Let's chill on the sweeping statements regarding Catholics and religion people. This is obviously quite reprehensible, but you can't point to the entire Roman Catholic Church administration, and say every one of them condones such things. The article did say this code of silence regarding abuses was corrected by the current Bishop of Rome.

Of course, any person or group of people, who use their position/authority to take advantage of others, must be held accountable, and punished according to appropriate rule of law.

It seems that the Vatican has been in the news a lot lately. It appears that the Pope was personally involved in a pedophilia cover up. A scandal has broken in Brazil. No one said every Catholic condones child rape, but my experience with every Catholic that I've known shows that they either don't care or don't want to care.  The lack of Catholics in this thread speaks volumes. 
The sexual abuse by the Catholic Church was kept secret for almost a century.  Even now, if a sexual abuse was found out to have taken place, it is still not policy to report the crime to the police.  To the Catholic church, sexual abuse is on the same level of a woman becoming a priest.

No one said every Catholic condones child rape, but my experience with every Catholic that I've known shows that they either don't care or don't want to care.  The lack of Catholics in this thread speaks volumes.

Look at Eddie Long and other evangelicals with "situations." Look at how big their congregations are EVEN after their scandals. I don't mean to speak against you but I wonder what your particular beliefs are. Do you believe in god? Do you believe in an afterlife? Do you subscribe to a particular religion?
