I have yet to use the V10. How are you guys liking the second screen? Waiting for the second screen to wake just to wake your phone seems cumbersome. Also, I think the second screen would have been better if it was where the cameras currently are. I mean, we're used to reading notifications on the upper left hand corner. That has to feel weird at first. I'm sure there's a reason why it's to the right, though. I wish the second screen was AMOLED. It'd be nice if the always-on screen just used the pixels that were needed instead of the backlight doing the heavy lifting.

How does the phone do when pulling it out of your pocket? I like the added grip, but I can envision the texture making it a pain to pull out of your pocket.

I'm interested in the thoughts here. Would you guys have bought the phone if they weren't giving so much away with it?

Like it a lot, its surprisingly handy, esp. the music controls. But the best part is the separate area for notifications. I never realized how annoying heads up notifications are until using this phone and going back to the N6 while it was encrypting. Notifications appearing in the top right wasn't weird at all, and theres absolutely no kind of "wait" time between the two displays. I have my secondary screen set to "Always On," and I haven't noticed any type of delay from it. The only thing I really didn't like was using the second screen to answer calls... Just a little too small of an area to be swiping at for important calls, just imo.

The V10 goes in and out of the pocket with ease. The grip on the back doesn't ever feel like its getting in the way. I just wish they did away with the grid lines on the black color and fully committed with the grip or not done it at all. The Nexus being slightly wider actually caused me more problems. The V10 and N6 are relatively similar in size, but the V10 carries that size better than the N6 does if that makes sense.

To be completely honest, I'm not sure. I saw the V10 before I knew about the promotion and was kind of curious about it, especially since everyone with G series devices seemed to be happy with them. I was going back and forth between the Note 5, 6P, and the V10. Though I was already leaning towards the V10, inclusion of the 200GB SD card and the extra battery is what put it over the edge for me. G4 touch sensitivity was horrid on my Verizon device. So much so that I went back to my note 4. I didn't experience that issue with other carrier g4's.

In regard to the v10 second screen, it's very convenient, especially when you want to toggle between apps and don't want to launch the cascade view. I'm assuming it's on the right side because most people are right handed. I have mine set to turn the second screen off when the main screen is off. I imagine it could be useful to stay on in certain situations. It's much dimmer, naturally, when the main screen is off.

I have no issues getting the device out of my pocket, never even think about it honestly. One slight gripe I have is that it's a bit more difficult to capture a screen shot. It was much easier on the g4 because the power button was so pronounced. This one is flush and half the time I accidentally turn the volume all the way down.

Enhanced audio recording is very cool also.

LG V10

the second screen is great, all my notifications shows up there. scores, weather, app update ect. no more annoying heads up noftications while watching youtube or something.

The metal on the sides feels great in hand. gives it a premium feel while the rubbery back gives it a gribby feel which i like.

getting the v10 out of the pocket is easy no problem at all. matter fact my finger goes right on the finger print scanner, press and it unlocks as i take it out of my pocket.

im a power user so sd card slot and removable battery is a MUST for me. even though most OEM are Following apple in those departments. :{

LG promo or not i was buying the V10 or G4 even a note 4 for those reasons.

BTW the Manuel mode in camera and video is soo dope. started to mess with the mode at a dimmly lit hallowen party and the photos came out great.

LG V10 finger print scanner gate?

i was gonna order cases on amazon and saw a few bad reviews. people saying the scanner fails with the case on. ruh oh

team buck nekid for now. tempered glass and no case.

If I had a phone with a plastic or rubber back I'd rock it naked, especially if the back is replaceable. I kind of miss not using a case, but these aluminum phones start to get very slippery very fast for me

Its conductivity, and not entirely the fault of the case maker - i think LG's engineering team shares a bit of the blame. Maybe they did it on purpose, but a case will not work unless it has conductive properties. If you use that same case with a bit of tin foil attached to the sides, it'd work much better. People on XDA are covering their lanyards in foil to get around the issue :lol

JK: you can fix this problem by reprogramming the scanner after putting the case on.

