🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Drake & PND Album Fall 2024

Drake can be a good rapper at times, that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the scrutiny from us rap critics
It's all about pushing the craft to better standards, letting even worse jackers like Desiigner spit the same flow and bars is a damn shame
desiigner burns my soul. not only is he a blatant knockoff, but he doesnt even admit it, AND we reward him for it. he got a #1 hit single before future did lmao. how is that POSSIBLE. thats like me putting out "the mixtape about something" sounding exactly like wale and go platinum before wale does.

It aint even that it's just, why are ya'll so obsessed over someone being a "real" rapper, would you say Kanye is a real rapper? Ya'll make it way more serious than it needs to be...Drake came out the gate doing songs with Bieber :lol I dont think he cares about looking "hard"

The successful ones know something we dont and it's most likely that skill =\= album sales

Drake USED to rap rap, now he throws floaters all day cause he knows its a sure thing.

I didnt mean for it to come off as "he getting money who cares" but even if Drake dropped Blueprint tomorrow all original lyrics, ya'll still would be here finding a way to discredit it.

Will said 'SFTB' is Drakes best song ever, and dudes in here saying "bu bu but Drake aint come from the bottom he shouldnt be singing that"

Like I said originally, most of the hate is against Drake the person and not the music

i agree with most of the drake hate is against the person not the music. and that he USED to rap but is cruising right now. but speaking for myself, i dont rock with people who dont hit their potential. dude shows u even on views that he CAN do it. but instead gives u 15 songs of foolishness. and no matter how much he says hes spitting fire before an album drops... its never the case. i dont care for anyone taking personal shots at dude. at any entertainer really. unless u know them personally, dont diss them as a person. critique their work or nothing at all.
The thing is that at some point, when you see someone copying the work of others, you gotta call them out for doing so
No ifs or buts, you are plagiarizing other people's work
It ain't right

Its bordering on the edge of psychosis.. We really gotta let ppl just double talk themselves trying to discredit the man.

I will never understand need to rewrite the rules when it comes to Drake. One day he used to be a legit MC now he makes music for suburban kids. Is Views his most fully fledged attempt at a majority pop record.. sure it is but he's literally had the same formula since 09. It must be the fact he's meddled in dancehall that has some ppl forgetting.
Take Care sold 2 million fam

In two months tho? I copped Take care. It's a great album. Plus Take care had real singles (headlines,Hyfr, take care, the motto) not this forced one dance song.

All his Views numbers are made up , not to discredit him. Yes he can 2 mil but not with this album or that single. If hotline bling was the lead single and this album dropped around thar time that song was poppin I'd believe the numbers. Because that was actually a smash hit.

He was basically Kanye's Rent a Future lmfao
Yeah rap culture is weird now

Leave drake alone. He doesn't care what u think, y'all care about real rappers too much. U wanna be a real rapper and rich or a not so real rapper and richer? He doesn't care what u think, he didn't record hotline bling thinking about u purist. He's rich and more successful than ever... in so many words yes he's a pop star, probably the biggest on the planet and it's cool.

Wait one dance is "doing better" than hotline bling? If so yeah something is fishy. I couldn't get away from that damn song, it was so catchy and played everywhere. Tv, radio, phones, random people singing it. Old people, young people, white people, black people I know dram was sick. ***** had sweaters from the video selling, **** was a Halloween costume :lol.

Stick to lyrical miracle rap :-)

The irony here is Joe Budden was a part of the group Slaughterhouse, a lyrical based group of somewhat well known rapping rappers, behind arguably the most popular rapper of all time (Em), and couldn't make anything pop for them

Which side would ya'll wanna be on if you were in the rap world

How?...i just keep saying that Drake clearly isnt trying to convince anyone he's a rapper, ya'll are labeling him one just to list all the reasons why he's not one

:lol Slaughterhouse isn't geared for commercial rap
And Eminem wasn't a biter and had a successful career
Cmon man your mans has disrespected rap culture a couple times, he ain't gonna be free from the slander

I'm pretty sure Future and Gucci Mane aren't "lyrical miracle" rappers

Funny you say that, cause the SH album Em had the most involvement in was the worst one.

You can't defend the hotline bling thing.

It's not he fact that he made the song it's that he pushed it as a single and stuff.

Cuz originally it was named "Cha Cha remix". how can you be trying to be slick and steal someone's stuff if you literally name the **** "remix" ?

