Those who live a christian life, how do you feel?

Why do so many Christians in America feel the need to act all holier than thou and alienate others because of their beliefs?

You don't see any Muslim cats coming on here talking about "well if you're not this or you don't believe that then you have nothing tosay"....

Wassupwitdat? I guarantee if I made a thread asking for only Muslims the same cats telling me I'm trolling would be the ones making all sorts of ugly snidecomments in my thread...

Sorry I can't quote on my phone. Yea daytona well if you don't believe it then that is definitely not the right church for you to go to or the rightreligion

You mean to tell me that Muslims don't alienate others because of their beliefs?..LOL..Hate to break it to you, but there are people of every religion thatdo that, not just Christians..And if you made a thread asking for only Muslims to reply and a Christian came in and started making the comments you made, thenthey would be just as wrong..You sir are the one whose acting hollier than thou..So calm down and let people that follow the Christian faith help the OP outwith his problem..God bless you!!

Yeah I feel you. But when you are taught something since you were a kid, without being exposed to anything else...well you know how that goes

Read my post, I was talking specifically about the Christians in this country....

When have you been alienated by a Muslim? Really interested.

And how am I acting hollier than thou? Explain.

Also how are my comments wrong? Explain.

Yea daytona I understand, cause I kno even with my religion some people might not agree with what I agree with but I believe my religion is right. At the sametime you gotta go with what you truly believe in your heart, so if you have any doubts then it probably won't work out.

Is it hard? Really?

I haven't noticed...

Most Christians that I've met are fine with just a few hail mary's and our fathers as "repentance" for their sins. Heck most of them haven't read a verse from the Bible and believe that simply believing Christ as the lamb of God is enough to be forgiven for all sins both past present and future.

Its a false sense of security, it takes more than just that to save you Christian or not.....

You want real advice? Follow that gut feeling, its called your conscience, if you're going against it you're doing it wrong....You know how to be a good man...
you know when there's a thread and some christian dude comes in posting a bunch of religious views and pisses everyone off? right now sneaker heathen is that dude. only the tables are turned. the op was obviously asking CHRISTIANS for A CHRISTIAN'S point of view. your religious or anti christian arguments are not even close to answering what the thread is asking. nowadays it seems that some atheists, agnostics, and other non christians do way more preaching and argument starting than christians ever did. op, i hope you find what you need.

So now I'm anti christian?

Okay.

This is NT not ChristiansforChristians.org....

I'm going to keep it 100 till then...
the thread was directed to christians. you chose to chime in with a view point that was not asked for. its like going to the cdp 11 12 thread and talking about fushions. just looking for an argument. call it what you want. if that's keepin it 100, then more power to you.

Not looking for an argument, but OP opened a can of worms....

As a Muslim, (religious views aside) I believe anyone whom is a GOOD person. A SELFLESS person, a person whom has done good throughout his life, God fearing or not I cannot believe he is Hell bound....

I SIMPLY CAN'T...

With that said, It boggles my mind that so many Christians can basically straight up tell me that I'm hellbound because I don't believe Christ is the lamb of God.....
Thats the key point right there. In order to make it to heaven you can't just be a good person... Heaven is not just a good place; its aperfect place. If God started letting in good people Heaven wouldn't be perfect anymore it would only merely be good. And to make it to Heaven you need tobe perfect (no Greg) in the sense that you have been saved and have confessed your sins to God.

and yes you are in essence a trouble maker

this thread asks a direct question in regards to a specific religion. That would be like if there was a threadmade on ______(insert religion here) and then a bunch of bible thumping Christians obnoxiously enter the thread just to ask on rhetorical question : " Whydoes one have to be ________to be more in tune with _______?" which answers nothing about what the OP was asking about, and adds nothing but fuel to aannoying argument.

What the hell are you talking about "holier than thou"? Nobody in this thread is even remotely acting like that. YOU came in heretrolling trying to spark an argument because YOU dont agree with Christianity. You come in here with your smug attitude and sarcasm putting Christianity andChristians down. Stay out of this thread! It's pretty simple. Quit trolling. This thread has nothing to do with you, how hard is that to grasp?

Let me answer your loaded question with a loaded answer.

