I was planning on rooting and flashing my Tmobile Galaxy s2 but now that this has happened, would it just be best that I wait for an ICS based rom?

I just updated to MIUI 1.11.11 and the boot audio scared the crap out of me

anybody here had any trouble getting SMS Backup to connect with Gmail? I've tried three different apps, two different gmail accounts (one created brand new just to make this work), I've enabled IMAP, but the apps won't connect. any ideas?
