meh? the ability to read anywhere on the screen is great. maybe you don't use that feature but that implementation will be a lot better than on the back of the device where you're finger supposedly "naturally" rests.

For 99 bucks I think it's worth a test run. Best Buy gives you 14 days to return something. Try it out a week, see if you find it useful, if not return it and say at least I tried. If you enjoy it keep it and say I'm glad I tried.

And yes.. Reddit and xda guys have the wackest complaints.

Just because it sounds cool doesn't mean it will work well or be as useful as you think it will be. The biggest cause of concern for me are how powerful these ultrasonic waves will be. A lot of people don't realize it, but having an energy emitting device on you at all times can and does have an impact on your body. There's actually scientific evidence of this:

http://m.pnas.org/content/103/34/12903.full.p
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0006291X71904438

That doesn't even begin to talk about the implications that can arise from having ultrasonic waves surround you at all times. Ultrasonic waves can be used to detect your heartbeat, other people, inanimate objects, etc... And the worst part is, ultrasound can render an image of what all of those things look like. It has the potential to be a huge invasion of privacy.

So, yes, meh.

lol @ invasion of privacy. don't even buy a cellphone if that's the case.

When you configure your device correctly and resist installing certain apps, you don't need to be concerned with typical privacy concerns. Nevertheless, any current privacy invasion certainly would not be as invasive or as harmful for your body (noticed you didn't respond to that part of the post, by the way) as an always on, ultrasonic scanning device would be. Something that could literally read your emotions, monitor your heartbeat, and "see" the people you're around, even when those other people don't have cellular devices.

You're more concerned with me criticizing a feature that you're looking forward to rather than the actual merit of said criticisms. Thanks for playing, though.

I didn't address it because I thought it was silly and I didn't feel the need to debate something that we don't know the actual implementation of yet.

But we do know the implementation....qualcomm has said it'd be ultrasound. Those studies focus on the effects of various ultrasonic technologies. I guess scientific evidence is silly now. :lol x :{

I've used both. The 6P is definitely better than the Note 5. Unless you really need the S-Pen, there's no reason to go with the Note 5.

Many reviewers have said otherwise. It's all about preference. It's all about what said person wants out of their device. Having marshmallow and front facing speakers doesn't automatically make it better than the Note 5 IMO

ultrasound is the technology not the implementation. your argument is what is silly. not going to comment further.

You're right, it's all about preference. Well, and price. You can't tell me that the Note's S-Pen, screen, and Wireless charging makes it $200+ better than the Nexus 6P.

I'd rather have the future-proof Nexus 6P. I'd rather have years of support and updates than be shackled by Samsung's slow update process. The Note 4 didn't get Lollipop until March!

After some time with Marshmallow, I've come to realize it's more than just a polished Lollipop. The individual app permissions settings are the future. Now on Tap has the potential to be great (think early Google Now versus Google Now now). Also, no Touchwiz. That should be a huge selling point. I think Google doesn't advertise the purity of the Nexus line for fear of pissing off OEMs. Touchwiz is still ugly and I can't imagine it looking much better on Marshamllow.

The placement and implementation of the Nexus Imprint are better in my opinion.

Again, you can't go wrong with either device. For me, it's an easy decision, though. I always prefer Nexus devices, and the 6P is the best yet.

Edit: I forgot another huge Nexus advantage.... The dev community.

@lobotomybeats
 can you give a mini review of now on tap and how it works for you.

im not really digging it so far, might just need some super user tips lol.

Here's a good example.

Someone texted me the other day asking if I have seen The Overnight. I hadn't even heard of it (that I remember). Google Now on Tap. Boom, I now know what the Overnight is and know it has a lot of fake penises.

i see, so you feel its just a overall better search experience? what about the cards aspect.
