Thread about Jesus - Questions, Bible Verses and Prayer Requests

But isn't God here and now? We have kids getting hit by missiles in the middle east but that's not enough for God to step in? He either doesn't care about them or hates them.

We keep looking into biblical times for proof yet there should be proof here and now
questions about why God allows evil come from a lack of understand on OUR part as people. as man. To be a Christian, you must understand that your  level of intelligence and understanding is far under God's. We look at things and ask why because we can't see the bigger picture.

An example, if you watch a painter strt a painting, you'll ask wtf is going on until the picture becomes clear. Until then, its random strokes and shapes. To us, we see the strokes and shapes. Let God be the painter.

There have been PLENTY of times in my life where I asked straight up "YO GOD WHAT THE F*** MAN IVE BEEN DOING WHAT YOU SAY, IVE BEEN A GOOD PERSON, I MADE GOOD DECISIONS... WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS S***TING ON ME!?!?!" nd then later...it made sense. The thing is, bad things happen...but they lead to good things later tht wouldnt have been possible without the bad pieces setting it in motion.

Shakespear said the world is a stage and we're all actors in it. We're just a piece of this puzzle. I dont look to biblical times for proof of God's existence. I see his work in my life here and now.

The "facts" of old times predates the ability to properly observe and study them. Once man was able to proven fact took the place of tall tales, all but God of course. Interesting because during those times religion was used to control civilized man.

And isn't it a little self centered (not an insult just describing the action) to think God is blessing you yet millions of people starve that also believe in God? Those people aren't worthy but you are? They're not important but you are? Surly if God will take the time to help you and not them you're more important.

no offense taken at all thats a perfectly legit question. You can always play keeping up with the Jones but you'll never be on the Jones level. I feel blessed to make it out of my situations where i didnt even see a way out. I'm talking didn't have a penny to my name and no help coming. I'm talking literally -$130 to my name with rent, car payment, and other bills due... and all i had was faith and a prayer. and He came through. like he always does. I made it, even if i struggled through it...i made it.

That doesnt make me chosen or any more worthy than anyone else. Cuz if that was the case, I'd just look up to celebrities and rich peple and ask why were they worthy of being rich and i wasnt? etc etc. God helps everybody in His own way. because again like i said last time... we cant see the plan. If my ancestors weren't abducted and killed...i couldnt be here. If every little thing from every ant that got stepped on to every natural disaster didn't happen...you wouldn't be exactly where you are right now. Its not possible to have that kind of foresight for us. God expects us to be grateful for what we HAVE not complain about what we dont. in fact one of the commandments is dont covet. Your life is your own, and you have to make the most of it. That is the job we are tasked with. Even the poorest man on earth can say "at least im still breathing."

and if you are indeed a man of logic...if all tall tales were disproven by fact in modern times...why is God the only thing still around?? And ive heard them say religion was used to control man. To a certain degree, i agree. But your relationship with God shouldn't be based solely off religion. All things created by man are flawed. Religion being one of them.

I'm not a bible thumper by any means but let these people have their thread.

Why is everyone so hell bent on giving their two cents when it isn't asked for?

When the thread started, OP was asking for questions from everyone.

He's since changed the title, but most of the current posters were here since the beginning.

1. You're admiting there are consistent writing in the bible.

2.Humble myself? What you're arguing is that the bible and Christianity is proven fact. Do you have to humble yourself to accept 2+2=4? If it's a FACT no matter how humble or big headed I am I can't deny it. We throw in simoke logic and all of a sudden the bible starts to unravel with the only thing holding it together is "faith" over reason.
1.There are no inconsistencies in the Bible, most of those verses can be easily proven consistent by reading the whole passage or proper cross referencing.

2. If you are trying to learn in a classroom would you not first empty your bias in order to truly learn where the professor is coming from?

The ways of God are hard for any of us to understand with a mind that cannot be taught. That is why the Bible says one must be like a child to enter the Kingdom of God, because his wisdom isn't the same as the world's own.

"Without religion, we'd have good people doing good things, and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
Not one man is good in the first place, thats why society stays confused with violence, death, lying, etc around us. Religion just adds to both evil deeds and good deeds done in the world.

...im not gonna lie to you.. i cant tackle all of that until i get off work. however i see alot of the things already and know why it comes off as a contradiction. like they said u must read the whole passage and know context.

but just tackling the first 2:

1. God was pleased with man, but then became displeased seeing how wickedness was in all of us. Remember, God does not control our will. Equate it to raising your child correctly...and seeing him do wrong. You may love him with all your heart, but it still kills you to see him messing up doesnt it?

2. one of those mistranslations i was talking about. The first part speaks of God entering the temple of solomon. What is known today as a Church. The second part isnt even the words of God but from a prophet instead. Its saying that God wont dwell in the creations of MAN. The church was not created by man... but God, through Solomon. Wherever man says "*I* made this..."  you wont find God is what the scripture is saying. Read the verses before. It speaks of the blasphemies of man and how people chose to worship the stars and sun and moon when they already had been told to follow God. The entire thing is an excerpt of Stephen lecturing people.

Here's a brain teaser, God doesn't want us to commit sin yet admittedly CREATED us sinners. Gods the creator of ALL so God created sin.

God told Adam and eve not to eat the fruit yet created a forbidden fruit for them to eat.