The main reasong why I'm leaning towards the v10. Currently still using the Note 4, and denied upgrading to the note 5 for the exact reasoning. I gotta wait and see what more reviews you guys start to put out when you guys receive your 6p's. The 6p looks really solid.

My Frost 6P's supposed to leave the warehouse today, but I'm still stuck on "Pending" [emoji]128557[/emoji]

The only problem I see with the V10 is that we have no clue what that thang will be like 6 months from now :{

My thoughts exactly. The phone is great and it shows more to what LG is capable of, however, with the skin, bloatware, and carrier meddling, don't know how long it will take to receive updates and what not. but they time a new update it mentioned, a new device will be out.

^ yea the software is what kind of kills the V10 for me. And with how the Nexus devices are now, why even go any other route?

Waiting on some used 5X's on the CL market or something 8o

Question to those with Tmo, I'm new since earlier this year, gonna JUMP to my next phone.  What's the process?  Just return my phone, (i dropped it a couple times, with minor blemishes) and start paying for the new one?

U have to pay off at least half of the phones value before u can jump. After that, u just take it in, trade it, and get a new phone. The balance is reset to the amount of the new phone. As long as the screen isn't cracked and it's just minor wear and tear, u should be good.

Yea all this. The only requirement is you have paid off half along with minimal damage to the phone.

The T-mo employees hooked me up the other day. Took me off jump and put me on Jump on Demand with a 60$ credit to my account. Not sure what they did but I walked out with the new 6s without paying a dime, plus on the new jump where I can trade my phone 3 times a year.

New Android update fixes two critical vulnerabilities

Android is getting a new patch today, fixing a total of 23 vulnerabilities including two critical issues. The most serious of the vulnerabilities allows remote code execution through email, web browsing and MMS. The patch also fixes a newly discovered vulnerability in the Stagefright library, listed as high rather than critical because of the difficulty of remote execution.

The patch includes bugs reported by Trend Micro, System Security Lab and Keen Team, as well as Google's internal security teams. Partners were notified of the bugs by October 5th, and the patches will be published to the Android Open Source Project's code repository within 48 hours.

It's the fourth monthly update since Android security began its monthly schedule, and the second since the Marshmallow release. As serious as the issues seem, they're fairly routine for a patch of this kind. By contrast, the latest iOS release fixed 49 vulnerabilities (including a kernel attack), coming less than 30 days after the 9.0.2 release. Each release contained some scary-sounding vulnerabilities, but they all represent a win for researchers, since they're being patched before they've been exploited in the wild.

The big question for Android users is how long it will take for the patch to reach every device. It's being deployed directly to Nexus devices, and Samsung has said it will push monthly patches immediately to Galaxy S, Note, and Tab models. LG made a similar announcement at this year's Black Hat conference. Other manufacturers like HTC and Sony have pushed out patches for specific bugs like Stagefright but haven't yet committed to the rolling updates.

If your Android phone is running Marshmallow, you can check to see if you've received the patch by looking for the Android Security Patch Level section of the Setting menu. If the date is November 1st or later, it means the patch is in place.

Samsung Galaxy S7 cameras might have a mix of in-house and Sony sensors

Sony is the camera darling of the smartphone world and with the purchase of Toshiba’s imaging unit, boy, does it ever know it. While Samsung has played around with its own snapshot technology, it still does business with Sony for some of its mobile camera work. “Some” may soon include the upcoming Galaxy S7.

According to a respected Weibo leaker, it looks like Samsung is asking about Sony’s latest IMX sensors for use in its next spring flagship.
Rumors be rumors, but while we are ruminating about them, we ask if Samsung could come together with Sony in implementing the former’s ISOCELL tech with an IMX 300-series sensor.

After all, Qualcomm is using Samsung’s 14nm FinFET SoC infrastructure for the Snapdragon 820. Then again, Samsung does want to have its own way.

We shall see.
