Wrestling Thread Feb 16-22 | 2/17 ECW on Sci-Fi (pg 17) - Christian/Finlay vs Swagger/Henry

^^ Speaking of him, I remember reading on the dirts a while back, and I quote "No one has been able to locate Perry Saturn. He is missing and presumeddead."

Since then, Satullo has seemingly disappeared from public view and has not been seen in several years. Family, friends, and his three ex-wives have no information or clue to his whereabouts. Furthermore, due to the fact that he missed the funerals of two of his good friends (Chris Candido and John Kronus) and the funeral of his mentor and father figure Killer Kowalski, some fear that he might be dead.[sup][10][/sup] Recently, it was reported that he was last spotted in Iowa almost two years ago.[sup][11][/sup]

It has been reported that Satullo now lives in Atlanta, GA and has recently cut his 3 year addiction to Meth. He has vowed to never wrestle again.

Theme of this week...short and sweet.

- Randy Orton officially has "NO CHANCE...duh duh duh duh duuuuuh duh duh" of winning at Wrestlemania.* And everybody nose...knows why.

*unless it sets up my whole "Stephanie Turning/Heel Winning at WM" scenario.
- I don't know where this Santino-"Zoolander" thing is going, but does anyone else find it sad that Rico got put over more as a wrestler than Santino does.

- If any other match besides Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker happens at WM25, someone needs to hit Vince over the head with a tack hammer because he is a ******.

- F what ya heard, Candice Michelle could still get my O face, word to Drew.

- Christian = Mr. Money in the Bank 2009. Bet the house on it.

- I imagine Spearing, RKOing, Super Kicking, Stunnering, or Clothesline from Helling (huh?) at least one person, everyday. Do I have a problem?

- I honestly believe Chris Jericho could feud with a broom handle and have it be one of the better programs of the year.

- After No Way Out, I have to believe Shane is done as a wrestler. He looked so old. Lets look back at perhaps one of his best (and one of my favorite) matches:

Hearing the statistics for HHH and how he actually hasn't won at WM for a while, I have to give the match to HHH, but RKO will be winning a championshipsometime soon after that. If you noticed they haven't mentioned the Age of Orton in a while, so I don't see him winning at WM, but it will be adifferent type of match which will be great like their Last Man Standing match last year or the year before.

HBK and Undertaker has to happen, and Undertaker has to win. If Undertaker does not retire undefeated , it would just be a slap in the face to Taker to me. Iknow that Undertaker does believe in the betterment of the company unlike HHH, but he cannot lose at WM

Christian will win Money in the Bank, it has to happen because they have bigger things planned for him. They put him on ECW because they had to go in adifferent direction on Smackdown because of the spoilers. I would like to see the MITB last longer than it has the last two years though. Edge waited until NewYear's Revolution to cash in the 1st MITB, but the others have all used it really quickly, and it's been getting quicker and quicker

Jericho will have a great lead up to Wrestlemania, but unless it's Austin, it feels like the match will be a letdown. Jericho's mic skills will carryit until then, but I feel it will be a dissapointment.

Shane really showed his age at No Way Out and I think he will be out of commission for a while and we won't see him for a while just like we hadn'tseen him for like 2 years before this started and the thing with Stephanie

Was this in an interview with Terri? I think i remeber reading this..

^Alright, I didn't get a chance to watch wrestling during those years, it just slipped my mind you know, and when I was younger my dad didn't like it

^I Know the feeling. I didn't have cable until late 98'. In honor of SC here's some old clips.

Vince McMahon was quite vigilant in making sure that reports of Edge working both Elimination Chamber Matches at Sunday's No Way Out pay-per-view did nothit the Internet
before the show.

McMahon was unhappy to say the least (which is putting things mildly) when word got out on Christian being pegged as the guy who attacked Jeff Hardy near astairwell on the morning of the Survivor Series pay-per-view. This led to a change in plans as Matt Hardy ended up with Christian's spot on SmackDown andChristian getting Matt's top babyface spot on ECW.

To make sure that nobody on WWE's crew knew what was going to happen, McMahon actually ordered the ring
crew to put a monstrous tarp over the entire Elimination Chamber in order to prevent people from seeing who was in the ring as the wrestlers worked out how thematch was going to be scripted.

Don't know yet, but here's his debut match in FCW against Tyson Kidd:

- While plans such as this change all the time, I was told Triple H's move to Raw was only for the McMahon family angle at WrestleMania and it was not a permanent roster move. Triple H is still a SmackDown worker and will make appearances on both shows. It is also worth noting that only the WWE Intercontinental Championship and WWE Women's Championship are listed as Raw titles on the Raw superstars page.

Without spoiling anything on SD..

How come this dude R-Truth can't catch a break? Dude is one of the most over ppl in the company and passable as a wrestler but he's getting the CrymeTyme treatment.