Not one man is good in the first place??? Human beings are niether good nor evil by nature, the nature of a human being is that we are programmable. Products of our upbringing and surroundings as well as the food we put in our bodies. Whatever is programmed into us during development is the result you get in society. These are facts that can be known and understood this is not my opinion.

the thing you continuously do is apply human behavior to God. as long as u do that Blaster, youll never understand anything about it. Your logic is the equivalent of "Money is paper, paper is from wood, wood is from trees...therefore, money DOES grow on trees!" you cant use bread crumbs to come up with answers all the time bruh. God is grieved by our sin, and yes he did create man and man does sin. But sin was born from the mind of man. Man WAS pure until eve and the apple. The apple tainted us and we've been tainted ever since. Sin is a byproduct of man. Its not God's creation. but God understands and forgives us anyways. Thats why he is considered merciful.

example: God created man, man created strip clubs.... God created strip clubs. that logic CERTAINLY doesnt work does it?

If man was PURE at any point they would of NEVER sinned. Again, gods 2 law was to not eat the fruit yet creates a fruit to not eat. God tells us not to give in to temptation yet created THE FIRST temptation. God also created the devil with according to the bible predates man.

God creates and controls ALL according to the bible concerning his ALL POWERFUL nature. YES all things are gods work. If that's not the case then he is NOT almighty

man was convinced by woman to eat. the woman convinced man to disobey God. is that not still true today often times? Do men still not sin repeatedly in the name of a woman? And youre 100% God created the tempation and told you dont give in. But thats not wrong at all. A teacher gives you a test and will still fail you if you get the answers wrong. Your parents forbid you to do xyz but the temptation is still there. Temptation is a part of life. itll NEVER go away. but its supposed to be there.

How can anyone say they have faith if things never got hard to test their faith? how can anyone say i'm a good person without being faced with evil? Temptation is there so you can rise above. God doesn't control what any of us do...BUT! he gives us the option to make the right choice always. And thats what temptation is. You have the ability to make the right choice. Adam couldve and SHOULDVE said no. He chose to do it anyways. He gave in.

Its kinda like when people say you dont really know who's with you until youre in a situation where s*** hits the fan. God can't say youre with him unless he tests you. ANY AND EVERYBODY can make the right choice when its easy. Can you still make the right choice when that girl is naked in front of you? Can u still make the right choice when u find that wallet on the floor? When someone left their brand new iphone on the table and forgot about it? Will u smash? Will u take the money? Will u steal that phone? Once u make the right choice... THEN u can say u are riding with God. THAT is why there is temptation, simply so you can rise above.

Temptation is a part of this life but if you agree God is almighty then God created ALL of "this life".

How is creating the temptation not wrong? During the time of the first two people it was literally THE ONLY WRONG available.

without temptation.. then who would do wrong? who would steal if the opportunity wasn't there? The only way for there to be no temptation is if everybody was equal in every way and situation. everybody has the same social status, everyone has the same finances, everyone has the same things. Everyone would have to be...the same. Its not possible even with our own logic.

And TECHNICALLY God created temptation. But in reality, our own wickedness did. God could place that wallet right in front of you, but a completely righteous person would ONLY think of seeing who it belonged to, to give it back. The average person would wonder how much money is in it and temptation to steal it is born from there. But again, NONE of us are pure from sin and this is why temptation exists. I see a wallet and often think "mannnn if i wasn't a Christian" and even that in itself is still wrong. I dont steal. I detest thieves, actually HATE them. (which is also wrong) but i wont steal. I come across temptation all the time, but im tempted because of my own mind, and its my choice whether to succumb to it or not.
The bible is notorious for applying human behavior to god

no its not. it explains CONSTANTLY how God is ignored or why its wrong to apply your thinking to God. this isn't even a legitimate belief man.... WE took some of HIS characteristics... but definitely not the other way around.

You're not grasping what being almighty means. God in that respect does and creates EVERYTHING. For anything to create anything he did not disproves God be almighty.

And a world where all people are happy? I guess that's a bad thing to God? Who wouldn't take advantage of that you ask? The question is why would God create people who would want to steal? It's all his plan correct? He knows all correct?

i didnt expect so see this amount of trolling in a thread about Jesus. i only read this last page but its nothing but non-believers making snide remarks instead of asking legitimate questions or having intelligent debate. this is bad.
I asked a legitimate question on the previous page and OP disregarded it.

The jig is up on religion. A lot of ppl are waking up. Those who need it I'll let them be. My problem is with those who condemn anybody who thinks otherwise.

The word almighty has nothing to do with creation. Not only that, you're still failing to grasp the concept of people bringing evil into the world... Not God. And asking why everyone can't be happy is basically why didn't he make it easy for us. God didn't give anybody an easy button. Everyone has their own struggles.

The complaint I often hear is if God is real then why do we struggle / why is there evil and it's because of man. Man's greed. Man's wickedness. Man's evil.

The way you talk makes it sound like you think God's job is to make it easy for you. To make you and everyone else happy. That's YOUR job while you're here.

God created ALL and has power over ALL correct? Now if man created evil then God is NOT the creator of all. On top of that man by that virtue has power over God.

How did man create evil when the devil, who's existence predates man, is evil? Man did not create evil. The devil supposedly already disobeyed God. Evil already existed before man

Too hard for God to do? How insulting is that to the being who has power and domain over all. God is complete power and perfection is he not? In the bible he hell his people left and right. I guess now nobody is worth his time.

And how is it "your job" when the bible teaches to just trust in God and all will be given to you?
