wow, if the michigan fans/boosters force RichRod out before he can even get players in, they are Idiots and deserve to continue to lose.

they dont have any talent or speed.

Jeff Luc, V.B

Pat Forde was on 1st take saying Spikes put a visor on himself cause a Georgia player tired to do the samething to him early on in the game. LOL

and i hope they do.

I'm willing to bet if RichRod gets fired from Michigan, Illinois scoops him up Quickly lol

Gotta be something going on behind the scene's w/ Mike Williams at SU.

+!+% like that (up and quitting the team) could cost you money in the draft.

Bowers is probably out for Saturday. It'll be a shootout if we can't get pressure on Ponder. We're pretty deep on the DL (moreoverall depth at DT tho) but Bowers has been pretty damn good this year.

He's a doofus.
He just got suspended this past week

and was suspended for the entire yr last season.

Richt gives Joe Cox the "vote of confidence" and says he will remain starter.

On a related note, AJ Green will miss Saturday's game with the bruised ribs that Cox led him to.

Talk about it in The Tribal Council
Prior to the start of the 2009 football season defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews hinted that this might be his last season at Florida State. But through the first eight games Andrews has been quiet on the subject.

During Monday's weekly coordinator press conference, Andrews finally gave a timeline for when his decision will come.

"We'll probably do something on that tomorrow," Andrews said.

Andrews has been the defensive coordinator at Florida State under Bobby Bowden since 1984 and assumed the title of Associate head coach in 2002. In 1996, he was named the first ever Frank Broyles Award winner given to the nation's top assistant coach.

All good things must come to an end...

You think Jerry Rice would dominate the NFL now? If so you are a bigger fool than I thought. Hes not fast enough to be a home run threat or blow people away. He made his living catching everything that came near him and running the best routes of probably any NFL WR the past 20 years. He worked his tail off plain and simple and was great but he would be a possession receiver in todays NFL just like Welker who is a great WR and the closest thing I could see Rice being. Derrick Mason could be another comparison.
this is the kinda stuff u get to read on college football msg boards

C'mon Son.

RichRod is fighting an uphill battle and I'm really beginning to think this will not work out. Really if RR is fired we're setting our program backanother 5-10 years. Mine as well give another year or two to get his players in there. There's not a coach on earth that could win with the ppl we have ondefense. I really can't wait for all of Lloyds players to be gone, except for B. Graham I wish he could stay forever.

So why was a 1 loss USC squad considered to be a top national title contender after Tex and whoever wins the SEC yet a 1 loss Oregon squad is considered a longshot to make the title game?

More a matter of where they were ranked, I'd guess...

USC at 5 really only needed one or two breaks if they took care of business... Oregon will need Texas, Iowa, Cincinnati and maybe even TCU to lose ahead ofthem...

Oregon is gonna have to make up a lot of ground, whereas USC really just needed to take care of business and catch a break or two...

It's stupid, but the early season rankings and how Oregon got beat against Boise put them at a disadvantage...

I mean, I'm a big Welker backer, but God damn this is stupid. Whoever typed that out I feel like putting a citizen's arrest out on dude.

The defensive players he was given were nothing short of a joke. He got Brandon Graham and Donovan Warren who are the only 2 showing up. The other guys aremysteries as to why they are here and more-so the guys that aren't here and why Carr and Co couldn't land them. The same people bashing RR for not"developing" players are the ones that have told us that Carr and Co barely recruiting the last 5 years he was there. Not locking up Ronald Johnson,Dionte Allen and Nick Perry are complete jokes.

I have a horrible feeling that we will not get to see much more of Rich Rodriguez in Michigan. Possibly through next year but if they do get rid of him, theybetter go balls out and get Brian Kelly here.

Yall have a new AD next yr right...? And yall lose the only two good players on defense. Id be surprised if he makes it past next yr just because its michigan. They should keep him though, otherwise they're setting themselves back another 5-10 like someone said.
The history made in the first 21 games of the Rich Rodrigues era:
Nation's longest consecutive bowl streak...GONE.

Nation's longest streak for most consecutive non-losing seasons...GONE.

Michigan loses to Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Ohio State in the same season for the first time.

Michigan loses to Michigan State in consecutive seasons for the first time in over 40 years.

Michigan loses to Illinois in consecutive seasons for the first time in 50 years.

Michigan finishes with losing record in the Big Ten for first time in 40 years.

Michigan finishes with fewest wins in a season since 1962.

Michigan loses four straight Big Ten games for the first time since 1962.

Michigan has four-game conference losing streaks in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history.

Michigan finishes with the worst defense statistically in school history.