Deluxe Edition of News & Notes

Vince extremely negative on Christian backstage.
smh.gif

SmackDown writer Michael Hayes originally came up with the idea of Christian Cage doing all the sneak attacks on Jeff Hardy to be revealed at the Royal Rumble. As time went on and people figured that Christian was behind it, and/or Hayes realized how Vince felt about Christian, he approached Vince with the idea of giving the role to Matt Hardy. Hayes sold the idea on the fact that Matt vs. Jeff would be a bigger surprise and bigger draw than Jeff vs. Christian, and Vince agreed with him.

John Laurinaitis had been pushing to do something with Christian sooner, rather than have him sit and wait until April. While all the talk about his return was going on, Vince started to sour on Christian. Back in 2005, whenever ideas were brought up for Christian, Vince always nixed them and only saw Cage as an upper midcarder. Vince even said in meetings that Christian had no star aura about him and that his head shot promotional photo was one of the worse he had ever seen.

RAW writer Brian Gewirtz asked about bringing him to RAW after Matt got the spot on SmackDown, but there was concern he would end up like D-Lo Brown - just hired and forgot about without getting a chance. They came up with the idea to give him a new feud with someone Vince is high on, that being Jack Swagger. They felt the longer they didn't get him on TV, the more likely he'd end up never to get going and this was the best thing they had for him. The original idea for the ECW show had the same opener with the two but several segments were planned that showed Christian meeting the talent on the brand and putting him over like it was a big thing he was there.

The actual match was booked to be a short sprint for him to shine some more, ending with Swagger getting counted out or some crazy no contest. Vince ended up changing the show to what it ended up being. It was seen internally as Vince having no vision of Christian as a star.

I guess we can kiss any chances of Christian winning the MITB match goodbye (not that it's beenconfirmed he'll be in it)...imagine how dope it would have been for him to cash it in on Edge some time in the future?
eek.gif
So because Christian isn't a roid head or a "monster" like MikeKnox, Vince doesn't see him as a star. Got it, Vince.

Latest on Stone Cold Steve Austin and Wrestlemania plans.

There has been some speculation regarding "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wrestling at WrestleMania 25, but it seems highly unlikely at this point. However, he will definitely have a role at the event WrestleMania 25 - and not just when they introduce the Hall of Famers.

The buzz backstage is that Austin will be the special guest referee for the WWE Championship Match between Triple H and Randy Orton.

One more match...

Update on Hulk Hogan and possible Wrestlemania match (POSSIBLE SPOILERS).

-- To update on report from last night regarding a Hulk Hogan appearance at Wrestlemania 25, Bubba the Love Sponge was asked about a possible appearance by the Hulkster at Wrestlemania. A caller asked if Hogan would be at WrestleMania 25 since all the WrestleMania moment clips have seem to feature him. Bubba said he knew why WWE was doing that, but he couldn't comment. Bubba is one of Hogan's best friends.

There has definitely been some back-and-forth between Hogan and the company about the wrestling legend doing the match. If Hogan doesn't go through with the match, Cena will simply face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. But if Hogan ends up going through with the match, Edge will square off against Big Show as they already have a program in place.

I still don't see how Edge vs. Big Show or Cena vs. Hogan happens, but we'll see...if I had toguess, Hogan appears on the show but doesn't wrestle.

This week's RAW draws highest rating in OVER A YEAR.
eek.gif

According to data compiled by Nielson Media Research, this week's edition of WWE Monday Night Raw drew a 4.1 cable rating. This is the highest number the show has drawn in well over a year. The first hour drew a 3.9 while the second did a 4.4. Upper WWE management is said to be very pleased with the number.

How the opponent for Undertaker at Wrestlemania storyline is supposed to play out.

Spoiler [+]
WWE continues to build Vladimir Kozlov up on SmackDown as he went over The Undertaker clean in a match that will air on next week's edition of SmackDown. We're told the current plan is to make Kozlov's undefeated streak in singles competition meaningful only to have it ended on SmackDown by Shawn Michaels before he goes on to WrestleMania to face The Undertaker.

Rumored participants for the Money In The Bank ladder match.

- Names currently being thrown around for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 25 are CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Rey Mysterio, The Miz, John Morrison, and Christian. Obviously none of these names have been confirmed and plans for the match will be changing from now until the pay-per-view.

Chris Benoit ban lifted in the WWE?

- "Chris Benoit celebrates his World Championship win with Eddie Guerrero as confetti fills Madison Square Garden - WrestleMania XX" is featured as one of the Top 50 Moments in WrestleMania History on the official WWE website. You can check it out at this link. It certainly appears as if WWE has significantly backed off of their Chris Benoit ban from history.

Miz and Morrison to be broken up?

- There is talk about possibly breaking up The Miz and John Morrison. We're told some people in the company feel their tag team has has been played out and they might benefit more from singles pushes. Both Miz and Morrison remain very over with the WWE office.

Hmm...not sure if they through with it, but I wanna see if this ties into the WWE's plans ofunifying the Tag Team titles...

Update on Tag Titles possibly being unified.

