2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

That team isn't built for Vogel's style, he's not an offensive maven.

Neither is Nate though, he's said he's changing his style and will play fast but the hire is still confusing to me.
Not going to debate vogels offensive prowess, I was just thinking more get them to play defense and a more all around style

I don't think he'd have any trouble coaching any roster to be honest

What is Blake doing in this scenario?
Not on the team

Nah that was just pure fantasy, I was just imaging how dope that would be.

Although like I alluded to in the Clipper thread, I wouldn't be surprised to see blake moved by the end of this summer, or by the next trade deadline. I know for a fact the Clippers are more open to trading blake than what they're giving off publicly.

Rim protection is LIT.

You gotta trade Blake for a young star and a lot of pieces.
Oh it's in the air and they are seriously considering it. They were seriously considering it at the deadline once they found out that the Clips misdiagnosed his quad and that it was worse than they originally thought it was.

Agreed, he's a great coach and he will flourish in Orlando with that young squad that he can mold.

jimmy will never be loved like rose was. not even just in chicago, but country wide. i dont think there was anybody that disliked the kid. jimmy seems like an f boy. the type to scheme on your shorty behind your back and tell her to talk to other birds and you dont tip.
Never thought about it but it's true. Everyone makes their D rose jokes but who actually dislikes him? Nobody. Nobody just straight up dislikes Derrick.

Well one of the main reasons why Bird let Vogel go was because he felt Vogel was too lax and didn't discipline the squad enough
Makes sense why Bird promoted Nate, but at the same time, couldn't Bird have found a better coach in the market?

Clips gotta bring in more young talent, a top 3 pick with more first rounders plus a perimeter player on the rise would be exactly what they need.

I love Blake, he's one of my favorite players in the league but he's had a lot of health problems and I also believe the relationship with the franchise is fracture especially with the medical staff.

I think it's best for both to move on, Blake has as much value as possible right now with him expiring next year.

Blake disappointed me with the ordeal.. gotta question where the guys head is.. He still produced when he returned so I wouldn't trade him

I'm giving their core one more season

Facts.

Doubt its true.. But whats this "Jimmy to LA for the #2" talk?  just that more than likely talk.

Oh I love blake too and I seriously think the Clips roster last year was as good as it's going to get as far as contending for a title.

But if like in some magical world where we moved on from blake and had Ibaka as our starting PF I would love it

plus I reaaaalllyyy am leaning on Blake not being on the team much longer. Doc isn't the highest on blake.

But Awwsome is right though. Clips keep rolling out a roster of core 4 + Crawford and vet minimum / MLE guys and while they are strapped financially and are always picking late in the draft, moving on w/one of the big 3 (Blake) could be the best way to move up in the draft and draft some young talent.

Considering the fact that CP and / or Blake may not even be on the team next year, getting some infusion of young talent at this juncture could be critical for them.

Oh great, another discussion on CP0
Where's Chester to make sense of this?

But that's the thing, Blakes value is highest for a trade now.

I don't believe in sticking with this core for 1 more year for them to be the 4 seed, lose in the second round to GSW and then have no young assets while having to resign Blake for the max or let him walk for nothing.

Just depends on what this mean for Chris. Are you trying to get guys who can compete for a title now? That's what Chris is looking for

They can't win a title as currently constructed, they aren't beating OKC or GSW in 7 games so it's a moot point.

Trading Blake would be dumb as hell which means it's a real possibility with doc in charge. Chris 'dribble dribble' Paul is the one that should be moved, probably a year or two ago tbh

Just saying, Chris won't want to stick around so then we talking a full scale blow up?

Chris on the wrong side of 30, he has 2 years of his prime left max.

I love and he's a HOF player but if they have to move him too that's just what they have to do.

As long as they transition nicely while picking up assets and keeping cap room, they'll be fine.

This isn't the old Clippers who couldn't sign anybody, FA's will go there now.

clips need to upgrade the 2/3 positions.
they should be all in on jimmy

bulls probably aren't taking any long term contracts? it'll be interesting to see if they are blowing it all up

I'm all for blowing em up if it don't work out this year. I guess I just see it as they won't set the franchise back by holding on to the core one more year. The window is just about shut I agree with that