[Jeezy] And I love it.. [/Jeezy]

Spikes eye gauging reminds me of Ohio St LBer Reynolds vs wisconsin awhile back. Its a damn embarrassment and to only suspend him a half (vs vandy none theless) is even more ******ed.
Mike Williams leaves Syracuse football team

By Trish LaMonte
[h5]November 02, 2009, 12:26PM[/h5]

Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams ranked seventh nationally with an average of 8.2 catches per game; and third in the country in total receiving yards with 623.Syracuse star wide receiver Mike Williams has left the Syracuse football program, The Post-Standard's Donnie Webb reported on Monday. Head coach Doug Marrone announced the departure during his weekly news conference, and said he is not sure if Williams is still enrolled in school. Marrone said Williams came to his office Monday morning to say he was leaving the team immediately.

The news comes just two weeks after Williams, who missed all of last season after being accused of cheating on a test, was suspended for the game against Akron for violating team rules.

Williams ranked as the top receiver in the Big East this season in receptions per game and receiving yards. So far this season he had 49 catches for 746 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He was recently named one of 10 finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, presented annually by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club to the nation's top wide receiver.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse coach Doug Marrone said goodbye to his star receiver and defended his starting quarterback Monday.

Mike Williams, the Big East's leading receiver, quit the team. He had 49 catches for 746 yards and six touchdowns.

But at his weekly news conference, Marrone focused first on quarterback Greg Paulus. The former Duke point guard returned home to play football this season, but was booed Saturday during a 28-7 loss to Cincinnati at the Carrier Dome.

"I've never seen an athlete at any level, including the NFL, work as hard mentally and physically as Greg has worked since he's joined us here," Marrone said. "Really, what he's accomplished is extraordinary. Maybe he can't be fully appreciated because most don't know just how difficult it is to play quarterback at a Division I program."

Marrone said he felt Paulus was a victim of his own success. Paulus, who's only here for this one remaining year of athletic eligibility, nearly led Syracuse to an upset of Minnesota in the season-opener at home. He threw for 167 yards and one touchdown, but his lone turnover of the game, an interception in overtime, allowed the Gophers to escape with a victory.

Two weeks later, Paulus scored on a 10-yard run and threw for 346 yards (the sixth-highest total in school history) and two TDs in leading Syracuse to a comeback win over Northwestern. But in Syracuse's first two Big East games, he threw six interceptions and had another in the second quarter against the Bearcats, in the end zone with the Orange trailing 14-7.

That prompted a cascade of boos from the fans, who cheered every time backup Ryan Nassib was inserted.

Marrone said he wasn't aware of the negative reaction until he was told about it long after the game had ended. He said he had not yet discussed it with Paulus, though he tried to reach him by phone.

"We've seen him make great plays and great decisions, and we have come to expect that from him every time," Marrone said. "But football is a team game. People don't know when an offensive lineman misses a block or a receiver runs the wrong route. They only see the decisions that Greg makes.

"I understand that [booing] is a part of sports, but Greg is one of us. He grew up here. He came back to do something that's never been done before and has poured every ounce of his body and soul into that task."

Williams was Syracuse's most talented player. He has all the physical traits coaches covet in a receiver -- size (6-foot-2 and 210 pounds), speed, amazing leaping ability, sure hands.

Two years ago, Williams established a Syracuse record with touchdown receptions in nine straight games, then was suspended in June 2008 for violating the university's academic integrity policy and missed all of last season.

Williams re-enrolled in January, returned to the team for spring practice, and picked up where he left off. He caught a scoring pass against Minnesota to extend his streak to 10 games before being kept off the board at Penn State.

His 20 career TD catches ties Marvin Harrison for second at Syracuse, two off Rob Moore's school record. Williams also was named recently as one of 10 finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation's top wide receiver.

Marrone said he had not yet made a formal announcement to the team about Williams but suspected many players had already heard the news.

"He walked up to me and voluntarily took himself off the team. That's it," Marrone said, declining to elaborate. "I'm not going to discuss the conversation from my end."

In an interview last month, Williams, a senior, said he fully expected to return for his final year of eligibility in 2010.

"I'm really looking forward to coming back," Williams said. "I'm not even going through that process right now of thinking about leaving [for the NFL]. It'll be good for me because I sat out a year. All the problems I went through and stuff when I sat out, I feel like I really have to come back."

Good luck in whatever he decides to do with his life. Damn, he had so much potential. The comments on the boards and forums are terrible. Sure he was havingacademic problems last year but don't throw him under the bus as an ungrateful and selfish person because of something that may be bigger than football. The city of Syracuse doesn't deserve a winning program if they continue to act like this.

This moron is still defending Paulus. We all know why he was brought in Doug. The experiment failed. Bench him and put in Nassib so that he can get someexperience for next season. The season is already lost.
