from the way these last few pages have gone, the hands down best point guard in the NBA worthy of all praise is Tony Parker..... even though he hasn't won a ring in 7 years

the Spurs got it good lol
As true as that may be, it has nothing to do with Chris Paul and his shortcomings. For all the praise that he gets, theres not a lot on his resume to warrant it. Other people have gotten the empty stats label for putting up gaudy numbers and not advancing far in the players, but year after year, this guy loses(last two years with a top tier roster on paper, and the last with an elite coach) and nothing is said.

They walked into the season the favourite of the west, and he had it all this year, and agian he was bounced in round 2. They shouldnt have beaten Golden State honestly. They lucked out on that front IMO

Won't get too much of an argument from me... He's been dominant for the past few seasons including post season and his finals performance.

My thing is you can make a case for all of those that I named when healthy to sit in that throne, and all of them receive slander minus Chris. Don't get it confused, I believe Chris has all of the game in the world but I can't outright crown him when I look at his performance against other top tier and his failure to advance.

Are you serious? We watched EACH of those PG's that I've named do that in the playoffs: Watched Pooh go toe to toe with the Celtics squad that went to the finals, watched him dominate Indy, and ATL to get to ECF before Bron put a stop to that. Watched Russy dismantle LA, SAS, and go crazy against MIA in the finals, Tony... Do I really have to rattle off his list? Rajon... Have we forgotten how dominant he was in the playoffs before he got hurt, the triple doubles? He was the engine of that team.

As far as Chris carrying that NOLA squad... You can make the same for each of these players... there teams haven't achieved much without them. Minus the year Nate & Belli carried the bulls past the 1st round they've won 2 playoff games wo Pooh. We saw what happened to OKC last year wo Russy. Same with Boston & SAS when Rondo & Tony went down.

As far as him losing to two of the most dominant players, he had the better team and he "the greatest PG on the planet" was at the helm. Tbh, they shouldn't have beaten GS, the refs jerked them. This is his second full year with this squad that has EVERYTHING: Shooters, Low Post offense & Defense, a legit bench with someone who can get you a legit 20 off the pine... and yet he loses in 6 in the second round AGAIN.

At what point does he stop getting the kid gloves is all I'm asking.

Pooh dominated who exactly? George ****** Hill? Jeff Teague? played the celtics close and got sent home in the first, Met up with Miami & got humbled?

Russ Dismantled them or was KD & Harden also not their destroying competition?

Rondo Didn't benefit from having 3 players who were top 5 at their positions?

None of those guys we are discussing are even the #1 factor that teams are trying to stop. This was his first year in the playoffs HEALTHY with a good team around him and we are ready to say he's overated because he played against a better team in the playoffs?

But when i bring up that Lebron finals in 2011 when he had superior EVERYTHING on the floor and was outplayed by Jason Terry people make the claim that it was only one series & that shouldn't change my perception of him?

I said at the beginning of the season that this is not a championship team. You are not winning a chip with Barnes as your starting 3, Blake taking stupid jumpers, a center who can't hit free throws and Glen Davis breathing heavy once he starts jogging.

Chris Paul is still a great PG and everyone has the right to bash him for his hiccups and other mistakes, but this was NOT a championship team since day ONE :lol

only paul led team I've seen lose a series they weren't supposed to is arguably last year against the grizzlies.  okc is just better thanks to russell and durant and that length on defense.  lebron, melo, kobe, dirk all have been eliminated by teams they had no business losing to at least once.  i'll let paul rock for now.  best pg in the league really comes down to whether u consider russell a 1 or a 2

So we still giving CP3 a pass? 8o

I am really curious to know why people are downplaying the Hornets teams that CP was on, and using the excuse that "Chris Paul literally carried those Hornet Teams" as a way to downplay his lack of success with them.  Um....he is supposedly a superstar in a lot of people's eyes right?  So why is it used to downplay his team that he was the best player on it and had to carry them?

And people also act as if those Hornet teams were garbage.  Let me refresh your memory.  THEY WERENT.

Chris Paul played for the Hornets for 6 seasons.  In those seasons, they were a 46 win team, a 49 win team and a 56 win team.  So no matter how you want to cut it, they were NOT a bad team. The other 3 seasons where they were not a playoff team were his rookie year, a season where he missed 20 games, and a season where he only played 45 games.

Was Chris Paul the heart and soul of those Hornet teams?  Sure.  But if you are one of the best players in the game, you SHOULD carry your teams.  CP did.  But carried them right to a early knockout in the playoffs.

With these Clipper teams, he has ZERO excuse.

How can you say Westbrook is the best point guard when he isn't even a true PG?
This "True PG" thing needs to stop. Not only is that something that you cant really label, the NBA is becoming positionless more and more as the years go by.

What is a True PG? Is Tony Parker one? Who is one?

What is a true pg? Point guards score too, it sets up your passing, even the so called true ones (except for Rubio). Get over it. Tony Parker isn't exactly the most pass first dude in the world either and nobody says anything when he has 20+ and 5 assists. He's the 2nd best scorer on the team, everyone else is a reluctant scorer, opportunistic at best. It's not like trading Russ for Rubio is going to make Thabo average 20ppg all of a sudden

What does that even mean? 'True PG'? Doesn't he have like 3 or 4 triple-doubles already this offseason? Is it because he doesn't double-double with 15 points and 10 assists every game?

Is Dirk a 'true PF'?
