2013 College Football Thread (Realer than Real Deal Holyfield -->S/O Craftsy)

mike Gundy is interviewing with Vols today **facepalm** this is just a money grab for T Boone to pay up on an extension or restructure

   i was shocked at all the people writing, "...if texas beats k-state..." have y'all watched a texas game in the last 3 years?

Late, but on that Georgia play to end the game, the 'instinct' angle is not cutting it. WR's are coached in the 2 min drill to knock down balls if its under x amount of seconds and you can't get out of bounds. This is normal D1 WR coaching. 2 min, 1 min, situational drills are practiced every week just for this purpose. I can't believe that they don't practice this so it's on the player to execute it

Butch Jones has been picked up by the Purdue private jet in Cincinnati as of 10:45am this morning, UC fans nervous.

Brandon Saho ‏@BrandonSaho

Expecting Butch Jones to be announced as Purdue's football coach this afternoon, he's on campus now in West Lafayette.

When will Cincy get a coach that will stay and ride things out? :smh:

Fsu is quietly melting in the 4th .... Again
Jimbo at status quo ain't cuttin it ... Either we get a real coordinator or we will never see a respectable offense ... Fisher acts nervous and sporadic in close games ... The HC should be the most arrogant motherf*****r on the team ... Jimbo ain't that dude....
#3EJSUCKS
Winston '13 please

Jimbo is probably more arrogant than a HC who lost to NCSU, UVA & Wake Forest should be. We've lost games due to his arrogance

And as far as the game last night, I was drinking pretty much during the whole game but it looked like a continuation of the UF game and other games this year. WR's being wide open and the QB not seeing them and holding the ball. For instance on the sack/fumble 'Shad was WIDE open for 6 and he was right in EJ's line of view but he held the ball and got sacked. What's an OC to do? Had Coley called the play what would have been different?

Actually stay longer than 3 seasons and show recruits the revolving door has stopped. Its viewed as a bridge job to prove yourself.

Cincy is not and will never be a destination job unless an ex-player turned coach decides to make it that

It IS a bridge job though, is it not?

Yeah at this point, that's how it treated.

Cincy is not and will never be a destination job unless an ex-player turned coach decides to make it that

This.

Someone will have to make it a destination job.

Not every big coaching job started as a destination job. It may very well never be on Bama or LSU's level but it can still be a that can be very competitive with time.

Realistic expectations there.

The Huskers gave Northern Illinois an early Christmas BCS bowl present.
NIU vs Florida State in the OB :x

Supposedly OU will still get in but we will see...NIU has a SOS of 120....think about that.

OU in Sugar vs FLA or OU in Cotton vs Georgia....BIG XII coaches should be having OU as high up as possible and NIU as low as possible, they need to remember they all split that BCS money.

Nebraska is a joke.

Could be worst BCS games ever.

I can see jordan lynch going ham against FSU :nerd: :nerd:

Every time they tweak BCS rules it blows up in their faces and gets more ****ed up. They change it from top 12 to top 16 presumably for ND and now we're sweating northern Illinois.

They should just do away with the conference championships and BCS and just do the top 16 for a playoff

I agree but this will never happen

Cincy is going to have to go to an alumnus who wants the job like Syracuse did with Marrone. It wasn't a job that people wanted, but at least it hasn't become a revolving door and won't for a few more seasons.

This guy could have been at SU instead of Marrone:
USF fires Skip Holtz, sources say

By Brett McMurphy
ESPN

Skip Holtz has been fired after three seasons at South Florida, sources said Sunday. Holtz was 16-21 at USF, including 5-16 in Big East play. This season, the Bulls, picked second in the Big East's preseason poll, went 3-9 (1-6 in the Big East). It was the worst season in USF's 16-year history. In its last 16 Big East games under Holtz, USF was 2-14. Holtz and Jim Leavitt are the only coaches in USF history and both were fired -- but for different reasons. Holtz was dismissed for his lack of on-the-field success, Leavitt for his off-the-field actions, which included hitting a player in the locker room. Holtz, who received a contract extension from athletic director Doug Woolard despite going 5-7 last season, will receive a $2.5 million buyout, paid out over five seasons.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Virginia quarterback Michael Rocco is transferring.

Coach Mike London says he met Friday with the junior quarterback who started 21 games in the past two seasons and granted Rocco's request to be released from his scholarship.

Rocco plans to complete the current semester at Virginia.

Rocco started all 13 games as a sophomore and led Virginia to an 8-5 record and its first bowl game since the 2007 season.

He began this season as the starter after winning the job in preseason competition with Alabama transfer Phillip Sims. Rocco started the first five games, then lost the job to Sims after the Cavaliers lost three straight.

Rocco regained the job -- and most of the playing time -- for the last two games of the season.
Fan has life-threatening injuries

Associated Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A 22-year-old man was in critical condition after sustaining life-threatening injuries from falling about 40 feet off a fourth-floor ramp outside Bank of America Stadium on Saturday night at the ACC Championship between No. 13 Florida State and Georgia Tech. The Charlotte Observer reported that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police identified the victim as Sean Michael Powers, a resident of New Port Richey, Fla. It's unclear if he was a student at Florida State. Michael Stanford, the supervisor of special operations for Mecklenburg County EMS, said his agency responded to an incident in which a spectator fell from a ramp leading to the stands shortly after the 8 p.m. kickoff. The fall is thought to be the first of its kind for Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers. The stadium opened in 1996. Stanford said the spectator was transported by ground to the trauma center at Carolinas Medical Center with "life-threatening injuries." Major Eddie Levins of the Charlotte Police Department said officers are "investigating what is being referred to as a public accident. A 22-year old male fell from what is thought to be the fourth level of the stadium." They had no comment on the extent of his injuries. Bank of America Stadium has switchbank ramps that take fans to the upper level of the stands. The man fell to a grassy area, which was taped off by police. Witnesses were taken to the police office for questioning. Bud Elliott, 47, from Fort Myers Fla., said he came across the accident just after it happened around kickoff and several fans were looking down from the ramps. "I came upon a crowd of people who were running," Elliott said. "They said this guy jumped or fell off. It didn't look good. It's just really sad to have something like that happen."
I wouldn't be surprised if this is alcohol related. You don't need to get hammered to enjoy a game.
