A-Rod Approached Yankees About Contract Buyout

Alex Rodriguez reached out to the New York Yankees on Saturday in an attempt to discuss a possible settlement on the remaining $100 million he is owed, according to a source.

The Yankees declined to discuss the matter with Rodriguez, claiming that his future relates to the drug investigation being conducted by Major League Baseball.

Many believe Rodriguez talked himself out of a possible settlement with the league offices. He faces a potential 214-game suspension, according to reports.

Rodriguez's comments following a rehab game on Friday night indicated he felt Major League Baseball and the Yankees were conspiring to keep him off the field in order to void his contract.

^ definitely don't believe that. Alex and his people have been saying we're fighting this. Both sides keep claiming that the opposing side has reached out multiple times

I don't believe anything the Yankees say in this matter. They're trying to get out of an indescribably horrible contract which everyone said was horrible when it was signed.

Cashman has to be the most overrated GM of the past 20 years and this is his chance to salvage his "legacy". Over the past few years, Cashman has been exposed as somewhat of a moron who basically rode the co-tails of the Yankees great farm system early in his career. Cashman is probably done with the Yankees in a few more years unless he can pull this off.

If MLB bans A-ROD, he will expose all. It'll be Canseco to the 100th power. It'll blow up MLB, Of course the Yankees don't care because they figure when it comes to MLB, they'll be the last man standing anyway.

A-ROD won't be banned or his contract voided for this reason. MLB can't afford to take a chance on him exposing all their dirty secrets.

A-ROD is as dirty and as they say and a cheater (is it cheating when those whoa re tasked to enforce the rules look the other way?) but MLB and the Yankees didn't seem to care when he was generating massive amounts of revenue for them.

I'd rather see A-ROD win this.

FTR Cashman didnt want to sign AROD to that contract...
Says who? Cashman?

Ultimately, any deal is not the GM's call. He brings his opinion to the owners and they decide. It's their business and money so the buck stops with them.

However, I don't believe for a second that Cashman didn't want to sign AROD. Maybe not to a 10 year deal but he couldn't get him any other way. Cashman doesn't know how to operate any other way. He's no Beane or Epstein. In fact, when it comes to him trying to acquire "bargain" players, his record atrocious.

Michael Kay just said that the MLB informed the Yankees that Alex will be suspended tomorrow for PEDs and not violating the CBA. He can appeal tomorrow and should be in the lineup :wow:

Looks like that ****** Bud Selig was bluffing if Buster and Michael Kay aren't making **** up.

wow, the circus is really about to begin :smh:

hope girardi got some blow or some real good whiskey handy

They cannot **** on AROD because he will expose MLB.  I don't doubt that the allegations are true (including routing other players into PEDS) and because of this dude knows a lot.

The biggest blow up will be the fact that higher ups in MLB (ownership and the league) not only looked the other way but condoned PED use for many, many years. PED use is a systemic problem in all pro sports.

They can't do him too dirty.

I legit don't even like you people but it will be pathetic of Selig and MLB to suspend A-Rod more than his peers. Everyone involved in the game allowed this PED epidemic to occur--to sit there and call for Rodriguez's head is typical of the hypocrites ruining society today.
