nike should have never got rid of kanye. Once ye, the kardashian/jenner clan, and all of the taste makers associated with them switched to adidas all their ig followers switched too. I know it sounds like i'm giving them way too much credit but they literally have millions upon millions of followers who watch their every move, dye their hair like them and wear the clothes and shoes that they do.

Nike refused to tool their marketing to "casual" and put performance to da backseat because tbey don't see themselves as a "casual brand"

i can respect that, it might hurt for a few years, but i respect em for being true to themselves.

Jordan's brand prestige is falling. The younger crowd doesn't have the "Jordan's > everything" mindset. They didn't really grow up in a time where either MJ was playing or his shoes were held to a high standard. They grew up on price gauging, difficult releases and cheap, plastic "leather".

So when dude mensions BC3, a 15 year old probably isn't going to be too pressed to get those.
Nostalgia for that item isn't there for them.

The trend setters and stars these days aren't really boosting the Jordan name even if they are wearing a pair. Most name drops tend to be designer stuff.

da "supreme X Jordan" release was only a year or so back...its easy to get JB back into pocket.

actually what's being ignored here is Jordan Brand didn't "lose" market share, they grew... problem is Adidas Doubled their marketshare in one year.

i still say, peep da collapse of UA before you look at Nike, but their gonna have to stop being cynical of their brand prestige erroding because of sales prices.

I don't think people look to Kendrick for fashion.

I'm sure Kendrick is rocking Jordan's now. He's just not name dropping them in his songs or posting pictures of him licking the soles.

I'm pretty sure they didn't sign him without a plan in place

Adidas made the current model now it's time for other brands to adapt to cut their market share down, hell UA signed ASAP Rocky

You hit the nail on the head with nike failing at the casual market right now. Vans and adidas is smoking them right now. I need nike to get their head outta their *$$ and stop raising prices.

Asap rocky can't style that #$&*, curry can't even sell em and he's hitting shots from the locker room.

Yup.

Jordan is in the realm of Converse. The right release in the right quantity will sell out (see the retros of the lakers Weapons or Dr J), but your run of the mill numbered Jays will sit and hit the sales racks.

That's really because basketball kicks don't fit today's youth fashion.

Realistically Jordan Brand would be just fine re-releasing original color ways of XI's, 1's, III's and IV's. Where Jordan Brand failed was over saturating the market and cheapening the overall product. Back in the day when a new Air Jordan was released it was a big deal. Now you have a retro or a new color way dropping every weekend. It has become redundant and people aren't gravitating to the Air Jordan line anymore. Maybe that will change with Russ becoming the 'new' face of Jordan Brand but I don't see today's youth seeing the transition from the court to off court like the Air Jordan use too.

adidas struck lighting in the bottle with Boost. Boost single handily saved adidas. I believe that adidas recent up swing is good for the market. Nike got lazy and over confident and the increased competition is only going to benefit us consumers.

UA is in deep trouble but if they look at adidas model they know they still have a chance but they had better find an innovative product to save them. They either evolve like adidas did or fade away into relative obscurity like Reebok.

UA is DOA in my opinion

Nike will recover always be #1 by a large margain and Adidas will stick around, Puma is the one company I could eventually see challenge Adidas for #2

UA needs some better designers for their athletic apparel and footwear. I think they've only been making shoes for about 10 years. The recent Currys looked fine. They can also get more into lifestyle apparel as well.

Endorsements would definitely play a major part in how much traction they gain. Steph was a good choice. They would've lucked up with Cam if he won the Super Bowl.

UA doesn't have a casual appeal bone it its body.

Jordan and nike can crank up nostalgia easy.

Asap rocky just signed to UA

I think that's the start of their answer to that.

ASAP Rocky aren't even wearing UAs to this day, I am not sure what kind of deal they signed him to but he still wears whatever he wants.

Unless they're giving him yeezy level creative control and lets him do his own thing, they have nothing in the vault for him to work with.

It could be a hit if they let him bring a vlone-esque style in and not get in the way.

I mean he HAS to make a new shoe cuz they don't have any casual ones in the bank like ninja said.

I think it could be good.

The rocks shoe surprised the hell outta me design and sales wise

Big fan of the Rock's shoe. But I'll be straight upX would never cop bc its under amour

Honestly, it's amazed me how long the Jordan brand has stayed relevant. I'm 29 and I can only remember the tail end of Jordan's career with the Bulls. No one under 25 can really remember his prime, heck high schoolers nowadays weren't even alive during his run with the Wizards . His brand was destined to fall off eventually.

Never seen an MJ game and I preferred foams during the sneaker craze.