The problem is that once he saw how big it got, he was like ****, game time decision and released it as a single and stepped on homie's toes. Like right hand and charged up came out on soundcloud at the same time both got released as singles first. The criticism for that is justified. HOWEVER I think it's one of those things ppl say "oh I wouldn't do that, he's a theif, yadada" but if they had the opportunity to pretty much have the biggest single of their career and really tap into a new audience they'd prolly take it. It's definitely messed up for the dude so like I said I feel the criticism but it is what it is.

The reppin 4 Tay thing is wierd. Reminds me of when lil Wayne spit the Aliyah verse on that pleasure p thing. It's like obviously somebody will know that, that is the other persons lyrics :lol like he did he same thing with too short on for free and too short praised him for it...but I'm sure nobody saw that article :lol

Other than that, ALOT of the wave riding stuff is a joke. Or atleast it's said as if it was a bad thing...like y'all can sit up here and pretend drake benefitted more than future for the collab stuff but it's not even an argument. My little sister is ELEVEN and just mentioned future to me the other day. She even knows the words to jumpman :lol can't remember what other future song she was singing but I think it was wicked :{

They use the makkonen example as if he was a artist with great music that just got used up and discarded :rollin. Homie BEEEEEN sucked.

Fetty wap had drake on a song? What happened to him? Future, a bunch of artists had him on songs early on, they still around. What's the problem?

I remember a while back someone said NWTS was a future biting album :lol :{ like what?? Lmao I listed every song and pretty much asked where and nobody could say anything.

Anyways, HE opened the door for it so I mean it is what it is as far as the criticism so some of it is warranted but ALOT of it is pretty far fetched.

Gonna need to to get the receipts for the Future/NWTS comparisons, cause nothing on NWTS is Future.

"Throw em a bone they want a steak"
Puts him off his tour
Fast forward 3 years, hey man it was all a misunderstanding. U know what, we should do a album together. Hey man I gotta be apart of dirty sprite 2 I have too. Went from trynna little homie future to being his best friend when he got popping.

Future didn't start to get poppin until after ds2 beast mode was a flop so I doubt rake begging to be on ds2

Drake a rapper man. And views is a rap album. Y'all gotta cut it out. If y'all wanna criticize him for being corny, having a ghostwriter, or whatever...that's fine. But to deny his impact and to act like he's the same as a Justin Bieber or Katy Perry is flat out false.

Drake is in the Nelly/Ja Rule lane. And all of y'all consider them ***** rappers.

Dude is also widely popular with every demographic. Do some of you dudes even go to urban clubs? Kickbacks? Colleges? I party damn near every weekend...and you guaranteed to hear some Drake songs. How many hood ***** was quoting "Started from the bottom" on their IG pics? Or talking bout "No new friends"? I know some 35-40 year old dudes from the trenches that will bump a Drake song from time to time. They aren't super fans...but if they hear a song they like...they'll bump it. Dude has all bases covered. And he just locked down the international demo.

To act like his only demographic is women and white people is a lie. And I don't even rock with him like that...but I'm not going to deny his impact.

He's at the highest success level you can get as a rapper...or artist period.

I already said dude was Nelly on steroids. :lol

And Nelly wasn't looked at as Jay, Nas or Em in the early 00's. He was in that party music/radio friendly lane. Nobody looked at Nelly as a lyrical dude. That's where Drake is at this point. He's the guy that mixes r&b, hip-hop, pop, dancehall, with his team of writers. You damn near a Pop artist if you doing that. He said it himself on that Game record that went pop.

And? If future ain't mad about it how u gon be mad :lol

future saw the business move and clearly wasn't scorned enough to turn it down. How can he be held with anymore integrity than drake in that situation?

Do we know why Drake took him off the tour? ( genuinely asking cuz I don't know)

If you can't see that dude rides waves then it's no point in even talking about that. :lol

Yeah ain't no Future on there. He ain't start riding Future till that Madona song.

U out of the loop fam, far out of it.

Yeah he did, but the lawsuit was gonna cost him some big change. Thing is, of course future sees the business in it. Hell from day one when aubrey wanted to be apart of Tony Montana he never fronted on drake. Did the remix, tried to do a video but drake couldn't even shoot the video. Didn't even have to fly anywhere, then throw shots in a interview then the tweet. All of a sudden future goes back to his old formula and goes on the 3 peat run and all of a sudden drake is buddy buddy. Same dude he was "throwing a bone" to he wants to make duets, ask to be on his album etc. He obviously sees something in it for him also, I mean he ain't even put out a album with his own artist or even his boss that happens to rap. If all that **** ain't happen before I wouldn't even have a problem with it (besides them not having great chemistry and making below average music by both of their standards) Cuz it could've been a genuine friendship from the jump. But dude was brushing him off like he was a Lil ***** then when dude flexed up he wanna be his biggest fan. **** super corny.
