Were the 16 Warriors missing 2 starters like the 08 Lakers were?
Your man was a heaping pile of trash on both ends of the court in the 2008 finals. That's why they lost. Just like Bron in 2011.

He played like his normal great self in the following years.

I don't see how you can ignore that parade as setting the expectations for that Miami team. Basically saying if you disregard the expectations that the leader of the team set then they exceeded expectations
I am ignoring it because it was goofy. THey were up there having fun.

Also, I am not sure why we are expected to take the "BEst Player's" verbal prediction as gospel.

When else do we do that? But LeBron does it and we somehow are expected to take HIS word?

The Heat were successful but they definitely underachieved from an expectations standpoint.
Same way the Big 3 Celtics were successful but didn't live up to the expectations after 08.
However, expectations for teams are often unrealistic. They ignore that it's hard to win in the NBA.

20 years of consistency. 5 rings. Warriors were mediocre, got good for 5 years, plus added KD, now they better? Lmao.

Not to mention San Antonio isn’t even a destination city. And we still wrecked. Let’s see if GS gets 2 more rings
You are taking the question out of context.

The question was, "OF THE Dominant Champions of recent history" how should the be ranked.

So including what happened BEFORE/AFTER the ring winning doesn't really make sense.

I'm moving the goal post how? The topic was whether they were a "failure" or not. I'm just trying to grasp how people are defining that. Seems like a lot of folks are focused on what was said at the stupid parade.

Since they said what they said at the parade, not winning 3 or more in 4 years is a failure?

The topic wasn't were they a 'failure' it's whether they underachieved.

Like the late 2000s-early 2010s Celtics when they made that trade to only get 1 title out of that group is underachieving as well.

How is using internal and expectations vs reality dumb?

Thanks for throwing this part in there.

The whole franchise thought it was a good idea to organize that mess. Bron did his part as the hype man and set the stage. Of course nobody should have expected 8 rings but when you go out there high stepping as an organization and then get embarrassed like that in your first run, that can't be anything other than a disappointment

I would just like to clarify - the article MVP MVP posted asked if the Heatles were ultimately a disappointment. P C H P C H is the one who introduced the world failure into the discussion and even then, he was saying 2 out of 4 was the exact opposite of failure. See below.

I'm actually not sure anyone said the Heatles were a failure but a few folks in here seem to be running with that narrative.

Didn't read the article but I'd say yes

KD and GSW were supposed to run the league and only won two

if anything, LBJ’s Miami run should show you just how hard it is to win. Winning 2 out of 4, and going to 4 straight finals is the complete opposite of failure no matter how you slice it

So dead that nonsense about Perk going forward cause all I know is having even a semi healthy Bynum and Ariza/Artest resulted in chips. 🤷🏾‍♂️

My response will be the same as before.

EYE am not looking at what a TEAM/PLAYER predicts as the EXPECTED outcome.

What the hell are they supposed to say?

It legit makes no sense.

spurs started their run in 1999. Ended in 2014..... ALL APPLIES

So then you're going off of your own personal opinion of what YOU expected rather than the STATED objective

Yeah I mistakenly used the word "failure" instead of "disappointment". My bad.

Not remotely a disappointment.

Then I guess reasonable minds can disagree on that.

Because I feel like if someone from the future visited most basketball fans/media types in October 2010 and said, “you know this Heat team is going to win the title 2 out of 4 seasons and then disband”, the reaction generally would be, “really? That’s it?” and not “hey, that was a great result.”

So the, "Longevity" > "Short/Quick Dominant Run" applies NOW, but when people say LeBron is greater tha..............nevermind. I won't do that today.

leBron ain’t my favorite player so.... IDKWTF you brought him up....

Jordan, Duncan, Kobe.

Kawhi and Kyrie are my current favorite. I never been a big Lebron fan. I respect his game but he ain’t one of my favorites. Never was

Not at all.

When has what A single player and/or franchise dictated the actual odds/predictions of a Season?

I'll wait.

My point is yall want to hold LEBRON responsible for making a prediction and use that prediction as the actual odds of what was going to happen NO.

When TMAC predicted his ORL squad was going to beat the Pistons in the Playoffs, did that all of a sudden become the FAVORED outcome? No.

As I said, since WHEN did we take what Athletes say and convert those into "Vegas Odds."

Only when LeBron does it.

Makes zero sense.

That is a horrible argument because that completely erases the Year to Year context of the journey.

You are better than this.

You're saying Miami wasn't favored to beat Dallas?

Boom. I just killed your whole argument