Spoiler [+]
- While it did not happen at last night's taping, the feud with Carlito & Primo vs. John Morrison & The Miz is expected to end with the WWE World Tag Team Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship being unified. During the taping for next week's edition of SmackDown, the WWE Tag Team Championship (which is held by Carlito & Primo) was on the line in a match between the two teams and it was retained. As we reported several weeks ago, the plan at one point was for the tag belts to be unified and based out of ECW.

Backstage reaction to TNA dropping Petey Williams.

Technically, the wrestlers who recently left TNA were not released. TNA doesn't believe in releasing wrestlers when they still have dates remaining on their contracts. Rather, their deals were just not renewed.

The Petey Williams decision took just about everyone by surprise because he'd been with the company so long. He was also considered a good hand who didn't rock the boat and accepted whatever they gave him creatively. However, creative apparently determined that they didn't have anything for him and the decision was made to move on.

"Why they wouldn't bend over backwards to sign a guy who doesn't do drugs or drink, looks like he does while being able to pass a drug test, and works hard and never !%$!#+! I'll never know, but I guess it's just the way things were meant to be," remarked inside source.

The company never made a formal offer to Williams, so this was not a case of him demanding too much money or even the company low-balling him. His deal wasn't set to expire until March, but he finished with the company at the last set of television tapings. He reportedly shaved his head and goatee a short time after he worked his last match to abandon the Scott Steiner look.

More than one person has stated that Williams was vulnerable because he wasn't tight with Jeff Jarrett. Although they weren't enemies, Williams wasn't the type to hang out at Jarrett's table at the hotel bar and suck up to him like some of the hanger-ons.

Backstage news on Freddy Prinze Jr.

- Freddy Prinze Jr. has been to very few WWE TV tapings over the past six weeks but he is still with the company. The feeling is that the novelty of being a wrestling writer has started to wear thing with him. WWE never brings up him being on the staff and his name is hardly mentioned within the company.

No backstage cliques in TNA.

-- When it comes to backstage cliques, the TNA locker room is said to be pretty much free of them. Nash, Jarrett, Steiner and Russo are supporters of each other, but not to the point where people group them all together.

Update on Gail Kim.

- The latest word on Gail Kim is that she is supposed to debut sometime after WrestleMania 25.

Candice Michelle frustrated with lack of TV time.

WWE Raw diva Candice Michelle doesn't care where she ends up during the upcoming 2009 Draft rearranging talent on Raw, Smackdown, and ECW. She just wants to wrestle.

Candice claims she's working on a few new moves for when she's back in the ring wrestling full-time and she's becoming frustrated by her lack of TV time.

"I promise you I have stuff in the works and I will be back on top," Candice said on a WWE live blog during Sunday's No Way Out PPV. "Matter of fact, I hate not working!"

Candice wouldn't mind moving to Smackdown where she there is "enormous talent" and she could go after Maryse's Divas Title.

"I wanna fricken wrestle and I'm doing everything to get back to where I was!" Candice said, referring to a major shoulder injury and subsequent re-injury of the same area that kept her off TV throughout 2008.

Expect to see a lot of cross-promotion on the road to Wrestlemania.

- Expect to see a lot of cross-promotion between the three brands from now until WrestleMania. With WrestleMania being WWE's biggest event of the year, they routinely use as much TV time as possible to build feuds and establish long running storylines.

Updated poster for Wrestlemania 25; Stone Cold removed.

1. Edge vs Big Show can very easily happen because they have been building a Big Show/Edge feud for weeks now. With the possibility that Vickie cheated on Edgewith Big Show while Edge was "in hell."

2. I hope Edge makes a remark about the ratings because the Raw after he cashed in his Money in the Bank to win the title from Cena was one of the highestratest Raws in recent years. He once again can use his I = ratings rant.

.

^Big Show should not face Edge though, Big Show is just plain terrible. If this happens though Edge better win, because I just can't stand Big Show.

If they break up Miz and Morrison, I don't see Miz staying with the WWE for very long. To me Morrison can stand on his own, but the Miz will be gonequickly because he just has nothing for him other than the tag team.

I'd like to see the Hardys in MITB, but it looks like that won't happen. Out of those names listed the only two I see winning to get pushed would beChristian or Morrison, after hearing they might break them up. But after hearing about McMahon not liking Christian, it looks like he'll be on ECW for awhile

I also like hearing that it will be Undertaker/HBK at Wrestlemania with nobody really getting in the way

I'm glad Stone Cold was removed from the poster. He's annoying at this point. I'd rather see Jericho in a match against someone who can stillwrestle.

I disagree about the Miz. Dude oozes charisma, can talk on the mic 100x better than Morrison and can partially wrestle.

But on the real, I cant wait till Morrison gets pushed to the top. Dude is the FUTURE

They should keep Miz & Morrison together but push Morrison more to the top. I would put them in a stable with The Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel. That would bebadass.

Who I want to see in the MITB

MVP
Shelton Benjamin
R-Truth
Christian
Evan Bourne
The Brian Kendrick
Kufi or Rey Mysterio
CM Punk
