My rent is around $3200 and my APT is much bigger than that. I have a 1 BR on Madison and 50's that's around 780ish SQFT btw.

IDK where that apartment is located or what building it's in. A lot of variables to consider.

EDIT: Now that I know the address-Of course it'll be that much for such little space

You might have a hard time explaining that to a young city bachelor who doesn't need much of a living space but likes the luxury of living walking distance from his job or anything else...

So much truth to this.

I lived in Battery Park City before moving to my new place 7 months ago and the only reason why Is because I wanted to live across the street from my office. 95% of the people working in that area live close to work.

I've lived in both cities and I would pay for that over whatever I'd get in Miami for the same price any day of the week.

So the point of this thread is that New York Real Estate/Rent is expensive?

If you have the money, and that location is convenient for you, right by Battery Park, with that spectacular view and roof deck, why not?

And if you broke and can't **** with it, don't.

your paying well over $30,000  a year to live inside of a small room in the business district
newark new jersey is 23 minutes away ...location is the most important
factor in real estate but you cant be giving up that much , you're living in a tree house

plus new york city has a world class public transit system , that doesnt necessarily mean location is void but damn
you like 12 minutes from harlem

Financial District living is fine if you work in the Financial District. Otherwise there's not much to it.

I dunno.. I work in the Flat Iron District and live in the Financial District.. Honestly, I like it.. it's peaceful at night and every train is within walking distance.

I do miss living in SoHo though.

Stay Away from Staten Island, unless you're okay with taking a stupid ferry in and out of the borough

Stick to Queens or Brooklyn.

Staten Island shouldn't even be a borough as far as I'm concerned. It's isolated as hell. Depending on your budget I'd say anything above 140th in Manhattan. Spots in Queens and Bk, and some places in the Bx, but like the western part of the bx.