I believe Islam is about submission to God, whereas Christianity revolves around the concept of developing a relationship with God. In my mind I would be more in tune with someone I have a relationship with rather than submit to- so to answer your question, Yes.

Are you Egyptian btw? I am, I didnt know there were many of us on NT.

Islam teaches us to submit to God, and just like Christianity it revolves around developing a relationship with God, that's why we stay up on our Salat 5times a day, fast during Ramadan, give charity to the poor, and so on.....

Christianity teaches you that you cannot get to the father without believing in his son. so doesnt that make it obvious that you cannot make it to heaven if you dont believe in Jesus? i mean... come on... obviously thats what it means. you can be the nicest person on earth, but if you dont believe in the son of God, you still wont make it without faith.

and to the OP, it sounds like you need to re-commit your faith. make more of an effort to walk the right path everyday. i know how you are feeling too because i find myself in that same place. it isnt easy, but when you have God on your side, nothing is too hard fam. just keep pressing on and when things get too hard or when you feel like you are taking 2 steps back instead of 2 steps forward just call on God. he will help you through anything man.

stay up.

If I didn't make my comments someone else eventually would have, welcome to NT...

Obviously I know what the bible is implying, I just wanted to know how some NTers feel about it. I think its funny you can condemn someone to an eternity of hellfire even if they we're good people all their life....

So by that logic, a bad person with alot of faith has a better chance of getting to heaven than Ghandi....

Hmmm, if thats not cause for debate I don't know what is.

I know what it is, you don't want me to speak on it because you know damn well something is wrong with your logic....I don't believe a righteous God would damn a good person....Muslim or not, Christian or not, Jewish or not....
how do you figure? a bad person is a bad person either way at the end of the day and they will have to answer to the father for their sins whetherthey have faith or not. so your "bad person with faith has a better chance of blah blah..." standpoint is flawed.

its easy to tell who actually has knowledge of a religion, and who just knows what they hear about a religion. because if you read the bible and understandwhat its saying, your responses wouldnt be "well i think a God that does this wouldnt do..." or "i dont believe a God would do..." becauseyou would already know what he would do.

I can tell you for a FACT that MY God promised me eternal life for believing in his son Jesus Christ. i dont THINK it, i KNOW it.
he doesnt promise eternal life for just being a good person. half the work wont get you the full reward.

you need to study up more on a religion before you go pointing fingers trying to make a point.

i dont know anything about being a muslim. i only know how to follow Christ. so i wouldnt go and point out things in your religion to make it sound like youare dumb for following it. everytime Christianity is brought up on NT, someone walks in talking as if they know EVERYTHING about it, when most of the time, they dont know a damn thing. and they all sound the same. stating personal opinions as if they were fact, they themselves probably never opened a bible. itsignorant, and in reality, they speak about christian always sounding so high and mighty when its really them. ignorance

I know about Christianity, growing up in America you'd have to TRY not to ever have read a bible so please....

I even take a religion course in college, so please don't even try to act like you're smarter than me...Don't even know me...Just because youdon't agree with what I have to say doesn't make you right and make me wrong...

I'm not going to even address on your initial comments in this last post, I can tell you've barely read through anything I have to say.....I'mgoing to enjoy the rest of this playoff game, please feel free to properly address my statements after you've read through them...

Thanks.

And btw, if bad people are still bad people then why do so many bad people whom happen to be Christian go around acting like their @(#* don't stink and allwill be forgiven? You're acting like Christians don't act like that, and there are PLENTY whom do....Thats what I've been saying, you want to twistand stretch my words go ahead, don't expect me to take you seriously though.

WELL to get back to the OP.

I've been in your shoes in more ways than one...I felt i was running away from holding myself to a standard. When you're trying to live your lifeChrist-Like you have to hold yourself to a standard. So i ran, rebeled and pushed any chance of me stepping out on faith to a nearly impossible thing. During avery trying time in my life I tried God...have you ever heard the saying "taste and see" well once I bit into a relationship lead by faith doorsopened for me and I was able to start holding myself to standards but just like any good thing that too had rocks thrown in its path and temptation set in butI just kept praying that this time around God wouldnt let me fail and surprisingly at this point in my life he hasn't or moreso my faith won't let mebackslide! feel free to drop me a line contacts are in sig. Pray on it. God knows your heart but you, yourself have to take a step and he will be there toovercompensate when you cannot meet him halfway.

