Iverson's season wasn't even close to what KD and LeBron are doing right now, and when someone was leaps and bounds better like Shaq was then no he wasn't worthy.
My point wasn't to compare A.I.'s season to KD and Lebron. All I was saying was that there are definitely times when a player wins the MVP and there are other players who are worthy of the MVP.

Any way you wanna cut it, 31 a game on the best team in the east is MVP worthy.
We're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, personally I think there were other players better than AI that year too, not just Shaq, but this thread is controversial enough right now.

imo any top scorer in the nba will be able to score over 30 ppg on 28 shots per game

My G! Come on man :lol fair enough but I can't comprehend how 31 ppg on a 56 win team isn't worthy of the MVP. All good though

Nah. Scoring 30 ppg is an incredibly hard task for anyone to do. There's "top scorers," then there are elite scorers. Only elite scorers can put up 30 a night. You can give a top scorer the ultimate green light and they won't be able to do it.

if melo is on a trash team and he cant get past the first round

and cp3 is on a trash team and cant get past the first round

why does melo get more "hate"?

He gets more hate from basketball nerds, regular folk love melo, one of the most popular players in the league.

Nerds hate him because he is a selfish, and the way he plays the game isn't actually conducive to winning,

yeah thats what i meant like kobe, kd, lebron, iverson, tmac, melo, wade

iverson and his team had a great season but its not something we had never seen before, shaq did something we had never seen before

Lebron is probably the most effienent elite scorer. Dude can be 60 percent... hit 30 on 15 shots.

Who's style of play is conducive to winning? I hear this often in association with Melo, but there are very few players in the league who's "style" of play has actually translated to winning, or success.

Also I saw someone say Dirk didn't deserve his MVP in '07. He averaged 25 & 9 on 50/42/90 shooting and his team became the 9th team ever to win 67 games, in the West no less. How on Earth did he not deserve it?

Do you realize how many shots 28 is?

So many players would put up 31 if they had the luxury of taking 28+ shots every game. That's not even good.

but if with the same level of talent around him he wins just as much (or as little) as cp3 then how his his game more conductive to winning than cp3?

the best score first guys in the nba have been as successful if not more than the best pass first guys in the nba

Do you not know how hard it is to get up 28 shots a game? You can tell a player to shoot as much as he wants and he wont shoot 28 times a game, let alone average 30 doing so.

Yea your right its difficult to score 30 but a scorer of the elite level will easily hit 30 points on 25 shots A.I needed that many shots cause of his stature

That's true. But there aren't that many elite scorers who are good enough to hit 30 on 25 shots. The fact that he was able to do that on 3 different occasions, given his stature in my opinion speaks volumes about how world class of a scorer he was.

any time ANY player is averaging more than 25 shots per game throughout an entire season it means that he's on a trash team with no other options

You cant be serious? A.I FG % was horrible and him taking 25+ shots a game didnt help

Most scorers in this league can score 30 on 27 shots

Bruh no one is disputing that. A.I.'s FG% was indeed horrid.

What I'm saying is that Most scorers in this league can't get up 27 shots and score 30 a night doing so man. Getting up 27 shots on an NBA level is hard business. Scoring 30 on said 27 shots beyond a hard thing to do. You have to be a world class elite level scorer to put up 30 on 27 shots. I am not saying shooting 25 shots is a good thing, most times it isn't. However I am saying if a player can get the ball up 27 times, and score 30 a night in doing so, speaks volumes (no pun) of how gifted they are as scorers and athletes.
