Thor: The Dark World (Movie Thread) 11/08/13

It's worse than getting a pair of yeezys off NDC lol.

They sell out in 20 sec.

So sick of these BOTs.

Hoping to get the captain America one.

The silver surfer one they did is nice too.

The latest Silver Surfer was the one I wanted the most, I also loved the Batcave and Fortress.

I love the idea of Jamie Alexander as Wonder Woman.

She's got this Warrior Princess vibe going on like Faora in Man of Steel and she's beautiful, classy and elegant at the same time.

Curious about that too, my guess is he is back to Odinsleep? Maybe the death of his wife really took a toll on him in the end?

Or Loki might have him in the dungeon where he had Loki before, enchant him with magic that makes him look like a regular criminal and people would think he is crazy for claiming to be Odin? Sounds like something Loki would do.
could Loki do that to ODIN tho?

also the funeral scene was epic to me.

Tesseract = Space

isn't the tessract Mind? Hence Lokis staff brainwashing people and it being the color Blue?

Nah, the gem in Lokis staff is a completely different gem and is blue, which is mind which makes sense because he used it for mind control.

Though the Tesseract isn't purple like the space gem should be, you can also claim it is of different shade of blue? Also, it make sense to be the space gem as it allows people to travel through space by creating a portal?

Put Odin to sleep or imprison him?

At the end Loki does have Odins staff so if he manages to trick him or get a hold of it, with Odin being grieve stricken I am sure Loki can.

Funeral scene was great, very Game of Throne-esque but I have one problem with it. Everyone was wearing a helmet yet they can't let Thor wear his, why? People have been begging for him to wear his helmet but he never does, they get a scene where it was finally appropriate and it would have been a screen time of maybe less than 30 seconds and they still couldn't do it. Why do they hate his helmet so much?

It is well designed and looks good.

yea I was hoping the helmet made an appearance as well, maybe redesigned  so it would get more action

The more I think about this movie and the blend of sci-fi and fantasy that it pulled off, the more hyped I'm getting to see it again. The tech of those dark elf ships and the Asgardian "boats" and cannons were amazing to me, especially the inside Malekith's ship. The attention to detail in even the dark elf language and display symbols made me suspend all disbelief. There was never a moment where I felt like "that **** looked fake."

Marvel is really selling this "universe" idea very well. I can't wait to see it again.

EDIT:

Regarding the helmet, I think Helmsworth must have a stipulation in his contract that calls for his face not being obstructed. What other logical reason is there for him not wearing the helmet in the scene where everyone else had a helmet on?

^^I dunno if it's Hemsworth idea not to wear the helmet, I think it has more to do with Disney/Marvel. Out of all the Marvel characters so far, females love and pay to see Thor. Pretty much every female I know has Thor or Loki has their favorite character and Disney/Marvel just want to make sure his face is always there for the women to see.

I doubt he has a contract about obscuring his face, I mena it isn't as bad as Dredd helmet or Batmans cowl.

I found this and even though it didn't really say he is the one that ask for it to be not worn, he seems happy it is that way.

In a recent press interview provided by IGN, the actor explains why he dislikes the helmet so much.

“Secretly I think I was the biggest advocate for not having the helmet. Secretly between me and whoever is watching [laughs]. It’s just incredibly uncomfortable. The amount of times it would fall off and the bridge would be smashing me in the nose, or the wings of the helmet in one of the fight scenes was getting clipped off…it was something we had to, I think [pushes aside gesture] for the moment anyway.”

But again, I just want to see it in a a scene or two like that funeral scene where he is just standing. It is a small thing that make some difference.

She does resemble Wonder Woman. However, will Marvel allow her to play a DC character?
IDK why people think that matters? :lol

arent there any lawyers in here? I am not an expert in law but I know for a fact that the only noncompete agreements that courts will uphold is if you were in a position to learn trade secrets (usually high ranking officers). Otherwise it is unfair business practice.

Anyway Jaimie is my top pick for wonder woman. Cobie Smulders is in second place for me

I think going without the helmet is something they got from the Ultimates version of Thor. Or even Thuderstrike perhaps.

I wonder if we'd ever get to see Betta Ray Bill in a Thor movie someday.

did the dark elves and their language remind you of the engineers from Prometheus.

Not really... I mean I see some similarities now that you mention it , in the pale skin of Malekith and the stasis device, but I think that's just the trend in sci-fi design for aliens right now. I guess some of the mapping tech was also similar for the ship's piloting system, but the language or the
design of the characters themselves didn't really remind me of the engineers.

I can kind of see it with Malekith. Kind of.

.

yep.

either way, I looking forward to the expansion of both of their storylines in future films.

Had the day off and caught the matinee showing. Enjoyed the movie - it had some fun moments and some chessy moments but absolutely felt like I was watching a comic book come to life. :hat

wood love to see them go one on one...

Loki stealing the show again! Hiddleston needs to be in every Thor movie by all accounts.

My lord Natalie Portman in her Asgard outfit :o