Is it hard?

With that said, It boggles my mind that so many Christians can basically straight up tell me that I'm hellbound because I don't believe Christ is the lamb of God.....
so... if he's asking for help from his fellow christians, and youre muslim.... why are you in here thread-jacking?
the OP didnt open a can of worms, you brought the worms in. The OP didnt make the thread ot start controversy. If you knew that this was a controvercial topic and trouble could be started, wouldnt it be common sense to not start trouble? thats like saying "ohman that register is open and not being watched, let me take the money!" even though you know taking the money is wrong. Even though you know trouble could be started from starting an argument... you do it anyway.
smh.gif

I know what it is, you don't want me to speak on it because you know damn well something is wrong with your logic....I don't believe a righteous God would damn a good person....Muslim or not, Christian or not, Jewish or not....
how do you figure? a bad person is a bad person either way at the end of the day and they will have to answer to the father for their sins whether they have faith or not. so your "bad person with faith has a better chance of blah blah..." standpoint is flawed.

its easy to tell who actually has knowledge of a religion, and who just knows what they hear about a religion. because if you read the bible and understand what its saying, your responses wouldnt be "well i think a God that does this wouldnt do..." or "i dont believe a God would do..." because you would already know what he would do.

I can tell you for a FACT that MY God promised me eternal life for believing in his son Jesus Christ. i dont THINK it, i KNOW it.
he doesnt promise eternal life for just being a good person. half the work wont get you the full reward.

you need to study up more on a religion before you go pointing fingers trying to make a point.

i dont know anything about being a muslim. i only know how to follow Christ. so i wouldnt go and point out things in your religion to make it sound like you are dumb for following it. everytime Christianity is brought up on NT, someone walks in talking as if they know EVERYTHING about it, when most of the time, they dont know a damn thing. and they all sound the same. stating personal opinions as if they were fact, they themselves probably never opened a bible. its ignorant, and in reality, they speak about christian always sounding so high and mighty when its really them. ignorance
smh.gif

ignorance is poison.

I know about Christianity, growing up in America you'd have to TRY not to ever have read a bible so please....

I even take a religion course in college, so please don't even try to act like you're smarter than me...Don't even know me...Just because you don't agree with what I have to say doesn't make you right and make me wrong...

I'm not going to even elaborate on your initial comments in this last post, I can tell you've barely read through anything I have to say.....I'm going to enjoy the rest of this playoff game, please feel free to properly address my statements after you've read through them...

Thanks.

And btw, if bad people are still bad people then why do so many bad people whom happen to be Christian go around acting like their @(#* don't stink and all will be forgiven? You're acting like Christians don't act like that, and there are PLENTY whom do....Thats what I've been saying, you want to twist and stretch my words go ahead, don't expect me to take you seriously though.

Nobody in this thread said some Christians don't act like that. You came in here talking crap about Christians, what kind of responses do you expect toget?

I think its wack because, it is a whole bunch of symbolic tales that people swear up and down is the truth and take too literally. That is my opinion.

Did you just figure this out today at church? If not, why go?

Let me answer your loaded question with a loaded answer.

I believe Islam is about submission to God, whereas Christianity revolves around the concept of developing a relationship with God. In my mind I would be more in tune with someone I have a relationship with rather than submit to- so to answer your question, Yes.

Are you Egyptian btw? I am, I didnt know there were many of us on NT.

Islam teaches us to submit to God, and just like Christianity it revolves around developing a relationship with God, that's why we stay up on our Salat 5 times a day, fast during Ramadan, give charity to the poor, and so on.....
I quoted this because this shows how Muslims are more than just good people, it shows how they actually strive to do good int he community, tohelp their fellow man, to spread the word of Allah.

But according to Christians they wont make it to heaven because they dont believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God, even if they were the most trulyreligious person & had done an incredible amount of good in the world, & had a genuine relationship with god. Just because they feel that Jesus Christwasnt the Son of God they wont get into heaven.

I honestly cant imagine that if there is a God that he would seriously keep people out of heaven because of that.

Also sidenote why does the Catholic church have things locked away in the vatican that are kept away from the everyday christian, what do they have to hide
