The hardest part of it is that he is still easily top 3 in the league (I say #1 but let's save that for another day) so it's hard to imagine what prime is if you are still one of the greatest players in the world..
But I agree he is not nearly as athletic as he used to be.. But I would say he is still just as good..What he lost in jumping ability and speed, he gained in better shot selection, understanding of the game, and court vision...
What he would do if you added those 2 together![]()
and he averaged more assists in his prime so no, all his skills have degraded.
really your response to better shot selection, is one game, in which his team still win a championship. 23 points a quarter of his team's points.. And even with a bad % shooting performance he knew enough to step up another part of his game to ensure his team won... Epitome of hater is a comment like that..
also better court vision =/= more assissts.. It is the understanding of how and where to get teammates involved. Understanding what player needs and wants... Court Vision is knowing what is going on around you not just on offense but defense too..
And even if it were so his assists are in line with what his career normally is...
The man has of course lost to an extent the things that father time always takes (running speed, jumping, ability to stay healthy, dunking) but at the same time has improved the other parts of his game to such an extent that it seems like his game gets better the older he gets...
